As to Punyness, I really would never want to get hit with a .22 in real life.

My objection would be down to its popularity in the "Eastern Bloc" where DAYZ is based.

Is the 22 common there or do they have their own Warsaw Pact Standard?

Russia is like the only place in the world you can get steel 22 casings. There is no doubt that they are there, the question is where are you going to find accurate information on the subject without having to go down there and make some shady friends.

From the looks of it gun policy in the czech republic is pretty lax and it appears weapons from all over the world are bought and used there.

 

Would make perfect sense for the ruger 1022 to be in game since it is by far the most popular .22 lr rifle in the world.

The game does not take place in the Czech Republic but a fictional country that has a strong history with Russia involved. it might even border Russia but that is not certain. The fictional country of Chernarus joined the Russian Empire. This is all from the Wikipedia about Chernarus. An excerpt "The population of Chernarus is a combination of Chernarussian and Russian peoples. Russian populations are mostly condensed in the Northeastern region of South Zagoria in towns such as Krasnostav. The two nationalities share tensions, especially on the topic of politics. In times of war, civilians have created insurgencies, most notably in the 2009 Chernarus conflict. Insurgent groups made attacks against ChDKZ and Russian military groups."

ARMA II and DayZ occur in the same place. The locations in Chernarus are based on a few places in Eastern Europe / Eurasia. Not just the Czech Republic. Why do you think they speak Russian in Chernarus? Because it has a strong Russian influence. We can possibly infer that this fictional country is near Russia thus why I mentioned the Russian/Chechnya information. Let us not get off topic. We can talk about it over PM if you wish.

I'd have to agree that a .22 would be amazing for the game, not only 10/22s though.  I prefer bolt .22s myself.  So 10/22 shuldnt be the only .22 available.

Its one area. Ive been there on my summer vacation. Okay, stuff like military bases etc are not there, and clearly the coast is actually a river but it is ONE place.

Same here I would prefer a bolt action 22 lr myself with a good edge on accuracy over the 10/22.

 

Not to say the 1022 is not accurate .

Agreed, it's accurate, I've shot quite a few.  I still prefer my grandpas old bolt 22 tube fed mag over any 10/22.

Don't take it that way. Plenty of skilled hunters have never so much as heard of MOA, but could put you down with .22lr out to 200m with open sights. Most of the world does just fine with Minute of Man rather than Minute of Angle.

If you're a hunter, .22 rounds are good for small game. Of course there are exceptions, but anything with a heavier coat will just piss it off or maim it inflicting needless pain.

 

I'm not a fan of rimshot firearms and most of the ammo is so cheap because the production standards are garbage. Police or military using these rounds are not buying them at your local Wallyworld. Like anything else, quality ammunition costs money.

Correct. That's still 200 yards (far). I highly doubt anyone posting here is dime size accurate at 200 yards with a Ruger 10/22..lol that's a 1f bullet drop and a semi auto 22...

Because it's literally the most dangerous round in the world and chosen by most hit-men for assassinations. The .22 has just enough velocity to pierce the skin and enter your body. After that initial break through is made the .22 is slowed to where it bounces around inside of you. Not just off bone but everywhere, even the inside of your flesh will deflect it back into more of your organs. There was an assassination back in the 70's where a man was shot in his right thigh, later the autopsy showed the round tore through his stomach, right kidney, and finally the lung.
