I heard about dayz from friends, as soon as I got a laptop I bought it. Years before the mod or standalone, I had always pictured a open-world MMO post apoc world. I had wanted either zombies or a foreign invasion game. Looks like I got zombies =). Anyway, so I bought Dayz and have been playing a ton. I love it, once it is finished it has a chance to be one of the best games of our time. That's all ive got to say about that. =P Anyway, thanks for looking at my profile, have a good day!
  1. Hey guys. My dad got a new PC and is gaming again, so I steam shared our accounts so we can play each others games. It worked for most of my library, but not all. the 2 I noticed didn't carry over were DayZ and Warframe. I know you guys don't know anything about Warframe things so im not concerned there, but I would like to know whats up with DayZ. Does it not carry over since its still in early access or something? Did I do something wrong? Thanks for the help.

Can you take the tents? Or are they just for looks?

Ideas for the next DayZ map

I like the idea of a large urban area. I've actually suggested it before. if GTA can do it without sacrificing too much performance, why cant DayZ? The city would be where lots of the lore surrounded. The infection would have started there, and been the worst there. The most zombies would be there. There would be highways headed out, jam packed with abandoned vehicles of those who decided to continue on foot. The city is where shit would have hit the fan. Right now we see some of this spread out throughout the bigger cities in the map (namely Cherno, Electro, and Novo) but we need bigger. Just imagine a city the size of Los Santos in the corner of the map somewhere. It would be insanity. Slightly off-topic, but since a single-player version was being considered, perhaps we could have the single player mode be a campaign of the first days of the infection? You play as some 9 to 5er in the city, and as it all is going down, you must survive and escape the city, and once you reach the countryside or other safe refuge, that's the end? And then the online starts as it currently does, you spawning in the middle of nowhere. You could go back in to the city, but it would be extremely dangerous. But possibly extremely profitable. Great idea over all. I wish the dev's would consider it (or any ideas the community suggests, for that matter).

    PvM Areas

DayZ is a player driven game. It is also a very realistic game (or at least its supposed to be). Having enforced safe zones would be contrary to this. The point is your supposed to create these things. Having them there permanently and not having to defend them is wrong. But, you gathering a group of friends and creating your own safe haven somewhere in the wastes, with the goal of helping and sheltering every man you meet? And then having to defend your hard work and lifes from bandits, zombies, and anything else that intends to destroy your work? Now THATS awesome. I support that greatly. That's the beauty of DayZ. You can create these things, and do literally whatever you want.

    Aging the environment

not neccasarily. Theres times ive fired up an old car or an old ATV or something with whatever gas was in the tank, which is sometimes 5+ years old or more. Granted they don't run nearly as well and don't start as easily, but it will run, expecially after it gets warmed up. New gas is better, but old gas gets the job done in a pinch.

Concept of what I'd like to see in-game

I support all. But your right. Lets support it anyway, and the casuals will learn soon enough which improvised attachments work and don't work ;)
  7. Not all of them crash. Very few of them crash. Hence, why theres 1-3 crashes. There could be dozens flying around that we never see. Theres lots of plot holes in DayZ. The devs say we need to create our own lore, but that's just not possible, since everyone disagrees with each other about it. They need to accept that, and give us some backstory.
  8. The NATO heli crashes didn't happen on day zero. they happened later. They are happening as our game is happening. While no lore is concrete, from what little there is it shows that Chenaurus is quarantined, and the rest of the world is either fighting off the zombies on their lands, or are just worrying about keeping Chenaurus in check. The heli crashes are helis that were flying over to survey the situation or fight the zombies and such, and were shot down or just crashed. By whom or what we may never know, since BI is so bad at lore. At this point its all speculation. I personally believe its been at least a year, probably more like 3-5 years. Otherwise, there would be a ton more survivors still. As time goes on, they would decline in number. Now, when we hardly see each other, is after its been a long time and the only ones left are the ones who are either genetically immune, or are just very good at surviving. There would also be many more zombies, but since its been a while, they have also began to die off or be killed by the survivors and the NATO strikes and such.
  9. This isn't neccesarily true. While it works most efficiently for 2 years or so, depending on the vehicle some gas will last much longer. I work on ATV's and dirt bikes and such in real life, and theres been times ive fired up an engine with whatever gas was in the tank, sometimes being 10+ years old. While it doesn't run well and it clogs up the carbeurator fairly quickly, it does indeed run. You just got to shake it up a little first, over time the different things inside begin to separate, if you shake it up, while not completely restoring it, it will help. I think its probably been a few years, between 2-5 or so. I don't have an answer for the medicine part, those might very well last only a few months. All I can say for that is that this is a video game, so 100% realism, while it would be nice, is near impossible. We need some lore in the game so theres no more debate of this. Good day.

    DayZ on Potatoes

not surprised too much here. I can run it on my Dell Inspiron laptop ($425) at like 30-40FPS on medium settings. Perfectly playable, and looks pretty good too. Hopefully when more features and more zombies and such are added this isn't impacted too much. laptop specs: CPU: Intel Core i3 4010U 1.7Ghz GPU: Intel HD 4400 RAM: 6GB DDR3 500GB Harddrive 1366x768 screen res

    Complexity of damage given.

All great ideas except this one. All very accurate, but this one is not. gut shots have very slow blood loss. Immediate medical attention would probably be needed, but not for blood loss. infection would be a much bigger concern here. Other than this one though, the rest were all very accurate and this game needs that. I've made multiple posts about it, only to be shot down by 12 year olds trying to explain to me that its an early access, which to them apparently means everything will come later. Good ideas though, keep up the good work
  12. hey guys. Im wondering if the roadmap and projected dates for Beta and Release are still accurate. As I understand, we will see Beta by the end of this year, supposedly. that will last about 6 months, with a full release being in mid 2016. However, considering how far behind they are with the roadmap (due to "unexpected delays" on nearly every update) are these times still accurate? Or will it be moved back a ton, like the release of the Early Access was a full year? Not insulting the devs, but it is true. Thanks.

polish up the main menu, menus, and UI a bit?

I think some of you misunderstand. I'm aware that the current inventory and menus "work". Im also aware that a new inventory is in progress. I'm suggesting the main menu and such be polished up a bit, for the sole purpose of making the game look a little more complete. The main menu is the first impression, after all. And the server list in its current state, if you've never played similar games before, is impossible to navigate. We eventually get the hang of it, but im referring to players who are new to the game here. They're going into it already thinking how the menus and server list look so incomplete and buggy. I really do suggest you watch some of the videos I linked, they really do have some great ideas. And don't be a ignorant child like @Guppy The DayZ Medic and waste both his time and mine. He probably cant even go on Disney.com without a parents permission.
  14. hey guys. before I start, let me say that I know a new in-game UI and inventory system are being considered, or maybe even are WIP behind closed doors. So don't be ignorant and just tell me "they know, shut up". Anyway, here goes. I think not only the inventory system, but the main menu and server list and just all of the menus and things in general need to be a little more polished. Make some of the things, like the server list, a little easier to navigate. Make the buttons for filters and stuff a little more noticeable. In Arma 3 its a lot better than DayZ's, but even there it still doesn't look complete. The whole thing in general needs work. When you back out of a server, the final confirmation button is literally a copy and paste from Arma, saying something about the "mission being cancelled". it doesn't even make any sense. The main menu should have some music or something too, instead of that annoying swishing noise. The background could be made more interesting too, perhaps some screenshots or short clips of random locations of Chenaurus, also possibly adding to the lore some? Theres several videos out on Youtube of people with ideas like these. I'll link a few below, I suggest whoever is reading and the devs should go watch some of these, and possibly borrow some ideas from them. If improvements were made in this area, it would help the game look a lot more appealing and finished to people considering purchasing it. That's all I've got, any feedback below is appreciated, don't be ignorant though.Thanks.
