Freeaze 2 Posted September 6, 2013 Hearing Rocket recently Alpha will be released when it's playable, two things stopping it being playable are implementation of the Bubble Bobble and working Zombies. Once these are ready lets get the Party startedIf I remember correctly, only the "bubbley bubbles" is stopping it from being released as alpha. But u're probably right, he also said that if the zombies aren't working at all, that will also postpone the release.
CapricornOne (DayZ) 379 Posted September 6, 2013 (edited) Hearing Rocket recently Alpha will be released when it's playable, two things stopping it being playable are implementation of the Bubble Bobble and working Zombies. Once these are ready lets get the Party started Zombies aren't delaying the alpha. He's said that countless times. He did say however, that should zombie performance not be optimised by the network bubble, then they're going to have to try something else. The zombies (animations/pathfinding) are not the reason. YZ250 248 Posted September 6, 2013 Ha ha ha yeah i could see it now releasing ( even Alpha) a game which is a Zombie Survival game with no working Zombies, but hey you can wear a Motorbike Helmet and walk into buildings, make a blood bag, scavenge for food and reload magazines. That should keep people entertained :D

That should keep people entertained :D Meh, I'd be perfectly content if it was just a "survival game", no zombies, nothing. Doesn't really bother me either way. It was the player interaction that drew me to the game in the first place and none of my best experiences in the game have involved zombies. If I wanted a zombie shooter I'd boot up Dead Rising or L4D. The zombies in the mod are barely working and yet the game has amassed quite the following... Says a lot really. Your view doesn't matter as that's the way the game is to be made  The sole point I was making is that even the in the mod the zombies are completely borked, yet it's received widespread recognition and acclaim. So your sarcasm about releasing the alpha as is, with the zombie redevelopment is unwarranted. Also, you were wrong btw, claiming that both zombies and network bubble were holding back the alpha release. Thought you'd be more humble after you got all up on Fraggle's arse for being "wrong" earlier

Tempus (DayZ) 1062 Posted September 7, 2013 ^^^^^^^^^^ YEAH! I dig this new devblog! Can't say my excitement hasn't cooled down a bit during the past months or that I'm not a little disappointed because of the long wait (though excessively pessimistic, fatalistic comments annoy me just as much as the uber-optimistic sunshine attitude), but this video really gets me in the mood for the standalone. To me, it seems to be the most "professional" (i.e. clear and organized) and informative one yet. A lot of new stuff to see and hear (for me at least) and the feel this build exudes really says DayZ to me, which can't be said for a lot of the previous videos.
fluxley 2228 Posted September 7, 2013 (edited) Will Back packs still be part of the game Backpacks have been shown in a few of the previous video's, though rocket did comment in one they they were still using the old arma models as place holders. i guess they haven't been shown recently because they are redoing them. Just remembered, this devblog from august shows one of the new backpack models, with straps! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4j0cPwIbwsM&feature=player_embedded#t=25 Edited September 7, 2013 by Fluxley

Wayze 549 Posted September 7, 2013 Q: Where is the incentive to surrendering? If I am going to lose my items anyway why wouldn't I just want to shoot it out.Because loot no longer spawns in magazines, but in very small quantities... ammo is now much rarer. If you've seen the road, you'll have a sense of what I'm aiming for. Projectile weapons will either be a dedicated bandit device (requiring careful "collection" and "harvesting" of ammo), or a weapon of last resort. I imagine melee will be the method of choice for dispatching zombies. In short, low quantities of ammo may drive players to threatening encounters rather than bullets flying. If you can rob someone and keep 1 out of your 3 bullets, I think you will rob that person and keep your bullet for next time. fluxley 2228 Posted September 7, 2013 (edited) This, ladies and gentleman, will change the game in such a way we have never expirienced before. Yup, its going to be a very different game. Noticed that there was two animations for the crawl, one slightly higher than the other, wonder if thats just the difference between normal crawl and a new double tap faster crawl or if its a separate stance that allows you to raise your head slightly even when not moving. The animations overall are looking a lot better, looks like they've added some small arm movements when moving that really improve the whole feel. mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted September 7, 2013 @Fluxley.Wasn't the stance-adjust thing mentioned before? They're not using the exact stances from ArmA, but they're using the same principles. IIRC it was at a Q+A session. Hopefully that High-crawl is our replacement for sitting on your arse to snipe.Would give poking your head over stuff a slightly less attention-grabbing animation. gesundheitk 420 Posted September 7, 2013 (edited) I wonder, is that how the inventory screen going to stay? Or is there going to be a art design team going to make it have its own 'style' of some sort. Frankly, the only thing I liked about WarZ was the art behind the design of the inventory and whatnot; wouldn't be surprised if they stole it though.
