But on a more serious and hopefully constructive note, I won't be siding with either group - those who don't mind those cans and those who do. But I can see where either of them are coming from and understand their different points of view.

Let's face it - this whole debate in its core is about two different "sub-communities" resulting from two different ways of playing the game: one group wanting to have a more deep, realistic and immersive kind of gameplay and the other just trying to have fun and enjoying this sort of campy stuff (to simplify things and be blunt).

Whatever decision is made or compromise is found in this specific case, either way some players will be disappointed or upset by it. I actually like NonovUrbizniz' suggestion (http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/125793-the-notorious-can-incident/page__st__60#entry1207557): The only way to please everyone and to NOT let someone feel like "the mod is headed in the wrong direction" is to let everyone decide which way they want to experience this game by choosing which server to play on.

Compare it to the classic MMOs - and I know DayZ isn't one of them (neither do I want it to be), but just like server-architecture etc. this is one thing this game might positively learn from them. Specific "roleplaying" servers are very common amongst them and not only have a different policy, but also let players who want to immerse in the game's universe and lore gather and be safe from "normal" players who break their immersion by having peculiar names or texting and acting in accordance with the players behind them rather than the characters.

Of course, this sort of option does seem rather abundant just for some sorts of food and drinks... but it can be used for much more, like the weapons and vehicles available on the server, the effects of lighting, the zeds' behaviour etc. For the future, I do think the distinction between "normal" and "roleplay" (or "veteran", "hardcore" or whatever you might call them) servers might be a viable option for combining and simplifying existing server-specific options, like crosshairs, 3rd person view and, well, having the new cans and other things.

TL;DR: Include this sort of stuff in the server-specific options. Also, I do love them seals.

-New Dev does noble thing by implementing community driven easter eggs in the form of in-game food (Removing what could potential become corporate sponsorship?)

-Stampede of jealous and bitter Redditors spread mis-information and mob Reddit and forums screaming like children until they get their way claiming immersion when there are so many ridiculous

I just found the whole "singling a certain group" thing to be very over the top. We should be noted and commented on for our work and input, not what we like or enjoy, that shouldn't be brought into the equation at all and last night upset me alot.

I have read both sides of the story back to front and i still have not slept, i understand that some people were a little sensitive over my idea for canned muffins and i apologize for that, but i actually do really like muffins and i thought it would just add a little more colour, i mean sardines... we can do better!

In the end i would like this issue to be addressed properly and maturely and i support whatever outcome is chosen, we all put alot of time and work in for you guys and i know you all appreciate it, but please don't bring my likes and hobbies into arguments where it just isn't necessary to, i am only human like the rest of you and i do have emotions, lets respect each other as you as an individual would like to be respected because in the end we all share one common hobby.... DayZ.

OK -- I've read a few more post's, and I see people would prefer some-sort of commemorative symbol to all DayZ Community & Development Members. However, putting it in the Game would be the wrong step. Something along the lines of Invasion: 1944 would be a better alternative; Add the name's of those who've made it possible in a Splash Screen whilst you load the Game - It'll give far more attention to those whom really do deserve recognition without overly removing the sense of immersion felt in-game.

.Also: Why do you hate Reddit? Haha. I'm certainly no active member, but I do still find the annoyance and general hatred spread across DayZ toward's them is quite pathetic. DayZ Reddit section is the exact same as is here; People post their ideas, thought's and critiques with the difference being they've a more chance of having it seen at large, due to all Post's being on a single page(s) rather then scattered amongst varied sub-Forums. Nut-up.

Because that take HUNDREDS of hours.... the name text didn't show up in the inventory system they names ONLY show in game on the actual 3d food models... in order to "change the name" the designer who textured them needs to go back and re do EVERY texture with a completely new design... it's not like you can use PS text input to make a texture... its a flat image that gets wrapped around a 3d shape so when you draw them they don't look like what they will in game....

I will post a pic of what a texure file looks like later... but long story short is by NOT giving the artist input when he asked for suggested names they made him spend HUNDREDS of hours going in a direction they were willing to drop hands on after 2hrs of squawking from the loudest bunch of children on the internet.

Sahrani/Cifor Public hive will NOT EVER remove these items...

For the record the food will not be FORCED on server hosts either... if they want the food out they will be allowed to remove it easily...

U should not have removed these items because of them.

I for once think it was nice to see the new cans. And thought it was a nice gesture to devs and forum mods to name it after them.

U should really implement them back and i think i'm not alone with this statement.

THAT is EXACTLY what the food items were... MslyYsly or w'ever is Mello Yello, ALL of the canned food items were knock off's of actual canned goods they just had a moderator/contributer naming convention instead of straight word play or letter replacement...

Also IMO IF a brand is soo close minded they won't let you advertise for them for free you should not strain yourself trying to make it obvious WHO you are trying to advertise for free.
