Sounds like you provided an excellent lesson in the need for a self-defensive mentality and better situational awareness.

Sounds to me that he taught another player to be a complete asshat. Congratulations to the OP, that's exactly what Dayz needs... another KOS-Kitty asshat. I'd give you my beans - but I already ate them so folk like you don't rob me of them.

I got punched to death by 2 guys in cowboy hats as they called me a pantless faggot. I asked for help cause I was beat up and robbed as soon as I spawned. I even said the story. You sir, are no different.

what are guns used for? mmh?

Hunting, defending yourself, and yes, preemptively gunning people down in cold blood.

I just don't understand, nor agree with the KOS playstyle. It just isn't fun. I don't find enjoyment in ruining other people's day. Sorry to offend the almighty KOS crowd.

You are 40 years old, and can't spell worth a damn. Congratulations.

On-topic: Some people might get, you know, just a tad frustrated, if they get killed on sight, especially in a game such as Day Z where you can put several hours into a character. Yes, "don't get attached to your gear" is a great philosophy, and most of the time death in Day Z is one's own fault,  but that doesn't remove the fact that getting killed on-sight might just be a little aggravating. No interaction, no communication, just a bullet/axe/fist....like what was described in the OP's post. To me, in my own honest opinion, KOS is something that could kill this game.

Not PvP: PvP is great! Just the utter pants-on-head assfuckery that is KOS. I sincerely hope that further updates brings activities that preclude KOS, and lead to some more teamwork.

I met a guy dressed like a cowboy in Electro.  I gave him a cowboy's death with my Magnum.

I shot a guy with my shotgun and he yelled "Seriously dude?"  I immediately bandaged him, morphined him, and we parted as friends.

I only shot him because I thought he combat logged after I killed his friend.  Turned out to be a nice guy.  We are Steam friends now.

I don't shoot unarmed people and rarely do I shoot anyone who talks to me if they have their gun put away.

Stockholm Syndrome?

"Anyone else feels that way?"

No, not really. I can be set off by some kid waving a crowbar at me, yelling "Get on the ground! Get on the ground!" Right after I spawn.

But somebody lamenting over the fact you just shot them while they were bent down drinking water? That's kind of dick-ish.

To be honest I'm not quite sure why you posted this. You could've been comfortable in anonymity. Or you could've said "it's just a game".

And it is just a game. You just happen to be playing George Zimmerman...

And since when is playing KoS, *not* a PVP play mode? In what game, ever, does a target get the chance to call out "friendly, dont shoot!" as an automatic saving throw against being shot? Explain to me WHY you deserve a "break", a "fair chance" if someone else gets the drop on you? Why should that other player have to announce his presence?

I think this game is too much for some of you people, I really do. I don't think you have the courage to play the game as it was intended. You want to be "nice", you don't want the ever-looming threat of violence over your head. You want every encounter to open on a mutually even playing field.

No. Just, no. That;s not what the game is, and will never be (except maybe in mods.)

And for the OP- good for you. I would have done the same thing without hesitation. Fuck him if he has no situational awareness.

Quite often I have people in my sights but I never kill them if they are minding their own business. I'm never in a position to be spotted, so unless they're real arseholes I leave them alone and take pleasure in the fact that I could end their current digital incarnation with a mouse click.

Guys, screaming "I'm friendly, I'm friendly" is a deathwish. When you come running at me screaming that you're friendly, you can be friendly laying down on the street with a bullet in your head.

Hmmm closest i came to this was the other day actually . I axed a guy coming into the pub in zelengorsk , It was done out of reflex as i had heard a zed and drew my axe waiting i didnt know the guy had agroed the sucker and ran into to get away from it....

Knocked him out in 1 hit ( he had next to no gear and was starving as it turned out...)

I dealt with the zed gave him a saline bag and waited for him to wake up... Said sorry for the misunderstanding gave him some food and showed him around zelengorsk( he admitted he had only played 6 hours and had gotten lost) showed him what buildings usually had what took him to the base on the outer edge got him armed and waved him good bye...

Hey maybe tomorrow he will shoot me out of fear of seeing me come into a room but it was a laugh helping him out i enjoyed our time more than had i pulled my gun and killed him ....

But hey each to there own...

Sorry to offend the almighty KOS crowd.

lol we're not even remotely offended by KoS haters. I actually find it hilarious people feel so passionate about getting killed in a game with ...... mmmmh .... guns?

Not PvP: PvP is great! Just the utter pants-on-head assfuckery that is KOS. I sincerely hope that further updates brings activities that preclude KOS, and lead to some more teamwork.

Your logic is so stupid. You say PvP is great then you say KoS is bad. Getting the drop on someone first is frowned upon during PvP? I laugh at this.

This so much! I am going to get a lot of heat but people who want to be "nice" and who are bothered by KoS are people who simply don't know how to play properly.

I get frustrated when I get killed on sight.  No one likes to die and it makes me feel stupid.  Doesn't matter what game.  At least in DayZ I don't spawn in the middle of firefights.

I will probably KoS at least one person.  Probably not someone in my sights running through town unless he deserves it, but don't surprise me!  In a real zombie apocalypse, if you turn around and find someone's been behind you watching you and they aren't a traumatized child, you should probably shoot them.

Because I would like to see PvP take more of a passive role, later on in the game. To me, PvP doesn't mean only "fuckmurder everyone because they are THERE", it could also mean competition for resources. You starve to death because somebody took all of the canned food, and you can't quite punch a cow to death. That is also PvP

"getting the drop on someone" is radically different than KOS. When you get the drop on someone, you don't have to kill them. I've gotten the drop on many people. I then let them know I can see them, and I have the advantage. If I see them doing something I don't like, they get a bullet to the chest. Boom, PvP, not KOS.

Banditry is also not KOS. I've been held up before. Handcuffed, headbagged, the whole nine yards. It was fun, even if there was a chance they would waste me afterwards, because there was some goddamned interaction going on, only with words, not bullets.

Yeah, well, apparently you are a server-hopping gobshite, so your opinion matters less to me than a fresh, steaming turd.
