  1. Haha, yeah, I know its set in the world of Arma. The DayZ map isn't Chernarus in it's entirety. It's actually the province (Oblast) of South Zagoria. I was just trying to make a bit of a joke. I don't understand why civilians have semi auto pistols and Mosin Nagants in their houses? why do they have so many weapons?! (i'm from Canada where gun laws are strict and very few people own them. Some players are from the UK where guns are practically non existent. lol) Well. The Red Cross kinda answered my question. This report talks heavily on the availability of weapons in wartime and the effect it has on the numbers of civilian casualties: https://www.icrc.org/en/doc/assets/files/other/icrc_002_0734_arms_availability.pdf "A major impetus driving arms sales to developing States has been the rapidly shrinking military budgets of northern industrialized countries. The lack of coherent policies for conversion of military production capacities to serve the civilian economy has meant that military industries with high production capabilities generated by the Cold War are competing intensively to develop new markets, particularly in the developing world." "Even the former Czechoslovakia, which made a political decision in the early 1990s to cease arms exports, subsequently chose to re-enter the business for economic and other reasons. In addition, large quantities of surplus weapons have been transferred from the northern hemisphere to developing countries in the form of direct aid, subsidized sales or intra-alliance transfers. Ironically, these surplus arms are the by-product not only of reduced military budgets and forces in the industrialized countries but also of successful arms control agreements that have required members of NATO and the former Warsaw Pact to eliminate hundreds of thousands of weapons from their inventories." "This flow of surplus arms is not likely to end soon – unless preventive action is taken without delay. In the coming five to ten years a new wave of surplus weapons and ammunition into developing countries can be expected to result from the need for funds in some States of the former Soviet Union and the modernization of arsenals in countries slated to join NATO or those aspiring to do so." With Chernarus being a highly industrial state they would have had plenty of means of forging their own weapons. And they most likely would have had stockpiles from the Cold War. not to mention the other factions (And presumably arms traders) were pumping equipment and guns into the country. Given that Chernarus has been in a state of disarray and its occupation is contested by 4 different militant groups there's a good chance many civilians wanted to get their hands on something that goes boom. They could've been obtained legally or illegally. And with this mass amount of guns, they would have been relatively cheap either way. A quote from the same atricle: "Because these weapons are mass manufactured for military, police and civilian use, there is an abundance of suppliers around the world. In addition, the existence of many tens of millions of such weapons, often recycled from conflict to conflict, has in many countries caused prices to drop well below the cost of manufacture. For example, a 1996 report indicated that in Mozambique and Angola an assault rifle could be purchased for less than $15 or for a bag of maize. In Uganda the price was reported to be the same as that of a chicken." So following that logic and with the state Chernarus was in, there are theoretically a realistic number of guns in civilian areas. Now the only issue is that it's not a wider array of them. If people were stealing, buying, selling and making weapons there would have been at least a few people that could get their hands on assault rifles and other military gear. As for the "militias" I was thinking of the National Party. (NAPA) Mainly because they were armed with more rudimentary equipment: https://dayz.gamepedia.com/National_Party "The National Party primarily consists of Chernarussian civilians who wear a combination of homemade camouflage with stolen military clothing. They often use masks to hide their faces to keep their underground network, they also use civilian vehicles mounted with military weapons and even use stolen armored vehicles from other factions." Maybe there isn't too many guns. Maybe there's just too many people using them wrong. But the next time I pick up a Mosin, I'll have to wonder where it came from and how far it's traveled to get where it is now. Maybe a Russian arms dealer bought some cheap surplus and drove it down to the border to sell to the other side. Who knows?

    Create AN ORIGINAL DAYZ SHORT

It is my proposal to construct a 12:32 short film. In Dayz, if you think about it, we have unlimited possibility's. It is my desire to create a short film. Using first person players as camera operators, recording at different angles for everything from close up dialogue shots, to scenery, to both sides of any gunfight, zombie POV etc... Catching all the juicy shots and downloading all of the feeds into a dump site which would be open and available to all that participate in the project. My idea for my short will be fairly structured. A diner, late at night, the boy, the old man and the outlaw are the only ones who make it out alive. They are trying to get back to the farm where the antagonists wife and young baby are home alone, that sort of thing. However with the footage given to everyone to splice and construct as they want there could develop a wonderful competition to make a better short, with your own story line. I had this idea after watching Moons stuff and other stories made around DAYZ environment. I for one would be happy to devote some hours of my day to volunteer as Cameraman #1 in the development of a new film. Would anyone else like to brainstorm on this idea with me? If you volunteer to work on my short, you get to write your own character backstory and if you are yourself a character ;) you get some dialogue, or write your own, or I will write you in a part. If you would like to be Cameraman #2 through Cameraman #whoknows????…….. Please feel free to respond to this post. I am a creative writer, screenwriter, and idea guy. I really need some great computer expert advise for the "dump site" for all juicy shots, available to every one idea. Thanks for all input. things I need : a dedicated server. at least 18 cameramen or camerawomen. 7 main characters. I will play old man. I need an OUtlaw, young boy, waitress Gladis, she gets torn to pieces in the first few minutes but I need a good screamer. Gas station attendant. We will need cars. the more vehicles the better. Can we get a working truck?

Content is #1 Priority, Not Persistence.

Both persistence and content should have been in game by now. We were supose to be geting new maps and vehicles and new base building objects. Chernarus is 10 years old, moders made new maps in few months. We still read about "PLANING" to fix game breaking bugs....

    Status Report - January 2019

This status report is just so unnecessary. What have we learned? You are working on fixing bugs, fixing more bugs, fixing even more bugs aaand planning the roadmap. Wasn't that crystal clear and obvious to like, hm, let's say everyone? Since this game exists you are fixing bugs. Please tell us something new, like for example, when will the roadmap be ready? Will we get more new content soon or 2 guns every two months? How is the work on new wildlife, new vehicles and new equipment going? What about vaulting? In case you really want to communicate more clearly with us, the community, you better do so in asking us what we want to know about the development of the game, not telling us about the bugs we already know about. The next report is your biggest chance to do so, if not, I think that many Day1 players will stop following and playing this game, me included.

    Status Report - January 2019

Pretty nice Status Report! I was especially happy to see that the first platform update comes in February, as I personally was even expecting it more around March. Now I still have to see what this update brings, but it is already great that it includes two new weapons. However, I do hope to see vaulting/climbing and fishing in it as well, since these features were already in development before the feature freeze. Hopefully this patch will see the solution to the persistence problem as well and with a noticeable increase in server performance. It is a pity that the roadmap is not finished yet, so I do hope/expect to see it at least next month. Nevertheless, I do hope to see some steady content and features coming this year! It would for example be pretty disappointing if we had to wait all the way till spring for vaulting/climbing and fishing, as these were supposed to be in 1.0. In one of the streams you mentioned that the current goals still will take till 2020 to be completed. This worried me a bit, as when looking at the features and content from the roadmap released back in November 2017, I would expect to see all that or at least 90% of it in this year. Thinking about the possibility that even at the end of this year we still won't have two-wheeled vehicles or planes annoys me.

    Status Report - January 2019

Dear DayZ Community, We are three weeks into our quite intensive development planning that will shape DayZ this year. It means sorting through, and selecting features, content, and timeline of their delivery - in practice a lot of meetings, whiteboard scribbles, and digging through our backlogs trying to identify what we're able to deliver this year, and when. In the meantime, normal development continues, and we have deployed a first bug fixing patch, with more bug fixing ahead of us of course, as we also have a backlog there to go through. The first quarter of this year is pretty much all about spring cleaning, and us getting on track to more scheduled Stable Platform Updates bringing new content and fixes. The first Platform Update is on its way to be released in February, and we will share more details once it's live on Experimental. We want to improve the game in many areas. We also hear you loud and clear and are aware of a vast amount of reported issues. They will get the attention they deserve when there's a right time for that, for now, let's look at some of the most critical and immediate ones. Top Community Issues Server Performance - server performance affects everything, from user actions taking too long, doors not opening, infected that stutter, to vehicle physics behaving in weird ways. Most of the gameplay can get affected when the server FPS dip below 20, and currently, that's happening on full or high population servers more often than acceptable. As such, this is our top priority to sort out. While the build out there right now has seen a noticeable FPS increase on low population servers, it still does not scale well enough when more players are active, and we are tracking possible causes of this server performance drop. Persistence - right now, we are preparing a safety net for persistence that will help the current shortcomings where entire areas get wiped when the server crashes during the writing process of the snapshot of the world state. In simpler terms, the persistence data does not save correctly because of a crash. The proposed solution is in testing and will land on Experimental once ready. When that happens, we will do our best to share useful information on the usage and functionality of the safety net solution. Server Browser - we know the new server browser still has its flaws, and performance issues which are getting in the way of the DayZ experience. We are looking into possible improvements on a more granular level; however, those might take time, so at first, we will dig into the issues that damage the experience the most. Once there is more information to share, we will provide an update. Animation issues - we are tracking multiple issues that break characters/weapons and more, and these require engine level fixes that are in discussion right now. Once the details get sorted out, and fixes are confirmed, we will talk about these in greater detail. The issues above are our primary areas of interest as of now, but the list of reported issues goes on, from bullet damage to medical items not serving any real purpose, or item placing being very limited, and more. While the list above does represent some of the reported issues (arguably the ones that break the gameplay experience the most), it does not mean we're not considering, or working on the rest. Modding We'll do justice to our company motto - Curiosity, Creativity, Community - by delivering significant modding improvements this year. Documentation, samples, and fixes that make new things possible are all in our pipeline. We will look at the topics of licenses and content usage, as well as making sure that with upcoming Platform Updates, we provide Experimental server branch to everybody so that both server owners and content creators can look at the game changes happening, and make necessary arrangements for their creations. We're already seeing lots of cool creations in the Steam Workshop (some prime examples in the video below!), and it'll be exciting to see what's possible in the future. Weapons We have a massive weapons backlog to go through, and you can expect that we will not only look into current issues with firearms (both visual and functional), damage and unconsciousness values but most importantly into that big stash of weapons that haven't been implemented yet. Our weapons strike team has already managed to make steps toward having two new firearms implemented in the upcoming February Platform Update. We will share more details when they're ready. Vehicles Vehicles have a lot more polish coming to them this year in terms of stability and functionality. As already mentioned, we know and understand that server performance has a huge impact on the experience, especially when player counts go beyond the recommended 60 players on community servers. Server optimisation plays a huge part in our early spring cleaning, so bear with us. While this is, of course, important, we can't forget that we should expand the variety of vehicular transport; this year will bring more options to players. Once again, we will share more details on the upcoming vehicles once we're sure we're ready to deliver. Consoles Recently, we've opened a round of Community Feedback targeted at our Xbox Survivors, and it proved to be a great source of useful information. Our console specialists in Bratislava are already looking into Xbox specific issues that were reported often and can be scheduled for a relatively easy fix, and there are of course the more complex issues like rendering and performance drops that are being investigated. DayZ launched with very decent frames in Xbox Game Preview, and we believe we can get rid of the current drops. It will take some time though. We also know that we still have a large sleeper community on PlayStation 4 patiently waiting for a release. While we are currently not able to dedicate more resources to advancing with another platform, we're taking small steps towards a PS4 release later this year. Communication With many internal changes in planning and how we approach update releases overall, we will also need to be rethinking how often and in what forms we're communicating with you. We still have a lot of brainstorming to do, but it's very likely that the frequency of development Status Reports will no longer follow the 2 week period. Instead, we'd like to think of ways how to more actively work with what's happening in the community, engage in the events organised by community server owners, and improve the direct communication across channels. Before the PC 1.0, we've made an attempt at Focused Feedback rounds with our game designers, and we'd like to get back to that idea when we know our developers can invest the time into carefully evaluating the feedback we receive on balancing, or specific game design topics. What we mentioned today is merely a fraction of things that are ahead of us this year; there's more to share down the road, but only when we're ready to talk about it. Once our internal roadmap is fleshed out, we will start our deep dive into how exactly DayZ will change this year. Until then, see you all in Chernarus! - Eugen Harton / Project Lead

    CARS STUCK UNDER TERRAIN

You can still repair some of these "sunken" vehicles if you already have a working vehicle. Simply take the working vehicle and drive it VERY SLOWLY toward the "sunken" vehicle until they touch. If the sunken vehicle is not too deep, it will pop out of the ground unharmed. If there's any loud bangs or pops, you might cause the gas tank to be leaking, this will depend on how deep the car is in the ground.

    CARS STUCK UNDER TERRAIN

Yes... pretty well documented problem with a few fixes available for private servers. There are quite a few threads on the subject but most basically state that vehicles that glitch into terrain, even if they are eventually accessorized are generally ruined either because of the gas tank glitch or the almost inevitable SpaceX launch candidate application.

    CARS STUCK UNDER TERRAIN

Been wondering the map and have found about 4 cars. 3 of which my friend and I pointlessly shot at because they are under the frickin' world mostly. (issue with clipping vehicles) 1.finds car spawn 2.sees vehicle 80-90% under the map 3. gets frustrated and no longer wants to play 3a. keeps playing and full-auto shoots vehicle roof.

Bohemia Devs, Firstly I thank you for your consistent progression of the game, even throughout the 1.0 PC launch. As for improvements, there are only minor gameplay issues that come to mind. Most, if not all, have been mentioned to date. However, I do suggest the prioritsation of implementing private servers throughout Xbox regions. Critical gameplay features such as base building, loot persistence, vehicle transport have become plagued by players who will simply switch public servers to obtain items, or to purposefully spawn inside a base. I have joined some DayZ xbox "communities" and this became apparent very quickly, and evidentally lead to players leaving DayZ for good. Personally, I feel this removes any survival element to the game due to the lack of necessity for development within a server, be it fortification of a location or the need for vehicles to legitimately venture the map for loot. Thanks

Possible to move server to another box?

In the root direction (where is addons keys ...) go into "mpmissions" "dayzOffline.ChernarusPlus" and copy the folder "storage1" there is the database (bases player gear vehicles everything ...) and in the root direction there is also the "serverDZ.cfg" in this is your server name password for admin login and some other configuration copy this on your pc go to your new host start the server one time so it creates everything if its online just shut it down copy the shit on the new server (what you got from the old one) and start it again Greetz G0ndalf
  14. Zeus mode, for those of you who don’t know, is basically two parties facing off (It's not necessarily 2 parties, it can be just one team) in an environment controlled by one person. The person in control could spawn vehicles, animals, weapons, zombies and whatever else you can probably think of. I would love a Zeus mode in DayZ (obviously on private servers). One could play as the director in L4D, keeping a band of survivors on their toes, sending zombie hordes their way, triggering random events (heli crash anyone ?) and weather changes. Also spawning or despawning loot based on the team's performance. As an admin (zeus) you could write some stories (notes or diary) to lead person to somewhere/something. For example, in one house, Zeus could spawn two dead bodies and next to them would be note that would say that this dead couple saved some tresuary for better times all the way up north or something like this. Something like this: Is this doable? Any great coder intresting in doing this mod?

    DayZ 1.0 Vehicle tips

I would just mention I have probably put over 500 miles on a couple vehicles over the last few weeks and when the server isn't lagging I find them QUITE enjoyable! The driving/shifting mechanics keep it interesting and the map design/scenery in this game is great!

Xbox Feedback Round - January 2019

I love the game & stream it everyday, the last update fixed a lot of issues & I love the rebalancing of weapon spawns . My mains issues are not being able to micromanage items in inventory upwards but having to scroll down past the bottom of inventory back to the top in order to more an item from one containers to another directly above it. Very time consuming , also if a clothing container is minimised using left thumbstick push in inventory it often bugs the inventory and stops the ability to scroll last the item directly below the minimised clothing container or weapon, not a huge issue but one that would be a bug QOL change as many people would find a smoother less laggy inventory with increased fps very helpful & currently this functionality isn't even in the community consciousness due to it's bugged out nature. It'd help out all those loot goblins . Also currently the assigning of freelook to right thumbstick push is a little lacklustre , I understand the difficulty with the limitations of the controller but for elite controller users like myself I've found the advantage to having freelook assigned elsewhere is substantial over regular controller users, my game awareness has increased dramatically with assigning to LB instead after reassigning LB/RB to underside paddles. But as stated it's a tricky problem finding an easier designation for this function. Also occasionally pulling LT to raise a melee weapon after sprinting will result in me not raising hands but instead doing a strange standing slide, can be annoying when trying to sprint at an infected as often causes a few seconds where your open to attack as the release and repush of LT is needed. I know you guys are aware of the stun lock issue with melee but that's pretty obnoxious , the staggering animation and animation length needs looking at IMO & being staggered by bullets especially seems unnecessary , once a gun fight or melee fight is initiated, especially in a game like DayZ with high damage across all weapons it's seems that a more balanced skill based system would be to allow a reacting player to have the chance to react to aggression and potentially win the fight if there skill level is higher of there opponent , currently being locked into stun and then taking multiple more hits just because somebody else initiated combat & them automatically winning doesn't seem very balanced or skill based. Also infected stood close to a wall seem to only be hit by half of the melee attacks. The chances of a pistol jamming even when repaired to work condition is still rather high, the amounts of times that I've just cleaned a pistol only to fire one round and it jam on me is incredible, they jam atleast ten times more than any other weapon & it's exceptionally frustrating. I love the jamming mechanic but it's may need reducing slightly. Also can we have the ability to finalise buildable base items like wall etc or the ability to minimise them so that they don't cause lag or overlap with barrels and other Walls vehicles inventory in vicinity inventory? The ability to minimise them and it save said minimisation akin to how clothing containers in inventory are meant to be, scrolling past four walls worth of inventory to find a barrels inventory is extremely laggy, often crashes the game as I'm sure your aware of, odviously placing items a sensible distance away from each other is an odvious fix ATM ingame but this is a definite issue that will increase QOL if dealt with. lastly I'd like to say I've put about 33days Into the console edition and love playing it, each update brings new items & mechanics aswell as bug fixes etc, so iam in no means ranting. I've already had my money's worth, just wanting to help from an experienced players POV. Thanks Bohemia and good day.
  20. Add: • New guns (sks) and attachments (suppressors) • More vehicles (trucks) • Holding breathe (taking longer range shots right now is a chore) • First person Servers ————— Fix: •Cars flipping out (literally) • Make it harder to brake into someone’s base • Fix having guns and bases/ things you drop disappear (very annoying having your hole base disappear) • Swapping mags with a full inventory • Duping (makes it unfair for legit players) • Servers in general -Nathan C.

Barrels seem to keep getting stuck in the open position. After this happens, the game constantly crashes when interacting with them. 9mm is very hard to find, making the mp5 kind of useless after running out of the ammo you have. Adding 9mm to infected drops would help tremendously. Can't slide down ladders. Inventory sizes for clothes have rendered the high cap vest at Tisy useless. BDU's carry too much.... more focus should be on backpacks. Backpacks used to be something special to find in Dayz, now I don't even pick one up because there is one around every corner. More loot being added to the game will change it completely. Military loot should be very hard to get.. ak's/m4's and suppressors are easy to be found and looted. Civilian guns need to be a bigger part of the game to make it feel like Dayz. I know you are working on this, however, unconsciousness and broken legs are sooooo essential to Dayz. These 2 features are probably the biggest thing that make Dayz stand out from other games. Please at least implement unconsciousness from head shots.. this allows us to tie people up or handcuff them and talk. Cars are too rare and should be in every city. In an interview with developers not long ago, we were told that cars are essential to Dayz and that there should be multiple cars in every city, all missing parts, but semi-easily found and utilized. What we have now is a watered down version of that idea; I understand that the stability of servers probably limits the number of vehicles that can operate at the same time, however, something needs to be improved on the vehicle spawns. Cars are not rare in reality, and even if they were, there would be some type of transportation. I can't stress enough how much this needs to be balanced, it is essential to this game. Server hopping on Xbox is a big problem. I have seen multiple survivors mentioning to you that there is no loot spawning in mil bases and such. I truly believe that it is the result of server hoppers. The other night I waited at Starry tents in the red barn watching to see how many server hoppers came and left. After 20 minutes, I had already seen 4 groups of players spawn in, loot, go into the containers or woods and log out. I finally got tired of it and delivered some justice to the 5th group, who spawned in next to me in the red barn. They are literally sucking up all the loot like a vacuum and stuffing it in tents. I also found a base with 14 tents full of loot the other night..this has to be stressing the servers. I think private/community servers are the way to go if it is possible. I would gladly pay to host a pw protected server so that this couldn't happen, and I'm sure there are others that would be willing to do the same. Please consider dealing with this ASAP.. it could become a huge problem for this game. Lastly, I have found 13 helicopter crash sites so far and not a single SVD. I think I have the worst luck ever. Other than all that, the game is turning out to be a lot better than I ever expected. I know you guys are working your asses off because it shows in the game. Communication could be better sometimes but I think you guys know that and it seems like your tackling that problem head on; cheers. 2019 - The year of Dayz.

Well I think first add more vehicles they’re way to little of them. Add more content from the old mod such as night vision googles and red dot sights. Also there should be zombie heards in large city’s. it’s to easy to run around in this game. Also add bikes and boats as well and helicopters. Also add fishing as well would be nice also maybe stop wiping out bases as well. So far this has been pretty good so far minor glitches and stuff nothing to crazy

Xbox Feedback Round - January 2019

First, I’ve been playing since the first year of the mod and understand this is a totally different game, BUT. A few things: Private servers. Xbox players are just as close to each other as PC, and are more than happy to pay for private server slots. We want them, badly. Inventory and it’s stability: the inventory system is perfectly fine on PC. Well designed even, but on console it does not work, especially when clicking across different containers. A cursor/click system might work here. UI responsiveness: the user interface is not responsive enough. This plus server lag can easily be the end of a character when in a firefight and trying to navigate to a bandage. Even quick slots are unreliable and require the player to make a full stop and pause to switch. Yes, the Y button works, but my point is the overall UI could be streamlined to work quickly and that is what matters in this game. The mod was ugly. At least my friends and I didn’t care and liked how it just worked. Server stability: I don’t know how much this has to do with the game because I don’t experience it on PC, but the servers constantly cause the game to pause (experienced at the same time by my squad on other sides of the IRL country and in game map.) and many times even give us ‘no message recieved’ and kick us off. Weapons/Vehicles: moar pls. Even if they’re just cold ported from the mod. (Jk but more pls) I make it sound so easy, I know. But this is what my group of friends and I have come up with so far to be most important. This is is an amazing game. Please don’t give up on it and the community.

-FPS issues -Item duplication -Combat logging (Perhaps one designated character per server, or you can't server hop for instance just make it so you can't change servers for 24 hours) or even private servers -Bases disappearing -Character customization -Steady Aim/ Leaning affects -Scopes sometimes don't render properly leading to have a solid color (No Reticule) -Curing any illness (Not curable) -Vehicles cause deaths -Make it to where you can swap weapons between hands -Fix emotes (I can't access any of them at all)
