Question...

Is everyone still cool with the "look" of SA? Meaning, the washed out blue-tint look that works for ARMA 3 and TOH?

I understand that they probably don't have weather working really, hence why every vid/screen we get is in the brightest day you ever did see. But I can't help but feeling the new "look" is profoundly un-atmospheric and doesn't really match Chernarus. Perhaps this will be tempered later by differing weather patterns, but things just don't look right to me.

It's not so much an issue of not looking "apocalyptic" or "horrific", it's more an issue of just not looking good altogether. Don't get me wrong, I love the sunny days in DayZ, but everything seems so much more lush and realistically depicted in terms of color with the mod currently.

I also don't think that I've ever seen SA with full settings on, so that can't really be helping.

But I'm just wondering, is it possible for them to change the atmosphere of the game dynamically? What was the logic behind the shift in palette? Is it dependent on the engine?

Don't know if it's been mentioned so here goes...

The opacity on the background of the inventory... Will this be adjustable?

I personally prefer it to be 100%, not at all see through. There are some situations where given the background, I can't see the items properly.

I think it's just that it is exceptionally sunny in the pics, it's always bloody raining when i play. It's the same for the DayZ arma 3 mod, the Greek sunlight just doesn't suit grey old Chernarus.

You're right that thinks look a little bit 'off', but we've not seen any of the weather effects. Cold damp days with fog could be very atmospheric. Thunder storms could bring the horror factor.

As of right now, I've only seen bright sunny days, with increased saturation on buildings and objects. While it looks out of place for a post apocalyptic game, if a zombie apocalypse did occur, the weather wouldn't drastically change - we would still have bright sunny days, as well as dismal, overcast days.

I would wait until the weather can be showcased publicly, so that we get a better feel of atmospherics.

Don't know about blue tint but one thing I noticed from videos is that the dynamic lighting is much improved over ARMA 2. The whole screen doesn't seem to go all dark even if just a little bit of sky is visible and it doesn't get ridiculously bright when you look at the ground.

I agree. On a side note, I would LOVE to see weather changes in the next video... now that you bring that up. I wonder if the weather program is complete?

I just hope they'll get the night more beautiful in time so that i won't be pushing the release back.

Im more hoping for good new mechanics more than looks...

But in that regard i trust rocket 100% .

Of course, I totally agree. We haven't seen anything and I suspect we won't for a while while they are focused on releasing a stable alpha and/or releasing new gameplay mechanics. It just seems to be a fundamental thing to me, vice something that'll be less noticeable whether it's sunny, raining, foggy, etc. Not sure what to make of that. That, and I like the fact that it's not always dreary. More realistic that way, it's just hard to envision other weather patterns currently for me.

Yes, this, very much this. I absolutely hate the dimming/brightening of the lighting in ARMA 2. Sure, your eyes adjust if you're looking toward the sun... but it doesn't make you ineffective... especially for hours on end.

Totally. But, I would caveat this by adding that things like weather directly affect gameplay. My concern is primarily whether it looks good, but it can also affect gameplay. But, you are correct, that my main concern here is aesthetic. Although, as a personal aside, I would submit that making things look good affects my overall enjoyment of the game. That's not to suggest that it should take priority over other things, but it shouldn't necessarily be at the bottom of the list.

If they could take Arma 3's lighting the night time would be perfect. Tested it yesterday in Chernarus with AllInArma and sweet jesus it looked so damn good. Full moon clear/cloudy and no moon were so perfect. With cloudy sky you still can recognize objects near you and it's still very dark but you really need to test it for yourself to see how dam perfect it is in Arma 3. it's so good that I go to play with night time again right now :D

This will be even more interesting. Will the internet handle this well? :)

EDIT: Two things I am really curious about: How will this handle copyright? Is a "seal of approval" required to broadcast which can be revoked should the radio station misbehave? Who moderates this? Also: will the broadcaster need to be in game to go live? That would be kind of interesting if the broadcaster had to role play their character while on air, and there being a chance to hear him/her be murdered live.

The radio broadcasters should have to submit their home addresses as well, in order to give everyone a realistic chance of murdering them while they're broadcasting from their homes.

Edit: I'd like to add that this radio thing is beginning to sound really cool. I hope it goes over well.

Something that I've thinking might come true. From Reddit:

The current plan is to create a special cluster of servers that's job is to manage loot spawns. Basically THEY tell the servers what to spawn, not a config. This means people can't make loot maps in the same way. I also means we can control the economy centrally, potentially making some items that spawn only once in the entire world

Something i've been wondering for a while is.. i see here that (not counting the backpack) the total inventory slots is 12 for the current gear, in the mod there is a total of 20 including bandage and sidearm ammo, is there a potential to have more or less slots with different clothing in comparison to the mod? will it be more common to have less and rare to get more or something like that?

You should ignore the amount of inventory slots shown in the pictures, Rocket has mentioned before that those things are still to be done, for example all the clothing currently has a default 6 slots, thats just temporary.
