jubeidok 495 Posted August 13, 2014 Other than my own, I havn't heard gun shots in ages. Do you guys think this is due to audio issues or are people just not shooting as much anymore? Is ammo harder to find? With all those pics that people post of their tricked out guns you would think you would hear them being fired at least once in a while. Is there some unwritten rule I don't know about where you can only fire a gun off in The Bear? Come to think of it, I haven't even heard shots there in a long time. I was at the neaf crossing from the north and heard someone firing from the control tower at two guys around the sheds. My pal who was maybe 20m behind me didn't hear a thing though. Ya, sometimes I can go through a whole 2hr session without seeing a soul and sometimes I will run into 4 or 5 diffent people (that I usually watch from a distance). I don't mind that feeling though, you never know when you're going to cross paths with someone. I never tried playing on a full 100 player server so I don't know how much that changes the rate of encounters. Maybe it didn't increase player encounters at all when they tried so decided not to go any further or maybe they're are just waiting for the new engine drop before trying it again. Majority of the time I've shot at stuff with my friends around and vice versa we don't hear each others guns. Versus, you know, in the mod when you'd hear gunshots kilometers away. I hope that audio guy that they (devs) praised something like six months ago has done some work and they're going to implement it soon. Big L 33 Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) i noticed somehting i had never seen before, don't know if its new though. while strafing (only strafing, not pressing w) it makes no difference if you hit the sprint button or not.this is not new to me. i hate it, but okay... <_< i now realised that you can sprint while strafing when you aim down sight. wtf?this doesn't make any sense at all to me!!! if i can't do it with open hands, why can i only sprint sideways when i ADS?? :huh:is this new? I heard "you cannot do this irl, you cannot do that irl" so many times now. I disagree so often, I really have to wonder just how the bodies of ppl in this forum work... . Question: What is strafing for in shooters?Answer: Moving sideways while aiming ahead. irl test (I tested it (overweight) and I made my flatmate do it, too): I don't even care to test it without a "rifle":I took a 1.3 kg gastank for making soda (soda club for those who know it) as the buttstock in my right hand and a 3.5kg barbell in my weaker left hand for the rest of the rifle. Yep, laugh your asses off. Please also take into account that a rifle could be pressed into the shoulder, that makes three spots for stabilising it while I have the barbell without stabilisation from shoulder and right hand in my left hand. Holding a rifle steady would be easier. Simply turn your upper body to a wall and aim directly at the wall, now run sideways, your feet not clapping together but stepping over each other. Do that as fast as you can while always aiming directly at the wall and avoid getting closer to the wall. Now how can you do that? Well, you have a spine. The spine is flexible. Or should be.Repeat the same and "simulate" looking through sights by pulling your head down where sights would be and really keep your head down there. How fast are you? With my head up (Dayz raised rifle, not aiming) I can do about 4 meters a second. With my head down (aiming) about 3 meters. Reacting to a target in the direction you aim and getting off a shot "good enough for close quarters" would not take long at all, you would of course slow down then. I love how we now have a new sprint with raised rifle, but the left right movement is way too much, irl you automatically work against that side movement, it would exhaust your arms. But as the aim centers pretty fast when you stop sprinting, I'm ok with it, it's just an animation. Just try stuff irl before claiming it does not work. If you cannot achive about the same results as I did, you should worry about your health. But you probaby would get those results if you simply tried. And before you start about my setup not being realistic, we did stuff like that when I was in the army. No one had trouble with it either back then. I tried sprinting with a raised AKM left and right in game, I cannot. But the walk button works. When aiming down the the sights the walk button does nothing but sprinting works. I consider the sprint button not working with raised rifle a bug. And sprinting when looking down the sights is too slow. You should be able to do it faster and, take your finger off the sprint button, aim and shoot. I guess no one wants to use a walk button when looking down the sights, you are already soooo slow. Now why do I get all emotionally involved with this? We can sprint for ages, way too fast. No problem jumping over fences with a rifle on the back, another one in our hands, a full vest, a full jacket, full pants and a full mountain backpack. But as soon as gun handling is concerned, our character's limitations are sooo over the top and the reason is "realism/authenticity". And if you argue against it, ppl tell you to play CoD instead. It is quite simple, a character sooo limited in his physical abilities (not counting sprinting, jumping over fences, ...) would have been one of the first being eaten by zeds. I hate it, when character movement abilities are reduced beyond what is possible irl. It limits our options in engagements and is just frustrating to play when you have to watch just how inept your character is. Once again, maybe something we won't hear a peep about until the new engine drops first. On a side note, audio is often the last things to be finalized in a game, but we should at least be able to look forward to placeholder sounds....I hope.
