    Players dwindling

There's no zombies on stable right now, so of course the player count is dwindling. It's a zombie apoc simulator with no zombies. IMO they shouldn't have even bothered with early access, that way they could just focus purely on development for 2-3 years instead of trying to make the game "semi-playable" while developing it for 3-4+ years. And I am saying all of this as one of the original backers for this entire project, as I completely adore the concept of the game and hopped on the DayZmod alpha train from the get-go, as well as pre-ordered the DayZ Standalone the second I could. I really want to love the game, but I can't see it being all that enjoyable until around v0.80 or so. Like seriously, there isn't any zombies right now is saying enough. It's currently a deathmatch on a 220 km squared map with 50 player servers. It's insanely dry. Give me Lingor and zombies and it'll be amazing once again. If you want to make Chernarus even slightly realistically entertaining, we need 100+ player servers, a ton more vehicles and zombies back asap. None of which is happening anytime this year, or even Quarter1-2 next year. :/ ..Worst part is I can't even play Lingor map on DayzMod or Arma3 zombie mods, because all these clowns are playing Epoch Chernarus or other retardedly big maps where you don't see anyone for 45+ mins at a time. I know the devs want it to feel like a survival sim, but it's more like an isolation sim at the moment.

DayZ SA Modding: A New Map

All I really want is the Lingor map back in action. Tired of 200+ km maps with not seeing anyone for an hour or longer. Lingor was the most excitement I had during both the DayZ mod and DayZ SA days, and no one plays the damn map in the mod anymore because they are too busy jerking off NPC's in the new horrible "epoch" maps.

    Never ever friendly again

In DayZ mod, I've been shot at (first) by a hero-skinned player, when I was not bandit-skinned. I think that was when I first lost nearly all faith. Since then I have cooperated with random players, but I have and will continue to be ten times more skeptical about KoS. Usually when people say friendly, it's a good indicator they are full of s***, lol. Saying "friendly" is old and cliche at this point.

    Difference between standalone and mod?

... Even number 6 on your list is a joke too. Not all of us like to spend 2+ hours running around to get ammo for a civilian rifle. Maybe I just have terrible luck, but after an hour of scouring for a weapon and ammo, I get immensely bored and log off. Worst part is, this is for civilian firearms, not even military. If people enjoy spending well over an hour trying to get civilian weaponry with ammo, my only thoughts are that you must be unemployed, because there are far better things I know I'd rather do with my time.

    Mac for dayz

There is also Parellels for Mac: http://www.parallels.com/ca/products/desktop/ (Runs Windows as a virtual OS on a Mac PC)
  7. I really have no quarrels with 3PP.. ..if they find permanent resolution to looking over walls and such with it. They are making progress at least, and it would be to the benefit of the community to find this sort of proper resolution rather than just disable 3PP altogether in favor of 1PP.

    Multi-Person Mechanics to discourage KOS

Apologies I have nothing to contribute at the present moment, but I had to sign in just to lol at this: Hahahahaha. If anything it would run faster at the duo just because it sees more dinner.
  9. I hope you realize that the only reason the 3rd person servers have such high populations is because the players who actually prefer 1st-person servers are basically forced to play on the 3rd-person servers because they actually have higher player populations already, thus further inflating the numbers. If there were 1st-person servers that consistently had 40+ players, I would definitely be on them (and I am when they are available and populated). tl;dr - 3rd person servers only have so many players on their servers because players who prefer 1st-person play on them because the 1PP servers are ghost towns. It's easier said than done to just ask all the 1st-person fans to band wagon and all join the 1PP servers at once. It's like trying to form your own Union at a job without any guaranteed reassurances. The vast majority don't have the reassurances, and don't want to take their chances.

    so much for the struggle

I think you have it backwards. All they've done lately is add content. What they haven't resolved are the performance issues, adding more zombies, and raising the player capacity. Well they have done it in small increments, and yes those are meant to be post-beta optimizations, as content/features are supposed to come first. I'm just saying that's what is mainly holding back the majority of players from playing. People with beast computers unable to get smooth frames, the lack of player interaction due to a MASSIVE map and only 50 player servers, etc. They've added plenty of guns/clothing/features such as farming, a bit more crafting, etc in the meantime. Just my observation. I am enjoying the progress DayZ has made over the course of it's lifetime. It's shaping up to be the true zombie apocalypse simulator we all envisioned.
  11. Pretty much this. Jogging and farming gets old, even having a moderate supply of pea-shooters such as pistols (makarov) and sporters would help keep the game being ..enjoyable. Running around looting for 2 hours and not getting a ranged weapon with ammo of any sort would cause a large, if not majority of the population to log off. This includes myself. There has to be a balance. Not everyone wants a complete wasteland simulator where the only weapons outside of airfields are glass bottles to throw at eachother. This is basically the main reason I enjoyed Lingor Island so much. More weapons, smaller map, more interactions. It's still balanced to have a lot of military loot if everyone has access to it. Some people fail to realize this and would rather run around for hours and knucklefight eachother. So. Freaking. Boring!

    Stable Branch - 0.55 Discussion

I was just poking fun. Also, I guess I missed that quote. Thanks for replying though! Haven't tried the update yet, but definitely looking forward to the infected changes.

So I'm guessing the reason this patch was released on April Fools was because the patch notes weren't documented yet? LOL

    DayZ 2.0 - The Sequel

I would much, much prefer expansions over a sequel. Hell, you could even boast one of the great features of an expansion as being a conversion over to the Arma3 engine (which probably isn't possible, but would be awesome if so).

DayZ Standalone Or Arma 2 DayZ mod?

Considering the mod is pretty heavily pay-to-win with all the badmins (bad admins), I am currently playing Standalone over the mod. The only mod maps currently look like this: -"Donating" for starting loadouts (does complete shame to the word "donate") Aka $5-40 a month for starting with anything from pistol / backpacks to sniper rifles+ghillie suits, etc -"Donating" for vaults that only paying players can use -"Donating" for locked bases that only paying players can use -NPC traders Barf. Keep in mind that DayZ SA gets updates every 2-3 weeks and is shaping up to be a much more complete game and experience (farming, fishing, etc etc) and DayZ mod is probably near the end of it's life-span. I can't see it getting an update more than once every few months, and a small one at that. An entire company isn't getting paid to update the game, it's a few individuals updating their map at best. With that said, I currently do not even play DayZ SA that much at the present time, as I am waiting for it to shape up and get more content / be better optimized. I still do enjoy to hop on now and then and mess around though. That is my two cents on the matter. Cheers. edit: Forgot to mention the "hacking" situation. DayZ SA was rebuilt from the ground up for the main reason of combatting hacking. Yes, there is still rare cases of hackers in DayZ, but BattleEye (the anti-cheat) is being worked on heavily, as well as the whole server infrastructure has been redesigned so people can't just write up scripts and butcher the server. Things such as "thunderdoming" (teleporting all the players on the server to one spot) is only possible in the mod, as far as I know. Also, as MrCactusMan said before, the mod might be a more enjoyable experience at the moment as it should have way more guns/items/crafting/base creation tools/etc at the moment. DayZ SA looks alot nicer though (it presently uses the Arma 2.5 engine, that was used in Take On Helicopters).
