Not sure what the take-away from this is supposed to be...

I don't want to be overly optimistic and then have my hopes crushed

Geez, we are worst than children on christmas eve. And devs are even worst for keeping us in dark!

no need to talk... i can read.

do u have the claim?

http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/220397-new-renderer/

In this thread, Eugen talks about the optimizations that will result in FPS increase.

I'm having trouble finding the tweet about running alpha code from the renderer for FPS boost in cities, but it is kicking around here and if you care enough, you will find it. I will keep looking. It wasn't from very long ago at all.

There will be further performance increases when they finish hooking DirectX 11 and eventually DirectX 12 into the new renderer as well.

EDIT: And here's this -

"The renderer is not multithreaded yet, but if VR and Enfusion is ran in single thread mode you can see about 30-40% increase in fps. Probably will translate in multithread version."

Just found a Jibber downstairs so I'm feeling better about the whole super impatient for .56 thang , but I still wonder what .56 experimental might entail ... Gentlemen and savage alike , will you dream with me ? I dream , that in .56 experimental , we will see inventories for trucks, a build where CLE's a must, fishing with hooks for fish with not just guts , but cuts (of meat)! Oh yes , in this grandier i see the only "splosion" to be is of landmines , well have a grand time , and hopefully accelerated it will beeeeeeee! Ok I'm gonna stop willy wonka-ing you guys but seriously what's your ideas for what .56 will have ?

I foresee greatness with .56; especially with the disappointment with the last patch...

Isn't anyone happy that all their gear is still there? Except the occasional glitches (AKM got away from me). But we have our tents, our backpacks, our good health and everything else still in place. Also Ak 101 mags are back!!! And I have a truck again. I think I'm gonna go out on minial gear this patch, see if I meet anyone else traveling around. I always wanted to go with only a pistol and shitloads of ammo. Have to remember to take a weapon cleaning kit, though. I managed to get one CR75 ruined and will try to never do that again. I'll probably just hike up along the coast. Not the most interesting route, but one 'I haven't taken in a long time.

I noticed one weird thing with magazines, not sure if it is new. If your inventory is full and you drag a magazine into e.g. a pair of pants and then try to switch it with one from your inventory, it will vanish. Only the one you put in the pants will be there and you have two empty slots. I'm not sure it it works if you have 2 slots free. I've had several magazines disappear also when just trying to switch them between the tent and my gear (and I don't think my inventory was always full then).

To be safe I only move one magazine at a time.

I have encountered similar and have since been extra careful moving magazines.

I tried to move a mag from one part of my inventory to another and it disappeared.

Also swapping guns in a military tent seemed to despawn the gun I was trying to put away.

It is true that some of the most active users here spend more time chatting here than actually playing the game. Which is fine, but the input is usually pretty irrelevant.

This comment just goes to show that hours / posts are irrelevant. You just made yourself guilty of it, too.

Consider this a last chance. Too much offtopic going on, this topic is about 0.55 Stable and 0.55 Stable only.

yeah, I personally can't wait for the new hunting jackets; finally will have something to match the winter pants.

and you will find that winter hunter jacket quite easily, winter camo is not really popular these days ! (winter is not coming)

autumn and summer gear for me ! ;)

I have to say I'm not liking the newest patch and the new loot system at all :( But I THINK I'm in the minority here so I don't expect it to change, I dunno maybe I'll get used to it, but it just seems like more running and less action. Yesterday I spawned in and ran for what seemed like forever without finding a weapon or food to the point that I starved to death. It was the most boring life Ive ever had on DayZ. And yes I went in land too, started at Cherno and ran north to the little towns up there (Moggy, Nadz, Vyshnoy etc).

Is there any timeline for streamlining the netcode? Started playing with my family and a second account so I tethered my cell phone to free up the satellite for the other computer and was using something like 100megs an hour. I'd eat my data cap in 4 weekdays which seem crazy compared to other games I've used it on.

It's been acknowledged that the game uses a lot of bandwidth, but I don't recall seeing any plan to address it.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like they are using UDP messages, so since there are no receipt confirmations, the game constantly spams its messages, to ensure that they get through. One of these days, when I have nothing better to do , I'll have to fire up a packet sniffer and verify that this is actually what's going on.

Don't forget this one, too: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/220397-new-renderer/page-8#entry2254328

The current renderer doesn't do proper occlusion culling. The other improvements will certainly help, but culling will probably give the biggest boost.

i sadly have to wait til EXP to start a new life and journey, my 1PP servers are deserted  but i feel as soon as the patch hits experimental we will all be filling the servers up... its a real bummer its not even being released this week, it must be something huge.

same here, i have trouble finding good and well populated 1st person server.

it might not be huge in the way you think. CLE, proper loot respawn and persistance seems to be very hard tasks. i think they are still struggling with these features.

A tech update. Mmmm, I wonder what that could be. It certainly doesn't rule out map changes, hunting clothes, or scopes, etc. But, I can't help but wonder what they are beavering away at on the tech side. CLE? Character controller? I wonder ...

Lots of changes for tech , looking forward to next update. (no its not renderer) Hopefuly next week.
