    Since this thread seems to have been sufficiently derailed already, might I take this opportunity to address your recurring disdain for people who simply wish to play vanilla DayZ on an official server? Just knock it the krunk off already! If I was interested in subscribing to a game that cost me as much as my cable internet service, I would have gone looking for one. Number one reason I never wanted to play WOW: I did not want another monthly bill. Number two reason: I thought the premise was silly, and I'm not into that kind of grind. I know I might have a minor case of 1pp-itis, but your constant jabs about people not mattering if they don't rent a server is elitist and complete bullshit; so give it a rest already. I'll be on the public 1pp servers. If you have a problem with that, or anything else I've said, come find me there. In the meantime, stop insinuating that people who don't rent servers are the lowest caste of DayZ. If you were as important a part of the DayZ playerbase, as you exude, I would expect you to be doing some bug reporting; or at the very least, playing the hotfix so we can get vehicles fixed before everything shuts down for the holidays.

    New UI allows you to interact with all parts of vehicles without using tools. Once you get over the "newness" of it, you will find it very useful. You can also loot an entire building from the ground floor, either a bug, or a consideration for our safety, as stairs and ladders have, again, been resulting in senseless deaths. When driving a vehicle, any small error, or possibly spikes of lag or desync can result in damaged wheels, or wheels being sunk slightly into the map. Rotating and repairing the tires will likely fix this immediately; a process that takes only seconds using the new UI.

    Drove the Lada fake-jeep-thing yesterday, and couldn't get above 3rd gear. Does it have a 4th/5th? Then I wrapped it round a tree and ruined the engine parts. Ah well, fun while it lasted. The driving controls and physics need some work, for sure. Plus there seem to be bugs associated with carrying passengers: character displayed standing next to vehicle when in 3rd person view (even when the vehicle's moving!), but sitting inside the car on 1st person; can't use "co-driver" seat if there is a driver in there already. Oh, and the engine sounds are really crap! Given that this was my first DayZ session for several months, I was very impressed by the game's progress overall though. Looking forward to when vehicles are working a bit better and more reliably.

    Physics of the cars get "lost" when the tires are A) not all pristine , B ) one or more of the tires is in the ground (or appears to be) , or C) the csr has been bumped too many times and now has lost its physics until you get it off of the hill it's sliding down , or until you replAce all tires with pristine tires .... The vehicles are incredibly fragile under certain circumstances , be careful !

    People are typically kinda jerks, they likely tossed your stuff on the ground and loaded the barrels in the vehicles. Or maybe it was a bug. In my own experience, persistence has been working fine on the server I play.

    Yeah a good chunk of my play sessions with my group any more are getting vehicles unstuck. I personally find it a fun challenge, but they are definitely a mess. One of my friends (who was arguably our best driver) refuses to even drive this patch because of how wonky the mechanics are. It is nice to have goals though, but I do agree it will probably get old even for me pretty quick.

    Yes the vehicles in general need a power upgrade IMO (expect for the offroad) , the bus can't even make it up small paved hills under certain circumstances (small hills with large turns in them, the bus always loses power when trying to turn EVEN WHEN PROPERLY DOWNSHIFTING TO LOWER GEARS). This is something that's fixed by the same experimental bunch , I'm usually glad to help with exp branch but honestly im so frustrated by these vehicles so I am sitting this one out til the fix is up for stable .. Me and my crew have gotten so many vehicles running only to get stuck on small things , invisible things, wheels stuck in the road , not being able to climb small paved hills with twists in the road (even in low gears , and when you're barreling towards a hill at a high gear and downshift when necessary its really just a 50/50 chance if your bus will make it depending on the length and turns in the hill ) . So regardless of them actually being able to drive right now , they truly are more frustration for the average crew just wanting to play - and not trouble shoot the entire play session ...

    So i run a server and i keep getting this error cuz im editing the files and i finally got vehicles to spawn after a while and now i keep getting this error. I got my server through gamingdeluxe.co.uk and how do i disable this ghosting? I saw somewhere it said to edit in the init.sqf file but i cant find that file CLOSE LEGIT JUST FOUND IT

    Vehicles moving very slow

    Hi! Me and my friends have, since 0.59, found three different vehicles. - Bus - V3S Truck - Offroad Hatchback All of these vehicle seems to be moving very very slow. We've tried so many things but they all can't even make it up a semi-steep angle (Imagine the fields west of the power plant in Elektro). What we've tried - Removing all the wheels and then putting them back on. - Made sure that all wheels, spark/glow plug and the battery is pristine. - Made sure there's fuel in the vehicle. - Made sure we're not trying to speed up on either reverse, neutural, second, third etc. Is there anyone else that knows, or had and fixed, this issue? Thanks in advance.

    V3S problems 0.59

    V3s doesn't beed glow plug in this current stable (bug) , the only Tires that can be made into doubles is single bus tires I think .. The vehicles are manual transmission now , so in other words you start the truck up and you are in neutral , press Q to downshift to reverse , press E to up shift to any higher gear . The games physics (and manual transmission mechanic IMO) are both in their infancy for these vehicles as many times the tires will get stuck in the earth or the cars will touch something lightly and lose all physics and the power of the vehicles right now is just pathetic .. Be careful with the vehicles they are literally as fragile as glass at the moment , but you can drive them you have to just drive them in very limited places (mostly flat ground areas) unless you Want to trouble shoot around every hill with curves in it , as the torque is not really a good representation of an actual manual transmission truck , far too little power (and traction for some vehicles) at the moment but that's something that definitely will be fixed .. Oh and most vehicles (v3s in specific) can really only go like 50 mph while at top gear because of this exact power issue I just mentioned , most people are in disbelief but I drove the v3s for a long time before this manual transmission patch and it could easily go to 80-90 mph .

    So been playing, 0.59 stable recently and was putting together a V3S, battery, glow plug, all wheels but I can't get the V3S to move. 2 things might be the problem the back double tires seem flat, infact are damaged on the UI. Also the glow plug doesn't really go in the V3S it just always goes in the cargo space not where the battery is on the UI, tried various things with old and new ui and no joy. So questions are: 1) Do I need to make the double wheel into singles to repair them? 2) What tool do you use to spilt / make double wheels? 3) How do I fit the glow plug into the V3S 4) Are there any other problems that cause the vehicles to not move at the moment. p.s. this V3S is at its spawn location and has not been crashed prior to this. Any help is greatly appreciated :D

    Sabotage Bicycles

    I'm sure it has been suggested to be able to cut brake lines of vehicles or to pour diesel in to regular gas tanks snd vice versa to destroy motors right? But with bicycles on their way, wouldn't it be fun to be able to run around with a screwdriver or adjustable wrench and go around removing seats off all the bicycles you find? Or loosen all the spokes so the rim collapses as they ride down the road? Or remove the brake pads? All these things can be accomplished with an adjustable wrench. Sure, you could just bash the hell out of the bike and render it useless but i think it would be far more enjoyable to undo the steering column nut and twist the handlebars to the side and watch the poor sucker try to ride off with it all cocked to the side... and then shoot him, naturally. I think that would be super fantastic myself :)

    I came into the game back in January of this year. Despite the bugs, I have the impression of constant progress; slow as it may be at times. These new vehicles and their many problems make me somewhat nostalgic for the days when V3S behavior was hilariously buggy. I can't even count the times that I had warned people not to approach a truck from behind, lest they spook it and get kicked in the head. That time a couple of trees snatched up my truck upon entering it, and suspended it there like a hammock; or the time I saw a friend hit a guardrail and get sent up into the stratoshpere; I would gladly participate in this alpha for another year if that is what it takes. The schedule seems to be a bit optimistic, but I like optimism. It's nice to know that our efforts are appreciated; especially when bug reports will sometimes sit for a week before being assigned.

    I started this topic only to disscus visual apearence of new vehicles. I knew that handling will be bugged for maybe even next two updates. Still, there are different opinions on vehicle performance all over the forum. Im looking forward to new cars, Im hoping for at least 3 or 4 new models before release (pick-up, blue van from Arma2, maybe Lada sedan or "old hatchback" also from Arma2)

    Just got off my first bus, it's been great! First impressions: 1) The manual is clearly bugged, the number of gears it can go up or down is changing, sometimes a gear is changed for you, so often you don't even know on what gear you are (unless the game just didn't register my gear changes properly due to desync or what not; but the sound was there). 2) The Icarus can't make it even past medium hills, I was unable to go from Cherno to Nadezhdino or from Elektro to Staroye no matter what (although maybe that's the fault of the tyres, I don't know). 3) Tyres removed with that lug wrench sometimes disappear. 4) 62km/h seemed like top speed for my bus, although yet again maybe it was the tyres. Acceleration sucks like Helldogz says with Niva. 5) I got my bus in Novoselky; apart from that, I had no luck finding any kind of vehicle (I logged back only to drive so I hopped Svetlo like 10 times to find Niva, to no avail). Does it still hold true that people just stash their vehicles to use them as containers? Is the spawn location of cars set for servers like it was in 0.58?

    'Tent Car' + questions on persistence.

    I would not advise parking a car inside a car tent at the moment. Upon server restart, the front of all vehicles align to the North. I'm sure that you can see how having a car parked in one that was not placed perfectly to accommodate that would be a big problem for the continued use of said car and even possibly the ability to continue to access the items contained within the tent itself.

    You've inspired me sir. At the next available opportunity I have, I am going to switch to the Mosin as a primary and run with it for a few weeks or until my untimely death. After the Mosin was reconfigured and the new hunting rifles and scope were added in, I think I mentally began to think of the Mosin as some sort of step backwards. The fact of the matter is, however, that the Mosin is very accurate, fires the most lethal round in the game (unless the SP6 has now usurped that title?), and you can't run more than 500 meters through spawn points without tripping over one. It also looks pretty sweet in my eyes and has a satisfying firing sound. I've decided lately to try to reevaluate my gearing up strategy in an effort to ease some of the psychological pain of being the Kenny (Southpark) of the 1pp hive. I seem to die 2 or 3 times a week on Stable from the most insane bullshit with only 2-10 other players on the server even though I can somehow survive weeks on Experimental with packed servers. I want to figure out how to be effective with 5 or 6 hotbar slots, mostly civilian spawn loot, and relatively common items. In this way, re-kitting is simple and quick, and I could perhaps find my odds of surviving going up as the game's economy changes or as Hicks fiddles with the knobs on the CLE. Anyway, forgive my digression please. Well done and I look forward to more of these. I have to ask, any plans on doing these for the vehicles once they get all the bugs worked out?

    'Tent Car' + questions on persistence.

    Vehicles are persistent regardless. That tent is to store your vehicle, but considering the size of it and how obvious it is, I personally am not sure there's too much point. Perhaps when proper base building is a thing or if they add some sort of camo abilities it will become more useful. As far as I know, tents are reliably persistent. Everything that is meant to be persistent seems to be in my experience. Some one said the time is now reduced to 7 days from 45, and that you can refresh things through the menu. I haven't verified if that's the actual case myself.

    How to make oven/cook with new UI?

    You consider the cooking mechanics "deep and well-developed"? What the hell kind of game are you playing? We can cook in two fashions: baking and boiling. That's ..... that's it. And, we can only cook single items. No combining items to make actual, you know, meals. No combining items to make stews, no making of broth using animal bones. Hell, we still can't fucking cook rice, nor mix powdered milk with some water. And, according to the "nutritional information" available on the wiki, cooked vegetables are literally in every way deficient compared to raw ones. Boiling food actually gives you less water than baking it. That .... isn't how it works in real life. Cooking in Day Z, alongside literally every game mechanic that doesn't involve new guns or vehicles, has essentially been ignored for the last couple months. We can put food into a pot with some water/lard, now!!!! Woop de fucking do.
