Great idea, multiple bike models, and advantages for each one is a must!

Here's my proposal for bicycles: slow the damn things down!

In November I tested the "old bike". Here were the average speeds:

Paved road 7.1 km = average of 52 km/h

Cross-country 5.3 km = average of 44 km/h

Forest undergrowth 1.0 km = average of 28 km/h

Wtf? Those first two are faster than the average speed of Tour De France riders. Even when offroad. And this is no Tour De France bike.

Come on now were not EVEN in the bicycle phases yet and you guys are freaking out lol.

 

Just everyone calm down and enjoy the walking. Besides bicycles for life yo! XD

 

Its going to be so low maintain and you will be able to go offroad just as fast as on it. Unless they do different types of bike and tires but thats going to be a whole other headache i hope they dont get into lol......

I have one in real life i need to get a tune up pretty soon on but its like my main transportation except for in the harshest of winter. That said bicycles SHOULD allow the player to maintain some kind of fitness lvl as they are healthy way to work out and travel too.

Iv only RECENTLY within the last few months been playing the mod but from what i can tell bicycles are like THE BEST for getting around places. There quite, offroad capable and very low repairing ever needed. Iv tried working with a car and man its just to much of a hassle. I just say stay light theres no reason to have to nab every single thing on the map for loot.

 

Sometimes simple is best untill you come across a tank that is. Than everything is just pretty much out the window.

Yep, you're exactly right. I learnt that the bicycle was the ideal vehicle for the reasons you stated, as well as its stealth factor - you can barely hear it. An excellent vehicle for a lone wolf, especially for sniping; if you miss your first shot, the bicycle allows you to re-locate quickly.

I want tanks but thats just me. They would be SUPER hard to repair in real life lol. Tank treads alone i hear are a pain to repair unless your near a tank base.

 

The mortor shells alone would be ubber rare if they ever did make one.

I was thinking it could provide a good PvP area. Get the fuel to the train, train can obviously only got backwards or forwards on set amount of fuel. Keeps the bandits from the cities like Berezino and Svetlojark. Coming from a bandit, that is.

I had many great experiences related to helicopters in the mod, but I think they always felt like one of those features that just were there because Arma 2 had it.

When I and my comrades became ´´experienced´´ the mod started revolving more and more around helicopters and high-grade stuff, and less about surviving in the harsh world.

 

I think the devs should step away from this kind of development, and instead focus on the thgs that fit DayZ, not Arma 2.

Like hunting. We haven't even got hunting yet.

Yeah i cant even fathom how hard it would be to get a REAL working train up and running. It would be extremely hard to maintain without a train depot.

You can make quick travel on bicycles in the mod i dare say they will cut it. Its just a matter of how they work when they pop up and whats required to get them working per say. Maybe we will be allowed to have a small storage space on the bicycle as well.

I'd personally love to get a train up and running.

 

Don't care if it's worth it or not, it may take me six straight hours but by god it would be amazing to drive one of these bad boys on the railway in 100mph in the middle of the night with headlights on.

That would be really nice to but again just as much to maintain as a car. More storage space though :O
