"The Great Wipe - Stable 09-2014, post RIP messages here

An eulogy to my characters on the stable branch which met their

early demise during "the great wipe" in September 2014.

 

 

Most of my 550 hours in Dayz have been played on experimental but

both characters below have had about 150 hours invested in them.

 

They endured broken arms and legs and ruined gear by both bullets

and zombies and the occasional miss step from a cliff.

They have seen hunger and thirst, sometimes lost their way or got

stuck in buildings. They felt emotions like excitement, fear,

adrenalin, love, hate, remorse and indifference.

 

Many trousers and jackets got ripped to pieces and had to be

replaced. They met some friendlies and helped some freshies. They

were hunted but some also helped them. But they also killed a few

on sight and won a firefight or two.

 

The 3rd person character was created quite soon after I came into

the game and had lost some characters due to learning the game. He

was the one I explored the map with and tried out features of the

The 1st person character was my first and only so far on stable and

was created on April 3rd 2014 because player pacific_coast wanted a

new start in the game. I thought it would be nice to help him and

gain his gear in the process to make a start on 1^st person. I always kept his M4 and accessories

and some of his gear but of course used and lost some of it during

the months. With this character I took some more risks but always

tried to survive, which I did up until "the great wipe".

I wont be sad cause you will be able to gear your guys out fine its just all about adapting to survive. I know my way around the map pretty well now just by location landmarks. Same with riding my bike in real life. I dont remember street names but i can remember specific locations and streets that i go on.

Played last night with the specific intention of getting both my 3p and 1p characters killed and didn't even die once. I had an m4/acog full mil gear in 1p and an akm in 1p. Glad to see the back of the 1p character tbh was too well geared and it kind of put me off playing.

Your definitely going to have your work cut out for you. I have yet to find one on the experimental. Im sure they are around but maybe restricted to only police car crash sites maybe so who knows?

Well if it finally happens then everyone can stop worrying about it each Tuesday.  Now the real question will be did they actually do anything meaningful to stop duping or are only the honest players going to have to deal with re-gear up.

My favorite character so far. I started him January 24th, after it's previous iteration fell from the Rify shipwreck. Played between 80 and 100 hours with him. A few items changed here and there when they were implemented, but basically it's the closest I could get to a hero skin from the DayZ mod. (Which is actually just a player/npc skin from the ArmA2 PMC DLC.)

 

 

 

I searched for an M4 since it's probably my favorite rifle. At first I used the R.I.S. grip for the flashlight add-on, as I love to play at night.

 

 

After a while I started switching parts to get the Mag-pul, for less recoil and bullet spread.

 

 

 

And finally switched the black assault vest for a DPM camo one.

 

 

And it's been my regular stable branch character ever since.

People have characters older than a week? Wtf? My HC guy had just found an AKM, AK101, FNX45,a flashbang, two yellow boxes full of stuff and no big bulky backpack, just a smersh holding the nessecaries like toilet paper and so on, then I go to check my phone and a fucking zombie knocks him out and he never wakes up. So I respawn and gets killed by cowardly assholes three times.
