Nobody is going to be disappointed. The ones who will - are the silly little kids who started to play dayz because it was a popular game. I started to play it in late July last year, when I first heard of it. I like ArmA and I thought it would be a nice mod to try and play with friends. And it was, until now. It is at this time I am disappointed by the mod (AND the modding community who develops it now). Don't get me wrong, without them the mod would be even worse, but what happens is that the modding community does things that I am sure Rocket would never do. The recent update fixed many bugs, but also changed many thing I wish it didn't (like helicrash spawns). I am very happy that Rocket will bring us the old experience. But for now, I went back to wasteland mostly...

i am somewhat scared from the SA. from time to time i read warz threads and there are a maaaaaaaaaanny guys which say they just wait for it to be released... the fear of the unknown i guess...

I still hope they do something about the lighting and color. It is way too dark an blueish ! Some people say it's just because of some clouds or the time, but in every video it looks the same.

Someone posted some screenshots how it should actually look ..

also the sun glare seems to be way too much, just like in the mod if we look at some old screenshots. Also the change of light / color in the current mod is just ridiculous. If you change your field of view the glare / lightning changes completely .. everything is colorfull if you look to the ground and if you look just a little bit more straight ahead / up it's getting darker. These changes are way too extrem and just unrealistic. especially as they also occur indoors ...

So please Dev-Team, do something about the colors / light / glare .... because in the game you experience these changes in lighting / glare very strongly but in realy life you don't even notice it that much. So it realy is just annoying.

Look how bright the desk and the lamp look / reflect the light:

They're just waiting for something decent to come along, nothing to worry about. We shall welcome them into the light with open arms and watch the marvel on their faces as it dawns on them that they have in fact been playing a potato for the last 6 months.

well back in the day we were lucky to find a potato to play with...well back in the day when my me and my father were just boys..

are the text things being added to save time on animations ? i read what you put rocket but it seems a bit like a ill add text so i dont need to animate that cough or sneeze which would be extra time.

eats beans text pops up you need shit :lol:

as for youtube celebs isnt this a mute point seeing as frankie is one of the poster boys for advertising dayz .

getting a stable public alpha release for april first is going to be pushing it rocket.

well imagine this as easiest way for even anything. you could even use this idea and create some sort of mini-games, without the massive effort of creating a real minigame with new anims, models, textures etc.

Of course it shouldn't be overdone, but i could imagine this as "mini-feedback-games" when it comes to repairing vehicles and diagnosis of illnesses and such to some degree. It would be a reasonable tradeoff between realism/authenticity and feasibility (;) i strategically place "subtle microskills" in here ;))

too me just adding text instead of the animation is easy way out of doing it.

i understand there is a time frame to get this out to us and plese dont say there isnt there is always a timeframe window for a project.

so myself i would rather use what the have now instead of just adding things half assed then work on the porper animation for the cough or dizziness then add at later date.

hey Dean one question when we talk about text "popping up", could you also think of objects to interact with? e.g. you walk up to a dead crooked tree and by focusing on the tree stump you get a message "i could knock this tree over" ->by doing so you would find a cache of "xxx"

Speaking of names popping up... will/can anything be done about the cumbersome "Door Opening" interface?

Half of the time, I'm right up on the mother effing door with a pack of zombies on my heels and it doesn't give me the option to open it... unless I'm like five feet away... or looking at the wall beside it.
