Exp Update: 0.56.127TheBeast.

Recommended Posts

Can you tell us your PC spec's and your monitor resolution ?

I am running at anywhere between 70-130 in the wilderness and around 45-60 in towns and cities...

Specs are: i7 4790K OC 4.4ghz, Gigabyte R9 280X 3gb, 8gb ram, playing off a 250GB SSD,, Having to play at 720p though as my 42" just black screens DayZ at 1080p, think its something to do with the refresh rate as I never had this problem on my old 32" tv which could cope with 1080p at 60Hz...

So this is interesting: I tried cooking down some tomatoes that I had in my inventory. They go through a first wrinkled and then shriveled phase when put over the fire. I shriveled three of them, ate them and got very minor sickness... I also didn't get any seeds from them just by cooking them.

I greatly appreciate your "survivally" posts, Ebrim.

I'll be much better prepared for living off the land because of you and similar players efforts.

Thanks. An update on whatever sickness I got, it's not normal food poisoning. I never vomited, got orange sick (still am but nearly energized to heal) but I keep getting messages that I am really exhausted. Maybe more diseases have been implemented?

Finding tools SHOULDNT be a fucking struggle. I can understand other items but what the fuck is some one going to do with 20 hammers and screwdrivers hording them all? lol

Just basic tools shouldn't be as damn rare as they currently are at the moment.

The basic premise of the game is the struggle for survival. If you could stop into the local sporting goods store, or hardware store in Cherno and pick up everything that you need / want there would be no struggle.

The fact that someone is hording hammers does not preclude the spawning of additional hammers by the CLE. Any hammer in a personal inventory, tent, barrel, or back pack is not factored into CLE decisions / calculations.

The rarity of items will be adjusted once the CLE is fully implemented and tuned. There are 1,742,796 possible spawn locations. I would be surprised if the devs have finished configuring all of them by now. We are still VERY early in the process!

Has everyone forgotten when the temperature mechanic was introduced? One minute we were huddled around fires, freezing our nuts off and the next minute, we were soaking our nuts in a pond, trying to cool off. It may be inconvenient for us, but it is necessary for the devs to find workable minimums and maximums for each mechanic that they introduce. Chill, the CLE is no different.

I'm really loving the new hunting jackets. I'm hoping that since the old hunters pants aren't spawning (at least I haven't seen them) it means they're getting re-textured to match.

I found a camo hunting jacket and it REALLY looks snazzy. They really did a good job with it. If I had matching pants, my body would feel moist all over!

Expect they will remove zombies in next stable patch : quoted from stats report

"As the programming team moves ahead on investigating infected costs on server side performance, we'll be disabling infected spawning on stable branch servers (post-stable update)to ensure the highest quality of gameplay on that branch."  what a mess, what gameplay quality if there are no infected ? a typical TDM game, I can understand if it's in Exp but on stable ! .

Clearly, they are working on the zeds and they have resolved themselves to addressing the problem. But, they can not allow this issue to derail the progress of every other aspect of the game. They have to continue to iterate, so that other mechanics can be tested. Besides, there is no reason why the zeds can not be re-introduced via a hotfix, once the problem is ironed out.

It seems to me that I read that we will have the ability to dry fruit & veggies. Initially, I wondered why we would want to, but I suspect that their condition will degenerate while in our inventory. Whereas currently, their condition seems to remain static when in our inventory. If so, that would make sense - dry the items so as to preserve them. So, to finally get to my point / question, has anyone tried to dry fruits & veggies and if so, what were the results and what method did you use?

Well, so far I've only tried it with the tomato as I mentioned above. Eating the most dried version of the tomato seems to have gotten me sick, though that may be coincidence? I've been too busy not dying from sickness since then to test it with anything else.

The good news is that after a good vomit from pumping water down my throat and then eating a ton of apples (++hydration +energy is good when you're sick), I've finally got myself to green/green so maybe I'll start getting better and experimenting again. :D

You've got me really curious now. I can't imagine why they should have made you sick.

Get well soon! :)

Well so this was all quite strange. The sick status went away and for a while I was doing okay, except that I was still losing hydration as if I were sick. Maybe as a result of downing so much water (all from wells or purified from ponds) I either had had or contracted cholera. I took antibiotics but they did nothing to stop the advance as far as I could tell and just now I went unconscious. :(

The plot thickens!

Is there any chance that your purification tablets were damaged, or ruined? Did you forget to empty your water bottle. before using it? I just don't see how you contract cholera from cooked tomatoes, unless what has actually has happened is that the devs have sneaked some other disease into the game, without telling us.

Just an update for everyone concerning the Winchester 70, another issue apart from the new hunting scope not zooming, is that the rifle is currently semi automatic.

Despite the weapon being bolt action it fires as fast as you can click at the moment. Shot off an entire 5 round spell in about 1 second. Sounded like a LMG. Anyone else experienced this?

So I had been using the canteen long before I got sick... The tablets were damaged I think. I suspect that whatever disease I got (food poisoning most likely) weakened me enough and made me thirsty enough to be susceptible to cholera. Two diseases without ever having been "healthy" ultimately took me down, I think. What's tragic about it was that I was at one point recovering back to health, I was seeing colors again, perhaps trying to move around too much and switching water sources did me in. Either way it was actually a lot of fun, I'll have to try eating dried tomatoes again...

Yeah, it's broken. It should require a cycle of the bolt before each shot but it doesn't. I'm sure they will get around to it.

Perhaps damaged purification tablets merely reduce the odds of getting cholera, while pristine tablets reduce the odds to 0%?

Where's WOBO when you need him???

Now that you mention it the only thing I've got to shoot with mine was the gas pumps at girishno and I did pop, pop, pop pop pop, no bolt animation and real fast in hindsight.

The pumps didn't blow up and putting campstove gas canisters aren't blowing up in fires either.

Did you overcook (aka burn) them? You also wrote: "They go through a first wrinkled and then shriveled phase when put over the fire. I shriveled three of them, ate them and got very minor sickness..", so I guess you overdid it. There is light and medium food poisioning, iirc you don't puke with light one. Maybe stop when they are wrinkled?

Nononno, you put the image code into the spoiler code... go to the "Special BBCode" and select spoiler ... THEN INSIDE OF the spoiler you put the image with the image selector just at the right side of the link thing. ... you can also google "forums.dayzgame.com spoiler" and one of the top results is how to do it .. by kichi me thinks.

Normally when I try experimental, it is all the same except a few of the minor changes added in, like new weapons and items and sometimes different zombies or behavior. Right now it seems like experimental for me is all screwed up. Items are stuck on me, in my bags, copy images, vanishing and reappearing items all over. Quickbar is screwed up. It seems like a drastic engine change. To sum up, bambi on coast, stone knife, crossed half the map the get into stable condition, toughest time I have ever had so far to get comfortable and still wearing starting pants and mostly lame gear. Got to a tank that wasn't looted and got a machine gun with a couple mags. Not a single zombie to be seen so far. Thirst and hunger seem to come on fast. I have a Winchester and damaged hunting scope and some ammo so I feel better now. I'll have to go back and play stable soon, cause the items freaking out is bothersome. Do I need to manually update some files or something to smooth out experimental? I'm going to hover around some trucks and tanks that I found and see if anything new spawns. It seems kinda like there is a single spawn of gear and that is it. Like the only things I find are stuff people missed.

The devs are working on a couple of different tasks, so Exp is a little unpredictable at the moment.

The hotbar is currently broken, but if you abstain from using it, it will solve a lot of the inventory issues that you are experiencing. When you craft rags, they have a tendency to disappear, but they frequently materialize later.

Zeds are one of the problems being actively looked at. The zeds seem to be at the root of a performance issue, so they have been removed and reintroduced several times over the past few days, so that the devs can collect performance data.

While it is sometimes possible to see loot spawn, it's very unusual. It's usually best to leave the area and come back later.

Seems a bit pointless without infected especially once you are past the initial survival part. I am looking forward to the hysteria when this hits stable though.

fully agree, but THIS is what testing is about - a good exaple why we shouldn't expect an alpha to be a complete game. Beta would be a different matter, but yeah. We all knew it could come to that, some teenies aside.
