SVD always, but if you're not fortunate enough to have found one then a Blaze/Winchester is just as good. Personal choice for backup would be supressed AK74su, UMP then MP5.

I prefer a pistol in a holster, so it doesn't get ruined when you get shot rather than an smg/ak74.

The SVD is by far the most superior sniping weapon, but if you can't find the rifle and mags take the Blaze. As a backup to the Blaze I use the FNX or AKS74U.

I like the m4 700m, and the ump. 400m

Basically the same gun @2

I used to like the mosin + ak74u or Mp5

I have been looking for a hunting scope to put onto the rifles. Haven't found one yet to try those ones you guys suggested.

I like black in color for clothing, or the ghille hat, with green colors to blend in.

I really like to try the SVD out one day.

I can't even manage to find anything better than a sporter, lord

But anyways to stay efficient and last long through thick and thin out there in that cruel, cruel world, you gotta think about what your secondary weapon will compensate for, for your primary weapon.

The blaze 95 is a double chambered weapon. "pop pop" and you gotta reload, but what happens when you're in the moment and you gotta bust a cap in someone but your gun is empty? You switch to your secondary of course! For a blaze 95 I'd ensure that my secondary had a fast fire rate and a decently sized magazine (or storage capacity) if it were something such as an sks.. but obviously an sks cannot be a secondary weapon! But in all honesty others have said it too; it's all about who you are and what your preference is.

Cheers!

#1 Your brain. Actually thinking ahead will save your bacon 99% of the time, above any "loadout" you could choose. Think about where you are, where the enemy is likely to go, and any and all available cover between here, there, and especially behind you. Nothing quite like sneaking up on a scoped-in bushwookie to make you feel good about yourself.

2) STICK AND MOVE. So many "snipers" I see like to lay in the same spot, shooting at the same spots. The Blaze is good for avoiding this; with its 2rnd capacity, you have to be good about changing positions. Take a shot, wait a minute, move back into cover, then move to the next posting.

3) Guns

Now, of course, the "best" weapon is the one you are most comfortable with. Me? I hate  the WInchester. I love me some Blaze. Good iron sights (that glow in the dark!), flat shooting out to 300 meters (Being able to mount a scope is just gravy), ability to "shotgun" if the enemy gets too close, and a single box of ammo will last you for 10 reloads. Some people think that is a bad thing, I just reply " SKIRMISH, MOTHERFUCKER!". With the Blaze, you have to be able to bounce from cover to cover. Reloading takes only a second (do the snaploaders even exist anymore?), but you still want to swivel your head around like a tweaker. Push forward, pop a shot, fall back, pop a shot, push forward, take a shot, lather rinse repeat. If you are not careful, and stop skirmishing, you will be out-shot, even by a 5rnd bolt-action.

For secondaries, I usually carry two: a sawed-off shotgun with plenty of shells, and a revolver with plenty of shells and preferably 2 speedloaders. Both give you plenty of punch for the space (revolver in a holster + ammo and loaders= 3 slots, shotgun + ammo = 5 slots). Yeah, an automatic pistol has a higher capacity, but you have skill and derring-do on your side. I've out-shot AR-weilding kiddies with a revolver before (quite easily, if I may say so myself)

Oh look another sniper thread.

Best weapon would be a pair of adult diapers, so you can sit in one spot.

You sure the diapers aren't for you being a baby?

In my opinion......

Blaze-svd tie, mosin, sporter, vss, winchester, cr 527.

Secondary......

Ump-aks 74u tie, mp5, skorpian, an m4 or any other automic rifle on yoir back, rak, any pistol, any sawn off weapon..

I sometimes snipe not always though I even got a chance to use the vss

A baseball bat with nails in it is the only backup you'll ever need.

I don't understand this. A "nail-bat", when viewed realistically, is a pretty shitty weapon.

Maybe I'll make a new thread about it.

Since this is not a shooter, but a survival game, any weapon fits, as I tend to sneak in my prey. Most times I prefer the axe. But that won't answer your question.

I also will say that the Mosin with PU is great too. It can do quick reloads unlike the Winchester and that recoil compensator and open sight picture from the PU make it very easy to aim accurately with. You just lack the extreme precision and range of the Winchester and Blaze.

I've pretty much gave up on playing .58 so if anyone wants an SVD give me a shout (it's on a private shard though, sorry). I also have a decked out M4 if anyone wants.

I've pretty much just started my DayZ adventures, but I find the Blaze to be my gun of choice for sniping. The Trumpet is just too weak with it's .22 shot. . For backup, I like a magnum or a Red 5.

Granted, I try to play the Hero and only take out hostile bandit types. . Granted, I've had someone backstab my good nature.

Aside from the SVD, wouldn't the Mosin be the logical choice?

I mean, I own one in real life and it is an amazing rifle.  I always pick it up in game if I find it and it has never failed me, yet.

The Mosin is an amazing weapon because of its versatility with the PU Scope and its power and sustained fire capabilities over other higher caliber firearms (besides the SVD,) though it does lack the zoom and thus the range and precision of the Blaze and Winchester when they are using the Hunting Scope. However, in almost every sniping situation I've been in the Mosin has been more than adequate with accuracy and zoom, and I've generally been able to outshoot other snipers and even some automatic armed players in some medium-long range gunfights thanks to the quick reload of the Stripper Clips and 5 round magazine capacity. This makes it superior for sustained fire over the Blaze (as the Blaze has a lengthy reload every two shots,) and the Winchester (as the Winchester has no speed reloading system,) whilst the open sight picture of the PU Scope over the Hunting Scope means it is easy to realign your shots onto the target and fire again. The ability to spray paint the Mosin and add a Recoil Compensator makes it even more versatile and suited to sniping roles in many aspects as well.

I almost always use the Mosin over the Winchester, but that being said, I do absolutely love the Blaze with Hunting Scope for dedicated sniping over the Mosin, simply because of that near instant follow up shot capability.

I hate the pu scope. Not that it isnt bad, i just feel its not as nice as the long range was.

It really depends on the individual. Some like to see around the scope, others like to peer directly into the scope for long range only.

then

Swap out to the close range like the ump45 with the m68 scope. I enjoy the combo the m4, ump45 has to offer.
