I liked the new muzzle flashes.  TBH I preferred them to the new Arma 3 ones.

Arma 3's muzzle flashes were very close to that in day time also but the muzzle flashes looks like that only in the night time now because

I think i remember Dean saying that if they can't release the Alpha to the public before Gamescom he will have a big problem coming his way.

Probably in the form of a giant shitstorm heading his way.

And knowing the Gamescom will be end of this month we shall see what we might get.

---

But to stay on topic

The overall progress i think looks pretty good. Animations look realistic in a sense we are not playing soldiers this time.

For the Attachments, the big thing that bothered me was that they all had Bayonets on their guns but never used them.

But that's probably just because the animations for that aren't in yet. Which is no problem.

To make a comparisant to another Alpha Release i bought myself into.

Interstellar Marines. Man that game has lots of promise and potential.

but you before the last recent update you couldn't even slow walk.

You still can't Crouch yet and stuff like that.

So there is tons of stuff to do in DayZ when the Alpha comes out to other Alpha Releases.

It's up to Dean to do what is best for the development. He might just present the latest pre-alpha build at Gamescon so people could try it out. No worries really.

Any chance that you guys can release a image of the complete in game map? I would love to see the changes from a satellite point of view. Wouldn't have to be anything fancy just something like the map in the mod.

Here is another comparison someone made from E3 footage, bear in mind the map is constantly being updated though so it's safe to assume there have been other changes since then and will continue to be for many months.

So guys, what does everyone think of the weapon attachments? This was one of the big things Rocket was trying to show off i think.

Bayonet, scopes, handguards, buttstocks, flashlights and silencers all removable.  The M4 really does look awesome up close and personal.

One thing i am interested in, is finding a gun that is completely bare (ie: no attachments at all, not even a handguard or buttstock).  How will that fire?

1) Way too much muzzle flash ... just look up some youtube videos, you can barely see any muzzle flashes at daytime.

2) It doens't make that much sense to find a M4 without handguard or buttstock and it is also quite unlikely to find some spare handguards or buttstocks laying around.

Also how do you take advantage of those items in game? i know which rail-system or stock i prefere in real life .. but those items mostly are for a better handling or some other advantages which you can't really integrate in a computer game. that's why i don't see the point.

Also for changing some items you need tools and you can't just put any buttstock on a regular M4 ... there are so many details with modding your real life AR-15, maybe dayz should keep it a little bit more simple.

Quote from Devblog "And here is the short video. More to follow on the devblog over the weekend."

I didnt see anymore coming over the weekend.

Also the Vid has some sweet points. The Graphics do look nice so far in my opinion. But most of those Animations still look quite bad and the Zeds still behave stupid and out of control which is quite a bummer. Hope we will see improvements on this parts fast.

Because as of now this "Standalone" still looks like a mod with many bugs. Nothing which would encourage me to buy it.

I'd expect more of a standalone, features like Origins got them with more vehicles and modifications on those. Not only weapon mods. Which is nice but doesnt suite the whole "Im a normal person trying to survive" purpose. I do hope there will be more to do then just trying to stay alive or killing each other.

Hi, it's PRE-Alpha, so there is very little in the way of content at the moment. You would expect more of a stand alone which is still in development with no clue as to when it will be open to a public ALPHA, then later comes BETA and then eventually the full release. The content will come, in time.

It looks like garbage, even mod looks way better.

I'm actually kinda happy thay they didn't released it earlier because i would probably sink money in it, now i know i wont.

Will actually wait for some decent Arma 3 mods.

Peace and gl waiting for it another 3 months. ;)

you do realise its only be in dev for just under a year and they had to tear the whole thing down and start again. I think a realistic timeframe would be a year and a half for a properly working alpha.

Wait, do you mean that there is a chance the game wont be released in August?

Well that's pretty much a given considering it didn't pass the milestone review at the end of July and they only do them monthly.

indeed, what was the milestone they wanted to hit again that would have made the alpha ready for release? Or was it not mentioned in the vid?

Yeah I know how the gameindustry works and what pre-alpha, alpha and beta means.

I was just pointing out those things that don't work at all.

Though you are right I may have been expecting to much for an pre-alpha build.

AFAIK the alpha should come out when all the network issues are handled. At least thats what i remember to have read/heard somewhere.

Oh yeah i totally remember that part in the other videos where someone was on the ground on their knees with their hands behind their back. And those gun flashes. And the overhead shot of the different area near the shops..wait up remind me what town that was...? And that limping walking wounded player..nothing new at all. Maybe you are just thirsty, or tired.

edit- possible spelling nazis..

That's something new for you?

I'm not a bandit and have never shot an unarmed player, but if i see fools jumping around like WoW then i will feel perfectly justified in shooting them.

stamina system! stamina system! jump once high, the second time not so high etc...maybe stick it to an exponential function

Also some kind of momentum system. After the first jump allot of momentum would be lost until you build some up with more running. But running deplete stamina as well, as does jumping to begin with.
