    Maintenance

Wednesday maintenance no longer wipes persistence, unsure if this is the same for vehicles. Guess you'll find out after today's!
  2. Title. Managed to fix up a few cars in the latest patch, however, each time I log off for the night, my precious car has done the vanishing act when I log on the following morning. Note that I always removed the battery and spark plug before logging out. Its very possible someone stumbled on my secluded hiding places, however I thought id make this thread just to be safe. Has anyone else had their vehicles disappear on server restart? Cheers.
  3. So with the release of .59 I decided to plonk myself down and play for a solid four hours straight with the sole intent of finding one of the new vehicles and road tripping from Solnichy to the North East Airfield, I was also pleased to see that the update included "zombies reintroduced in large numbers" in the changelog. That is, until after my second hour of searching for a vehicle which included 0 zombie encounters (from Chernogorsk to Berezino) and 0 found vehicles. Now, I can understand that vehicles are more or less a luck of the draw and I might not have been lucky enough to find one of the 10 or so spawning vehicles across the entirety of Chernarus, and that's fine, I'll just look again next time, but zombies? I was looking forward to seeing zombies again, it's been months since I've seen a zombie in DayZ, and while I understand why their spawns were lowered I've been eagerly awaiting their return only to not find any when they supposedly have returned. After another 2 hours I ended up walking to North East and being shot instantly which is about what I expected, and disappointingly, I did not see a single zombie. Or any animals for that matter. Anyone else having this issue? Is this an issue? Is it really just me?

    My Party Bus Experience

I wrote everything in a hurry. I just realised this sentence doesn't make any sense. Thanks for correcting me. I always forget turning down effects while I am driving. Vehicles are very loud indeed, I hope it will change soon with new sound system. This guard idea is really great, but as you can see most of the people there didn't have any weapons and everything was completly random and not planned. There's always dickheads who wants to kill you even if you have fun, but that's just dayz. If they will implement shooting while driving that would really help with protecting yourself. Right now even if you have guards they need to leave first and by that time someone can shot them really easly. Barrel can be moved for sure, I don't know if you can do it after making hole in it. Defibrillator is a good thing, but most of the time you are being killed and then no one can help you, if you are unconscious there's a good chance you will wake up without defibrillator. Thanks for the comment S3V3N, really good points. I appreciate it as always.

    destroying vehicles

I found 2 offroad and a sedan hopless bugged in some stones on my server. every attempt to get them down there did not work. Can we destroy them in anyway or make them respawn w/o whiping the sever?

Something I must get off my chest....

Trying hard to not quote kirk facepalm on each and every question buttttt 1) hype is from the community. Community doesn't build SA. BI Does. Money doesn't build games. More money only means you have a larger, stronger base to work from, a taughter safety net, and more time to develop. It does not imply any particular speed increase. Same as employing more and more monkeys to write your scrpt, it doesn't make it any better or come along faster. Valve has a game empire but where is HL3? Episode 3? This is basically a non-question because you seem to fail to understand the basics of imaginitive/artistic creation, project management, etc... 2) There are less zombies than in the mod atm. Yes. and i'll state it outright, this is a WIP. NWAF has more than a handful, Zeleno has more than a handful, plenty of places have upwards of 30+ zombies that i've seen, although there is talk of people unsure as to whether they respawn currently after being killed, so they may have been killed off in your limited exposure to the current patch. 3) The game has not lost features as far as i can tell. If you're talking about why the complete overhaul standalone game does not have the exact same features as the frankenstein of a mod does? That mod that was built upon a fully functioning open world game with vehicles and weapons already developed, and a guy called Dean slapped in some buggy zombie AI and a few 3D models for them? Well, the answer (believe it or not) is: WIP. Please note these are direct responses to your questions of limited scope. The response (and indeed your questions) ignore the large positive change that has come about since Alpha release, the marked increase in stability from previous updates in 0.59, and the upcoming work planned. Also, you honestly can't expect to go around talking ignorance and then pleading that mods don't remove the thread, or people don't mention 'the alpha' when a) you're basically uninformed, ignorant, or too lazy to research, and B) the game is still in development - read alpha. It's like me abusing a cop and telling him to stay calm, or asking why things fall towards earth but the teacher can't mention the word gravity. I'm unsure as to the basis of your frustration though. Is it impatience that the game isn't done yet and you want to play it, or that you're bitter and have no faith in the project and seek to tear it down? Also while i may frequent these forums, i wouldn't consider myself a 'hardcore' DayZ player. I've probably got less then 500hours played (closer to 300) and only jump in sporadically to check out each patch. I've waited 10 years for games like HalfLife2, the new Diablo, Prey and Bioshock, and i'm also over 13 so i have the patience and comprehension to acknowledge and appreciate work being undergone, before we cry 'fanboi'.
  7. I usually dont bother with reporting servers that kick me as soon as i join but in the last few days it has happend so much that i started doing it. The other day i reported like 10 of them. But now im seriously pissed off. Me and my friends spend all day today and yesterday setting up camp and getting vehicles fixed. One of my friends got dayz'ed when i was taking wheels of our car, the car spun out like crazy killing him. So i was driving back to the coast to go pick him up when me and my friend suddenly got kicked from the server. We tried getting back in but got kicked withing 30 sec of joining. There's just one guy on there now (the admin) and we cant get to our stuff. (2x Gaz Volga, V3S, Car tent, 2 small tents, 3 barrels) Three of us have reported the server now and ill ask the rest of our group to do the same. I would also appreciate if some people from this community do the same. 216.155.140.172:2302 hosted by gameservers. Try to get on and see what happens... if u do it right now whilst the admin is on there i guarantee u will be kicked. I managed to contact the guy on steam but he didnt reply to me, i explained to him about the camp and how he was breaking the rules but he didnt care and just blocked me. ( http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198126381710/) i know he speaks english because hese from california. Anyways i had to come on here and vent my frustration.
  8. The protector case, Ammo Box, Backpack and small dry bag should fall in the same category. If that's the case, then abotu an hour or more like the backpack maybe? I wish there were more persistent storage items. The wardrobes don't seem to work very well either. So all we have are tents, vehicles and oil barrels... I'm assuming there will be more in the future.
  9. Funkmaster Rick

Persistence? Oil Barrels, Tents and Backpacks Working?

Vehicles are persistent - anything you store in them will stay. If you open the lid on a barrel, I think it should give you the option to empty the liquid - I assume you need to empty out the items first. And game development takes time.
  10. So are these working correctly now, or is there still a danger of losing your stuff? What other options do we have? I've messed around with these Wardrobes, but the items seem to disappear after awhile. What about vehicles? Will they hold items without losing them? Are vehicles totally persistent? Also, what's the deal with all of your gear getting wet in these oil barrels? Is there a way to empty them out of water or fuel before placing items inside of them? I stopped playing 6 or 8 months ago because there was no way to store your gear or make a camp. So this seems like a positive move for DayZ... Finally after two years in alpha.

    New vehicles - discusion

We build all vehicles together. With some friends its not that tricky. The new part system is pritty cool and so the manual shifting. The sedan is my favorit car. High speed paired with adequat offroad abillities. A bit annoying is the fact that the car becomes instable on top speed. Another thing is that you cant drive with to cars closer then 50m. to each other. It feels like lagging. The Offroad is the 2nd best imo. nice speed and good offroad abillities but more instable which comes from the very soft suspension. The Bus is a great vehicle too. Its a thing you must have driven, even when its not very usefull in your all day play. The V3S ... Im not sured if its just buggy or was nerfed to the ground. Even with pristine parfs only you are not able to go over smaler objectes like pedestrian walk or smaler stones witch is a shame for a 6x6 offroadable truck! It tested 2 different trucks. Both just reached 60 with shift. Anx accelerated realy poor. Even small acclicitys are dramatic in the firdt gear. So i will keep the sedan and wait for a v3s patch/buff. Ps. Allways keep your wheels pristine and have a lug wrench + tire repair kit in your inventory

    New vehicles - discusion

My experience hasn't been the same as you folk. Granted, I play with friends, but even running around solo it hasn't been too difficult to get a car going. Tires and parts are pretty abundant. So are the vehicles themselves. Maybe I've just been lucky though.

    New vehicles - discusion

Friends, I spent 8 hours yesterday trying to get a sedan working, ıt's indeed hard work, but you get the results of your hardwork. The new vehicles are really fun to drive.
  14. blackberrygoo

oh my god help me with this sedan please

You should give up on this server , it's not pogo it's the state of the sedans , the cars wont reset until they are destroyed and me and my cousins figured out if the sedan even TOUCHES something (a sign , a tree , a rock , a building , a curb) it freaks out , loses all physics and starts either sliding uncontrollably or will just do donuts or swerve when you try and drive it (even with 4 pristine wheels). So my advise : server hop (omagash he said server hop !!!) until you find a pogorevka with sedan spawns UNTOUCHED , this is sometimes hard but when you learn the 2 natural sedan spawns in pogo you can server hop until you find the ones that haven't been bumped into objects yet (as I said above , those ones you tried getting out had already bumped into something most likely, whether it was you or someone else , those sedans are bugged now until they explode). Hope this helps , we found over 6 sedans like this (with broken and glitched physics) and we actually figured out it only happens when you bump the sedan into objects . So as soon as you bump It and it starts acting crazy , ditch it and grab all the parts you can and move on . I love this patch , it really makes me feel like we are in an apocalypse trying to get outta dodge ... But the vehicles are somewhat unbearable atm hah !
  15. No need, this happens because the vehicles are sliding at almost any slope when they don't have wheels. Which makes no sense to me. The devs will eventually fix this anyway, I am pretty sure they already know the vehicles slide down the slopes.

    Guessing .60!

I didn't bother to read your post because your first sentence demonstrates you have no clue what you're talking about. base building is not reliant on the renderer. the "new engine" is not some separate entity to be merged, it's what they've been working on/creating all along. i'm not saying they should have rushed it, i'm saying like many other major systems (weapons, clothing, farming, vehicles, crafting, melee, animals, everything) the foundation should have been put in much earlier so they could build upon it like everything else they've done. Btw in regards to this https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/220448-precise-object-placement/This is from february.

    New UI?

I've been switching back and forth for a while but I'm staying in -newui about 90% of the time now. You can remove wheels with a lug wrench in oldui, but to detach anything else from a vehicle I think you'll need to be in newui if you wanted to take a spark plug out of a sedan, for example, it might be newui only. I believe there's no problem attaching things to vehicles under oldui, just removing them. Be forewarned newui is still rough and glitchy. There were nonworking icons in experimental newui but those have vanished for now, I guess until they get them working. In newui you might have trouble loading mags into various guns which is no fun for anybody, Your gun choices may be limited to what works and what doesn't. I've had trouble with the sporter, mosin, sks and others, but the blaze, winchester and smg's seem to work fine for me. And as blacktwin said above no statuses other than messages. Depending on your playstyle you might simply hate it or you might find it more immersive because it feels more spontaneous (at least to me it does). You'll suddenly find yourself in a red overheating state with little warning and then need to suddenly change your plans and find water to cool of quickly. or a barely noticeable "I am thirsty" under the oldui is now a critical notice under newui as it could turn into dehydration quickly since there is no way to check your thirst/hunger/temperature/stuffed/sickness/condition, you must now wait for the next message to appear. The fps boost I'm getting is just barely noticeable, if you switched over to newui solely for fps purposes you'd probably switch right back as it's a bit of a game-changer. I will say that even though it's glitchy it does grow on you after a while.

    New UI?

The newui provides some additional FPS for some. Some have said that the newui is needed for interacting with vehicles, though I don't know how true this is. Reload animations are bugged with the newui. Precision is needed in the newui, meaning you can't just drag items around and expect them to go where they should. You need to actually drag the items to the block you are intending to put it. No statuses other then messages. Try it out and see for yourself.

    VSS Is A Beast Weapon

Most powerfull round on 100-200m distances. Not for long range sniping. Exelent for ambush in urban areas. It should be able to penetrate any vehicles doors (IRL penetrates most of armoured vests).
  20. Girth Brooks

    Stable .59 good things.

-newui means you can remove anything from vehicles with no tools. Old ui means you need tools and you still won't be able to remove battery and plug (unless that has been ninja patched) If someone puts a car tire on with the old UI and you use new UI you will not be able to remove said tire, only someone with old UI can and vice versa. Same thing for any items stored in vehicles. I'm still not super happy with the -newui... but the fps increase is nice.... I've also noticed reloading mags for guns may not work with old UI

I finally got my wish :)

So you think this video is more like those production-quality, fan-driven Minecraft vids? Seems to me it would more of a PITA to make one of those than to just wait until you had enough in development to show a sandboxed WIP (as stated). All the other WIP vids (i.e. new guns, vehicles, buildings, zombie AI) proved to be almost exactly what was eventually released. These are not PR videos.
  22. Girth Brooks

    Stable .59 good things.

Interacting with vehicles.. you really need to use the new UI

    Status Report - 10 Dec 2015

That means we'll need a 9V battery to get our bikes operational! JK :P I'm curious to see how they'll handle the "inventory" for the bike. Rather than an open space like the existing vehicles, I think it should have particular slots that only certain types of items will attach to (like how you have primary weapon and melee weapon slots on your character). They could even have the item(s) sit on a parcel shelf over the rear wheel
  24. Afternoon Survivors, In this week's Status Report, our Lead Producer Brian will inform us of the current state of development as well as give us a peek at a couple of the incoming vehicles/transportation devices. Also, our Lead Designer Peter will let us in on future plans for hunting and horticulture which looks exciting to those of us who enjoy the hermit lifestyle. Contents This Week Development Board SpotlightDev Update/HicksDev Update/PeterCommunity Spotlight: Isaaq Development Board Spotlight Dev Update/Hicks Happy Holidays everyone! This Status Report will be the last one for this year, as for the last two weeks of this month the team slowly starts heading home to spend the holidays with their families. That said, we have some cool stuff to talk about and show this week, as well as updates on the major engine work everyone is curious about - and even a few new screenshots. ONCE AGAIN - BE AWARE THAT 0.59 STABLE UPDATE BRINGS A COMPLETE AND TOTAL WIPE OF CHARACTERS, ITEMS, AND SERVER DATA! Later today we will bring the Stable Branch servers offline for the 0.59 update. Changelog should follow shortly after the update - and notifications on the service will come from the official DayZ Dev Team twitter account. (twitter.com/dayzdevteam) Please keep in mind - this is but one build on the path of development. It will have its own issues, absent features, bugs, and so on - the best thing you can do to help bring DayZ towards the game we all can't wait to see it become is to file those bugs over at feedback.dayzgame.com ! This report, I'd like to give you all an update on where the new animation system, as well as the new renderer are - and what the next goals in their development are. Animation System: Currently Completed: - Animation Engine Base - Animation Engine Editor Current Focus: - Infected, Player, and Animal skeleton support/graph production - Finishing synchronizations - Finishing differential animations - Ramp up for animators on new technology Next Up: - Add nodes to support more extensive functionality - Synthetic Rotations - Removing legacy animation system tech once deprecated Renderer: Currently Completed: - DX 11 Water Surface Rendering - DX 11 Ambient Occlusion Current Focus: - Optimization / Parrellization - Clouds Rendering While at PAX Australia I spoke briefly on how I'd like to be able to bring the Little Bird to stable branch before Christmas - and how if anything prevented that I'd make sure to let you all know. That said - the programming teams now have the first of our aircraft operating on the proper physics system, however multiplayer sync is not quite ready for the Steam branches. While we won't be seeing in time for Christmas - I'm confident we're not too far off now. :) Keep an eye on the DayZ Trello board to track the progress of this task! That said! The art team has finished on the upcoming Jana Dirtbike - which you can see in the below screenshots: Now that the Jana is complete, work has just begun on everyone’s favorite DayZ method of transportation - THE BICYCLE Lastly this week - I'd like to give you all a sneak peek at some of the awesome stuff some of the team in Bratislava have been working on. It’s no secret that we've wanted to bring dangerous predatory animal threats to the woods and fields of Chernarus - and we're getting close to being able to do just that! - Brian Hicks / Lead Producer Dev Update/Peter Along with scavenging for non-perishable food and cultivation of your own crops, the wildlife of Chernarus offers yet another way how to gather food important for survival. As most of you know or guessed gathering food thru horticulture and hunting will be promoted in the future over non-perishable food as that should be quite rare to find. Animals in DayZ have their day cycle and you can learn by observation what their territories are and where are the points of their interests, may it be water reservoirs, grazing or resting areas. Hunting shouldn't be trivial as animals are very sensitive to your presence and will flee if they notice something unusual going on. However what will the hunting be without the possibility to track your prey down? Tracking is a must have to deepen the hunting experience and make it more enjoyable. Not to mention it as a necessity for following fleeing animals by different signs and marks they leave. Hooves or paws prints, blood stains and scraped ground, even stomped grass patches will help you with localization if you follow them carefully. The same system will be used for tracking of survivors by their foot prints or blood stains and also vehicles, which can leave tracks or stains from leaking operation fluids and don't forget destroyed small items as mileages, sign posts and others as shown in the last Status Report. I'm happy to see how such small details generated by dynamic entities will add to the overall authenticity of static world. Keep your eyes open... see you in Chernarus folks! - Peter Nespesny / Lead Designer Community Spotlight: Isaaq Hey all, So for this time around I came across a couple of videos created by Isaaq. Isaaq seems to be primarily doing RP which always makes for an interesting watch. In particular I enjoyed the video "A Strange Land" which shows the struggles of "a man who just woke up on the coast": If you go to Isaaq's Youtube channel, you'll find a couple more videos which are quite good. Hopefully we'll see more DayZ videos in the future as well. Also, you'll be able to follow Isaaq via his Twitch and Twitter channels where you can catch his streams and news on new videos. As always, if you have a nice video containing DayZ footage you'd like to share, or if you have come across some DayZ footage from other content creators, just post it in the Gallery section of the DayZ forums and we'll happily have a look. [Clarification] DayZ Server Monetization

Please read previous posts in this topic or the set of rules provided via the link to our website. A custom loadout of gear, food, weapons, ammo and vehicles would affect gameplay and would not be allowed to be issued out to players. Yep, I'd say likewise.
