So I played solely 1st Person Servers the whole day today and my thoughts are

Recommended Posts

It's good. Wish they had more servers though.

Pros

1. It's harder for people to spot you.

2.Feels nice though I wish I could see a little higher.

Cons

1. Not as many dedicated servers. The ones there gives me high ping.

2. Can't go fast when looting houses or you get dizzy[even with video settings tweaked, head bob, blur, etc]

I think I will stick to it just for the sole reason of it being harder on other people to spot you out. I was at the NWAF today and I could be more daring then in 3PP. Wish they had more servers though cause this ping and desync is killing me.

You get used to the indoor movement but I find I get hung up in doorways sometimes

The slower pace of playing in 1st person is actually something I really like about it. It makes that 20 seconds of adrenaline that much more intense.

Wish there would be some sort of ability to tiptoe a bit higher. Sort of like leaning around corners but for peeking up and down.

I prefer first-person while indoors anyway. When in third-person your character enters a room before the "camera", so it really makes sense to use first-person while clearing rooms IMO.

Yeah i am hoping incremental stances from arma 3 are brought to SA as that little bit of extra height you can get to look over on things and that little bit lower when crouch still has to much exposed.

Rocket please Please incremental stances from arma 3 is all i want for a late christmas gift ( well not thr only thing but i cant get greedy)

I reeeally like the tip toe kind of glance thing for just a bit higher height. That is an extremely fascinating idea.

He is dead on with the height adjustment, or maybe its just the buildings cause you feel like a child trying to look into some first story windows its a bit silly.

Yeah, they need to reposition the eyes a little higher. It would be crap to be hiding behind a wall and get domed because your proprioception is way off.

The stance adjust system is a definite must-have. The sitting position is great for seeing over grass but still keeping a low profile, and the raised-standing would be useful for firing from the top of a building. Not to mention getting the right angle to shoot out a window. That system would make first person much more engaging and tactical.

Couple things that would make it much better i think.

I'd really like to be able to control the amount of lean too, so i can just put my head out enough to see what i want to see, and slowly. Also, I'd be cool to be able to peak out of a window in a building, even lean out of big windows. Then an ability to see what you're wearing easier as the inventory screen does not represent what your clothing actually looks like very well. Finally, i think being able to rotate your weapon in your hands to see it better would be very nice. Looking at my weapon is one of the things thats nice about 3rd.

The arma engine does support that, but not with a keyboard as far as I know. You can use rudder pedals (used for driving games/heli sims) to do gradual leans, or you can set a TrackIR to follow your head as you lean.

This will happen in 3rd person aswell, due to your weapon hitting the side of the doorway, but it is a matter of getting used to :)

I also believe you forgot to mention the incredible increase of tension 1st person adds to the game, it feels much more "spooky and terrifying" then 3rd person.

Surely it takes away the arcadish feel you can get from 3rd.

The Arma series supports TrackIR, which can do exactly this for you :) (minus weapon rotation ofc)

I am not sure DayZ has support for it yet though, but would be surprised if they didnt implement it, as the engine supports it.

Actually I feel much more safe in 1st. I was able to do more without having people see me. I scout a ton as is but just knowing that people cant spot me if I stay still is really rewarding. Edited by CrazyandLazy

well done for try this   :)

you will see is complete different experience

there is less trolls less hackers less kos because is more difficult higher risk and more open mind players for interactions ;)

over time you will get used to new system and feel, trun head bob off if this affecting you

play with settings like FOV etc also if you having extra mouse button try to bind free look to this is making life easier for left hand

welcome to pure way for experience dayz through eyes of character :)

Would be good when crouching too to start letting off rounds over fences at your opponents. Also makes the cover system much more useful imo, and thats not even talking about the looting benefits.

There is tons of 1st person only servers (best are in my opinion DayZ DE and DayZ GB, just filter 3pp:off).

And yesterday there were unusual problems with lag and desync on all servers for some reason, I was mauled by lagged zombies 2 times.

Hi.

Maybe it was a euro thing, I had no problems at all on servers this side of the pond.

Regards.

Edit: whoops, on topic, Yes 1PP is definitely where its at(well unless your idea of immersion is looking at your characters ass), and like others have said, the adjustable stance system from ArmA 3 would make it even better.
