People see "Persistence" in the name of the server and take the owner's word that it's true. I don't think the server admins are doing it on purpose, they probably just turn it off and on without giving thought to updating the name to reflect that fact. I haven' t found a crash site in ages but, I imagine that some sites show the crash while other sites may not. Would not surprise me at all if this were the true case on the persistent servers both regular and hardcore. I know what Eugen said but he may have just been misinformed.The last crash I found was a Russian Chopper up at NWAF and it was half buried in the Tarmac, if anything was inside of it then no one was getting at it.On another topic I am happy to report that like our ancestors, we can make a fire in the caves up north. Now I want the devs to allow us to make cave art by using a screwdriver and a small rock as a hammer stone. :P I could imagine primitive stick-art scenes of boars being chased by gangly, hunched people. And on the opposite panel would be hunters with their powerful fire sticks camping out on a hill. Interspersed between these vignettes would be isolated images of a cross in a circle (LRS), a payday mask (telling the story of dangerous encounters with bandits) and finally the giant roaring beast with glowing eyes (the v3s). ...and then the server would restart wiping the slate clean, ushering in a new age in the post-apocalyptic era. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I'll try to check tonight There are only 20 or so non persistent servers that I can find. I've temporarily given up looking for crashes as even though I found a crash in the middle of nowhere I still got sniped. My buddy got all freaked out last night cause he heard the laughing really close to him and was convinced a guy was watching and waiting to ambush. Turns out it was he himself who was laughing uncontrollably (about once every 5 minutes or so). BTW - no indication in messages that anything was wrong. Anyhow, the only thing he could think of that he did was drink from a pond... apparently he doesn't want to find out if human flesh tastes like chicken. What might have caused it? Unless there was a very sneaky and non-aggressive person nearby at all times it was my friend who was doing the laughing. He was in Gorka when it happened, never saw anyone else (there was only one other person in the map at the time) then found a truck there (finally!) and took off toward Polana. We met him north of Polana and heard the laughter moments after he came close to us (and the truck turned off - man that thing is loud!) So somehow he contracted it but we can't figure out how. He drank from a pond, killed a few zombies, but mostly ran around (looking for trucks) for the entire time on the server (about 30 minutes). A bug as explanation is always a possibility, but consider this as anecdotal evidence for those trying to piece together how it works. BTW - got to joy ride in the truck for 10 minutes before the server restart. So glad I carried that damn gas cannister up from around Cherno. Made it worth the effort. ...And to whomever died on the road near the gas station between Gorka and Polana and left a tricked out AKM with a 75 rnd mag (unfired) lying on the road: thank you very much! We have persistence off but I've never found one on my own. It was up in the field between Vybor and the Vybor Military Base. Found an AKM, 7.69mm ammo and a few other misc. items. No clips though :(. Still pretty cool to see it working and to find one. Also I found it odd that I kept finding the VS3 in Gorka. Yes I know its a spawn location, but I hung out a lot near there this weekend and just about every time after the server restarted, I went to the industrial area and there was the VS3 ready to drive. But regardless these towns seem to be more popular to find vehicles than others : kabanino , dubrovka , gorka , and I believe I've found one several times at both the severograd construction/mining operation (don't really know the name) and a couple times at krasnostav convienance ... Ah sorry man, its regular/3pp/1pp ..... for now :) I've been thinking about opening up a 2nd server in which it would definitely be hardcore / 1pp, but don't let that stop you from checking it out. I really try to run a good server with active admins and somebody on TS pretty much at all hours in case somebody needs to report something. Server restarts are every 4 hours so people can enjoy the new VS3's if they're lucky to find one :) Yes dubrovka is also a place i've been having luck finding the VS3's; good to know :thumbsup: :beans: Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I'm a lazy bitch , but what I really wanna know is when are the "substances" coming ? Alcohol , buds, and cigarettes would be great for just chilling around waiting for more features to come :) also I would love to be able smoke a virtual cigarette in the v3s while driving ... Not one. :( I think I had bad luck with server restarts and found myself needing to hop a few times when I lost connection. I'm running into "christmas loot" spawn a fair amount in remote locations. I found 3 barracks like buildings in the woods stocked with every civilian weapon, tons of backpacks, some magazines, food and random tools/melee weapons. I stuck with my repeater.
