No Pepsi, Coca-Cola or Heinz in standalone

Recommended Posts

I live in France, nobody knows what Heinz baked beans are. Mtn Dew, never heard of it.

I found a supermarket that stocks Beans, Branston, 30 k round trip, I bought the whole stock that was on the shelf.

That was two years ago, haven't seen any since.

Do they eat Heinz baked beanz all over the world, I doubt it.

Pepsi & Coke, now that's another story.

I'm pretty gutted about this but I kind of expected it. No big-name company wants to be associated with a violent game, unfortunately.

I don't get that. Dr Pepper wanted to be associated with Spiderman, and Toby Maguire's sh*t acting skills, but they won't get involved with an amazing game?!

With that the curse of Mountain Dew is lifted.

This will never happen! The evil curse of Mountain Dew'ness will prevail. Even if you try to rename the cans - inside it is filled with tasty Dew and deadly curse. Beware of it - you will never stay alive with Dew in your vicinity! We are all DOOMED! *runsScreamingAway*

I actually tried baked beans for the first time in my life because of DayZ.

I bought them mainly for the lulz but in the end they didn't taste bad. Guess which ones I bought? Yes Heinz.

Once the Standalone goes on a sales rampage and Rocket gets offers from other companies they will bite their asses for missing their chance.

This cannot happen!

It's time to call in the reinforcements guise.

We need some form of petition. Or email spam attack on the companies to get their attention on this pressing issue.

Isn't Halo a violent game?

Do you honestly want them to waste time and development funds just to keep a label that people view at most a few seconds in game? Especially with the creative talent in the community that can create creative commons works they could use?

Who's asking for money? Rocket already spent some time sending emails & phone calls. It's now up to us(the DayZ community) to get Heinz to notice DayZ rather than ignore it. Rocket & BIS don't have to do anything at this point.

I'm not against people being creative, but I would rather have the real logos. It takes very little time to write up a paragraph and send it on to Heinz asking for them to consider DayZ. Less time than it would take to design a logo. So why not give it a shot? It's something we as the community can do to help the game be better.

I don't care how good the user created logos are, it would still be better (in my opinion) to have the real ones.

Not really a big deal folks. You would have better luck asking those perhaps on deviantart to make some creative commons based designs that rocket could consider if he decides to go that route.

They would ask for money for Trademark use. Trust me they most likely don't care that they won't appear in DayZ. Also keep in mind that due to the game involving shooting other survivors and being a "bad guy" they likely wont accept in the first place due to potential controversy. Not to mention any prior exclusive deals they may have in place.

It's that type of negative attitude that kept games like DayZ from being made for so many years. If the people want something, the guys with the money will respond.

-Show me some games having to pay for a product placement, and no, using sports teams isn't the same thing.

-That picture above shows Doritos and Mountain dew sponsoring a game which includes plenty of killing.

-Exclusive deals? Heins beanz? Really? Did WarZ get some deal that I haven't heard about? LOL

Funny, Pepsi wrote back to me presuming my suggesting they work with the developers of DayZ, was a business proposal being submitted to them. Their response:

Dear Robert,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us at Pepsi-Cola. Unfortunately, we're unable to accept any proposals via email.

If you'd like to submit a formal business/sponsorship proposal, please mail it to:

Pepsi-Cola Company

Attn: Tricia Lynch

700 Anderson Hill Rd.

Purchase, NY 10577

Please include your name, address, and phone number along with your proposal. Ms. Lynch will follow up with you directly within four weeks if there is any interest.

Thank you for your interest in our company.

Dennis

Consumer Relations Associate Supervisor

I'll pass this on to Matt, but presumably he's already contacted this person.

I wanted to put up a big "who cares" banner about this but I do like Heinz and their beans in tomato sauce, though they taste better when in Europe than when I buy them in Canada, where the labels are all wrong anyway.

I'll admit, back in June when I was in Sweden and saw a shelf full of the proper blue label Heinz beans, I took a picture. Why? Okay I had played DayZ for about a month before my trip and despite the constant spawn killing at the hands of snipers, there was an attachment to the Mod this Dean Hall fellow had made. Games do influence us.

Coke and Pepsi, whatever, There have to be some local brands from Russian and Eastern European areas that could get a quick parody and be fun, and if Heinz does not respond, we'll live with it. I will still open a tin when having a proper Full English breakfast, wherever I am when I have it, but I have to admit, that what we see in games can stick with us. Of course, I am not chugging Mountain Dew and eating Doritos all day long because it was a sponsor of some Halo game, but I do notice the beans because it was in the game. Our immersion does impact us, and what we experience in the game, while we make friends and flee enemies and eat to keep our virtual presence alive, well, it remains long after a talking head spamming us about sponsorship that's not in a game would remain.

Long live the beans!
