qww 287 Posted July 5, 2014 i have only ever enjoyed 1st person games myself, loads of people arent used to it tho and i imagine it would be quite weird or frustrating for someone trying to get into playing dayz in 1st person if they had always played it in 3rd previouslyprobably would take some determination to get used to it. rewarding tho.. check it out, curious regular headz! Irish. 4886 Posted July 5, 2014 It's here and now for myself and many others. Hardcore for Wolfing, easy mode on when playing with others. Both, on Experimental builds. This just sums it up perfectly.
Cherryx 5 Posted July 5, 2014 Started Regular, switched to Hardcore. I don't like 3rd person, so I never use it, which will simply give me a disadvantage against players using it. Simple solution: HC only :)
MarchHare 184 Posted July 5, 2014 I play both. And will continue to do so.
JokersWarPig 16 Posted July 5, 2014 I play both. I alternate between the two when one of my characters dies.
KingOfTime 267 Posted July 5, 2014 Hardcore. I like to have a level playing field.
Deathlove 2286 Posted July 5, 2014 I'm going to switch permanently to hardcore soon. 3rd person is for girls and wimps.Im no girl or wimp. I get tired of not being able to see my character. It all DEPENDS on what game styles your MORE used to playing. Ether FPS shooters or 3RD person survival and action games. Im more used to 3RD person games personally it has nothing to do with being a wimp or woman as you like to put it. Just a matter of preference.

You just want it the easy way that's all. Edited July 5, 2014 by General Zod
theirongiant 200 Posted July 5, 2014 Maybe in a game where zombies run/attack through walls some people like having a sense of what's happening in their characters proximity.
TheWizard14 372 Posted July 5, 2014 My first few months of DayZ, I played on softcore servers. But I quickly became sick and tired of the bullshit kills with people peeking with 3rd person over walls or buildings that you shouldn't be able to do in real life. I always died to some prick using 3rd person to wimpy kill me. After I got tired of it I moved to hardcore where I knew the standards in gun fights would be equal, no bullshit tactics. It makes the game much more playable and immersible. In hardcore you don't have the sense of safety of "oh I can just look over these corners" or something. In hardcore, you can't do that so you are constantly on your toes if you hear someone, and you make the best of your fighting abilities. I always hear the stupid excuse of "but you can admire your character on 3rd person servers!!!". No, that is a stupid panzee excuse to be a wimpy girl. If you can't see something in first person that you can in 3rd, it's a nonrealistic tactic and the game isn't meant to be played that way.
General Zod 1118 Posted July 5, 2014 Maybe in a game where zombies run/attack through walls some people like having a sense of what's happening in their characters proximity.Oh please, 3rd person gives you combat advantage, zeds are nowhere near dangerous enough. theirongiant 200 Posted July 5, 2014 Oh please, 3rd person gives you combat advantage, zeds are nowhere near dangerous enough. In a very specific constructed scenario that we hear endlessly about it confers an advantage but in regular day-to-day play it honestly hardly makes that much of a difference. Everyone is still on a level playing field overall, good players learn to adapt to their situations, you just learn to accept that you could be watched at any time, I fail to see how this is different in 1pp. Sure 1pp is a little more 'immersive' and a little more 'hardcore' and if that's your thing - have at it, i genuinely hope you have as much fun playing your way as I do playing mine. More than anything the thing putting me off playing hardcore is the attitude of some of it's proponents. I play games for fun, DayZ specifically for the interactions between players and the openness of the game, i don't really care about being hardcore or eeking out miniscule advantages in combat or dying or having a great k/d ratio or being leet. Uutgrunnen 96 Posted July 5, 2014 Switched to hardcore a couple of weeks ago and the immersion and intensity is great. However, when I sprint for a while in hardcore I tend to get a little nauseous. Don't think I'll go back to regular soon, the whole peeking around corners just isn't my style.
General Zod 1118 Posted July 5, 2014 (edited) @theirongiant74Fell free to not bother with your reasoning. Nothing you say will change my we on 3rd person. I just don't think it has a place in a survival game, and it's an easy mode. Edited July 5, 2014 by General Zod

I just don't think it has a place in a survival game, and it's an easy mode. That's the point, i'm not trying to change anyone's view, I'm just pointing out that people want to play the game their own way for their own reasons, why not just let people get on with it. These threads always pop up and it's always 1pp players complaining about 3pp players. Who cares, let people play the way they want to, why does the way some other guy play bother some people. It's utterly mental. Edited July 5, 2014 by theirongiant74
EvilTigerAce 131 Posted July 5, 2014 Hardcore for playing alone, regular for recording and playing with friends. I recorded a really short fight when I was playing hardcore though. DayZ melee....
The-MCV- 149 Posted July 5, 2014 (edited) I play both and see no difference. I played more on hardcore lately though, so I have this habbit of playing 1pp even on regular sometimes. Edited July 5, 2014 by DontGoToBalotaAlone
Element47 2480 Posted July 5, 2014 we play both kinds of music here, country AND western currently exp regular and exp hardcore. mostly hardcore when playing alone because i enjoy it more. but it depends with whom i play. as for the whole 1st vs 3rd clusterfuck: yes it is different. it allows to see more than in first person, which gives you more freedom of action - but this is true for all involved, so in combat encounters, you also have to account for your opponent "seeing more" too - this makes things not always easier. i see it more like a 'tactical' view, and it has its place in the whole of DayZ. and 3rd person view is definitely more fun to watch on a stream than 1st.
rickyriot 1009 Posted July 5, 2014 Why has someone used the term "Standard" while others are using "Natural" or "Regular". Neither of these terms are correct. The official terminology is "Hardcore" and "Lamecore". If we could stick with this terminology it would avoid future confusion...
