I'd imagine that he has the Q6600 which is overclockable, but I couldn't recommend doing so without a decent cooler, motherboard and power-supply and his spending a bit of time doing research.

The Q6600s (especially the early ones) have been known to get super hot when overclocked, if I remember correctly. I'd at least get a fairly cheap cooler like the Hyper 212 on there before attempting to overclock.

micah-lg 0 Posted January 8, 2016 Probably 1 Ugh, had to make a new account. Wouldn't let me sign in to my other one. ;-; But no, I actually got around 25-30 fps in Arma 2 itself, and (very very) surprisingly a solid 10-15 FPS in the DayZ mod. Even though this isn't playable it was cool seeing my potato run something way out of it's league. And the best part was is that the CPU usage was only around 50-70%. Rags! 1966 Posted January 18, 2016 Nobody can run DayZ smoothly. It's a pipe dream. It's not happening. Much like the horizon, it is a concept instead of a corporeal entity. A smooth DayZ is what we should all strive to achieve, though it will never be reached. It is the pursuit that is important, the struggle, the betterment of ourselves. Also, you didn't list your GPU. Many would consider that a pretty necessary component.

Thank you Low to medium settings- like most of us. I'm driving a GTX980 and don't expect to run everything on high unless I want to watch the game unfold on a flip chart when I run through cities. I suggest you take the time to AT LEAST figure out what graphics card you have (doesn't sound like you even know)... and then do a forum search for "graphic settings" to see some of the work dozens of people have already put into figuring out what settings works best. TOM11TD 1 Posted January 18, 2016 No. Your computer isnt up to the task. You need a new cpu and a proper graphics card.I've played since the beginning of the mod on this computer with frames around 25 fps. Has my hardware just gone out of date, or is the game just poorly optimized in its current alpha state?
Killawife 599 Posted January 19, 2016 Its poorly optimized as of yet. It will probably be better once the renderer is released but we dont know yet. Wait and see.
