Stable Branch - 0.50 Discussion

Recommended Posts

Personally speaking, I don't care if DayZ takes one year, two years, or even five years to finish. As long as I get to keep playing the game along the way, I'll be good. Even with all the bugs and glitches and unfinished features right now, it's hella fun to play, and it'll only get better with time.

And even if for some preposterous reason they stop developing the game today and we are stuck with .50 forever, I'll probably still keep playing.

I probably come across as a hopeless fanboy, but eh.

Could not for the life of me find a Mosin last night.

Usually I can find one with relative ease.

Went to Novo and in to the town hall/office place where I know I can usually find a Mosin. Made my way through each room, and each room was rammed full of loot.

Every room I went in had abut 6 weapons in it. One room had 3 double barrel shotguns sat on a coffee table. Found plenty of SKS, repeaters, pistols, Sporters etc etc, but not a single Mosin. I have everything I need though to gear up a Mosin, found 100 rounds of ammo for it, PU and LRS, Compensator, Bayonet, two cans of spray paint - the lot. But no Mosin...

If you need one go to the big cabins, police stations, tech buildings, broken down vehicles(it may be strange but I found 4 mosins and a couple more things), train carts, and tall construction buildings.

Despite having no luck in buildings, I did in fact find one on the back seat of a car luckily in Severograd. Then typically after trying to find one for 2 or 3 days they started spawning everywhere.

Like I've said before. Most people just simple forget that this is an alpha and not a complete game. Right now games coming out without glitches is unheard of and so I think people get confuse.

Personally I see this as a playable game that gets free cool updates all the time and has a few glitches that are ignorable and when a breaking glitch does happen it gets fixes quickly. TO be honest, the day the game is finish I will be very sad since it means no more cool new stuff.

Your attitude about the development process won't solve anything either. It's not your job to worry about how many people are participating in Early Access, and by all accounts people are not leaving in droves as you suggest. Either play it and enjoy it, or shut up and find something else to do. Whining doesn't help anyone, including yourself, so it's really rather pointless.

Hahaha. Someone have a bad day? My attitude? lol. Was it that i stated i'm very happy with 0,50 that is a wrong attitude or just that i expressed my concerns about something (with arguments) i think is worrying?

You know, everything is not just black or white. You can enjoy something, and still be concerned about it at the same time. You should remember that my friend.

So, I went to Berezino for the first time since the update.

It was all like

i5hBOMN.gif

Hahahaha, some things never change with that town. I stay well clear of it these days just for that reason. Sometimes I enjoy sitting up in the woods and listening to all the gunshots and watching from my binoculars. All i'm missing when I do that is a bag of popcorn to go along with the entertainment :P

There's a difference between being concerned and offering up unsolicited advice about how other people should do their jobs.

That's a very simple answer. "If you wanna leave, just leave". That attitude will not solve anything and soon the DayZ community are just 50K people instead of 1M.

The problem is not that people are impatient. The problem is that other game developers who started their development after DayZ is starting to get games that are more developed. People starting to notice that and soon most of them have left DayZ.

I also believe in good things coming to those who wait. And i also believe in DayZ, but they really need to get their game engine finish soon or standalone will loose their players for other games.

This community has no where to go but up unless the game implodes completely into WarZ.

YES, the problem is partly that people are impatient.

Other games being "further along" is not only your opinion but completely inaccurate in that DayZ was developed on a very different path than most games of this scale and is setting the standard for games of this type that are now following in it's footsteps.

If you are aware that the new renderer/engine is in the works than use that as consolation for the perceived lack of development and know that there is A LOT being done to develop this game that we do not see in the rolling changes.

I stand by my statement of, "if you don't like it, get out!", as listening to the same short sighted nonsense for years has made me apathetic to the whining.

Well we decided to turn persistence off instead of waiting one more day as we've had some server issues over the last 24 hours. Until persistence is developed more and we know items will stay longer than a few days we'll leave it off. I do feel persistence is on the right track here but just needs more time to be played with and tweaked by development.

Looking forward to playing around in experimental with it and looking forward to what development has to say for the next release.

Loot is so broken.. Devs please look into this ASAP... so far since the patch I have logged over 25 hours and countless military bases, I have found:

- ZERO AK101 magazines, 7-8 AK101s

- 30+ AKM magazines, ZERO AKMs

- 10+ AKM-74u / AKM-74s, ZERO magazines for both

The only weapons I'm finding magazines for and also finding the weapons are the Makarov.

It seems if the weapon is spawning, the magazines for them aren't spawning at all.. and vica versa.. if the magazine is spawning, then the weapon is not spawning AT ALL

Its so fun to see how people react when they see someone say something negative about "their" game. The way some people go into defcon 5 is so strange. Its almost like their child has been attacked

And it also fun to notice that the positive things i write is completely ignored. Its almost like its invisible. I bet my life (in dayz) that you did not recall any of the parts where i said i liked 0,50, and i looking forward to the next patches.

You know, nothing is perfect. Even DayZ. That dosn't mean its bad. But there is still freedom of speech here in Norway, and we are used to be allowed to also talk about the things we wish was different. Its must be so sad living in your country where it seems like everyone who talk about something negative is pushed out in the mud. I actually feel sorry for you.

Does anybody else overheat way too quickly? I can't seem to stay comfortable, I stripped down to my undies the other day and went for a swim for like 10 min and it never got off of saying "hot." It's also causing travel issues, it took The Riddler and myself almost 45 min to get from NW to Cherno because I had to stop and chill like 5 times, but he only overheated 1 time I believe. Does anybody know if it's perhaps a certain clothing combo?

I would love to see some "generic" servers running 1st Person in my region (Northeast US).

It looks like the Central US region and California have the most generic 1st Person servers.

I'm sure there are A LOT of people in my region who feel the same.

ok since this forum is always about the new players not UNDERSTANDING... why they click  I UNDERSTAND..

I am going to address something for all of u to read and take away some things to think about.

1... ITS ALPHA FFS.... seriously people talk as if the devs are all dumb as dog sh... and have no plan/future for the game...

2... ITS ALPHA...

3.. do your research on the development process of this game by using the 1 tool on the net I am certain u guys use daily... GOOGLE

the developers have released enough info and do constantly now to keep us all updated..

4.. don't talk about what's not being done...

5.. TALK ABOUT WHATS IN GAME.... HOW MANY OF U ACTUALLY TEST DAYZ... SUBMIT ISSUES!!!!

6.. persistence isn't broken... your just to ignorant.. test the game and figure out how the systems are working IN THIS BUILD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7.. weapons spawn... ak anything and clips.... even scopes are everywhere.. NOT BROKEN... they are spawning... open your eyes!

8.. pop capped servers of 50 players... when the server is either loading in several players at a time... or reaches its 50th player the server lags to the point it feels like a server reset.. I suggest avoiding these servers until a fix as there not very stable.. constant restarts at max pop and massive unforgiving lag spikes.

9.. the invisible zombies are real.

10.. to finish it off here I'll say this... I use these forums to help keep me updated about the current build and its development.... appreciate if u guys did the same.

OH FORGOT TO ADD SOME STUFF ABOUT THE WEATHER....

SUMMERTIME = DROUGHT = NO WELL WATER!!! NOT BUGGED...

CLOTHING... lol seeing guys cry about why they get so hot when they wear a bally, gloves and autumn gear makes me lol...

try some cargos, a tact shirt and a vest and leave it at that... YOUR TESTERS... test the game lol that's why u bought it..

UNDERSTAND..

If you're experiencing invisible zombies, or etc (Wells not functioning) Looks like some servers had issues with Steam CDN. Working on it.

Dry wells is a glitch.

I agree with the rest of your rant though.

Also, I'm told this build is set to September, which is cool temps in the CZ.

I'm all for the big maps, but is this getting too big?
Considering the max server population, you risk not meeting anyone, which kinda kills the suspense and having to be on the guard all the time.

I think it will be too small, tbh. When vehicles come in, and you have the luck to get one going, the boundaries of the map will be more than obvious.

Remember one of the long term goals is a server performance able to handle 75 - 100 players.

Everybody spawns around the coastal areas, and there is so much opportunity there for loot and excitement that many many of those spawns never leave sight of the ocean. If you saw spawn locations spread out all around the map, then you'd see people in more places.

Hopefully, that will happen soon. Because fifty or so players on a server that all spawn in the same areas...it's not good. The coast is absolute chaos, and you will run into lots and lots of new players and new player hunters with an intense frequency. And then you can go to cities like Zelenogorsk and Vybor and Pustoshka and not see a soul or any evidence there was anybody ever there.

When people KNOW where other players will be and where they are spawning, that takes away from the organic nature of the survival element of the game.

On a side note, has anyone found a heli crash site on a persistent server? If a dev could clear up if they are bugged or not that would be great, since I haven't seen one in ages

Summer time does not dry up wells, not where i'm from at least and certainly not ALL of them ;) I agree this is a glitch.

Also the getting hot issue is more than you (Renigade) describe. Just like Apollo stated above, I too have overheated and sitting in a pond completely unclothed did not start to rapidly cool me down. You'd think in September along with it raining, you'd be freezing sitting in a pond for more than a couple of minutes. However on the other hand while fully clothed in TTSKO gear while in the northern portion of the map, standing still I started to rapidly cool down . As I understand it, elevation does have a factor in how hot/cold you can become. Certainly expect to see tweaks to this fairly new system in the next updates to come.

Hoping for a hotfix to the wells and invisible zombies issue this week!

Has anyone encountered the character data corruption bug in this patch yet? The patch notes are a little ambiguous on everything fixed, and I don't want to start sinking time into the game just to lose my character constantly again.

^^^If I recall correctly some people (no more than other patches from what I can tell) are reporting constant character reset. I think I have seen a few threads and replies to threads where people are still experiencing this.

I just looted Staroye, it had bugged out and every loot spawn was PACKED with loot, like those screenshots people have been posting, In the police station I found 5 MP5Ks and loads of mags, loads of M1911s and P1s and mags for them and about 4 AK74s but not a single mag.
