Rejoice brothers, for our loss was not in vain!!!

 

 

For many years weeks, we have fought a valiant fight against fascism the evil 5.56. Our countryman and fellow allies have suffered under the tyrannical and murderous reign of the AK-101, and it's evil betrayal of the lore, realism, and STRONK Russian weaponry. But today, the evil Reich has finally admitted defeat.

 

 

Our troops celebrate the glorious victory over the evil Axis powers, and our banners fly over the city of Prague. The Alliance of valiant and STRONK brother have fought a passionate fight, and it was not in vain after all.

 

Rejoice with your friends, your family. Parade the streets, and cry our call; "5.45 or bust!".

 

And now, I can rest in peace knowing that the CDF will finally be accurately represented in a game other than ArmA. And, on that, I end on a high note...

I think Cap'n is overjoyed because the devs announced they are working on 5.45x39mm ammo so the aks74u can use its proper cartridge along with some other lewts for future updates

No, but Gews pointed out earlier that the model is actually of an AK-74M that they made awhile ago and just repurposed into the AK101 so they didn't have to waste it. So yes, that actually would make the game's AK-101 a 5.45 weapon.

 

But it's mainly for the other weapons that it allows for in the future that people are excited about.

well increasing range of of ammo type should decrease the chance of you finding a load for the weapon that you hold, so (should) make scrounging a little harder.  You're effectively diluting the field.  But the ballistic properties of the weapons/ammunition seem to be arbitrary.

I think most people look to the release of new loads as an indication that certain weapons that use that type will appear later in development.  But it's mostly just looking at pig-entrails.

Even if your not interested in having the correct caliber it still effects game play in that if there are more types of ammo it thins out the direct ammo type for your weapon making it harder to find/accrue large amounts of it. This could lead to more trading amoung players (or more banditry to try and get ammo for weapons) ,so i would say it actually has a significant impact on gameplay via the loot tables.

 

Plus i prefer to load my gun with its real ammo lol...

I love little things in dayz, like corect caliber of weapon, or some item that I have in real life. I loved mod because I could drive Škoda, Hand Over, UAZ and GAZ Volga, and I had contact with or drove in them. My uncle had Škoda 120MB, when I was in army we used to drive in UAZ and Land Rover. We drove 150 km in back of URAL truck. When I was very small child I remember Volga being hudge luxurius car that only few comunist leaders could afore.

Adding 5.45 also has great gameplay implications as it could be used as the general military building spawn caliber while 5.56 can remain a helicopter only spawn atleast for the time being unless they decide to add 5.56 - .223 civilian rifles.

Also wonder if sometime later, we might get Vepr and AN-94 or any other truly 5.45 weapon.
