We will take action against users who post hate speech, illegal/pornographic material, or the like but culling through people with an unpopular opinion, even if objectively wrong (e.g. posts about how Rocket is misleading) has to be tempered with the idea that it can be very easy to promote a hive-mind mentality that censors the other side.

We need to be the police officers on the forum, not the police state.

You have a bunch of bored teenagers during the summer who would rather complain about not getting their game before school starts than actually going outside and enjoying the already half-over summer.

Time to wake up people, it doesn't get any easier as you get older, when you don't get mandatory 3 month breaks. Stop bitching, and go be doing something productive/entertaining while you wait.

Yeah, definitely.

Lol, did you read the first one properly?  He said moderators need to moderate not censor.  Anyhoo, his track record for well over a year speaks for itself I don't need to defend him.

It get's a lot of stick.  I enjoyed reading through some threads, if you sift through it they have some eccellent posters but I just really can't get on with the format, probably because I'm too used to here.  Following a thread on there that splinters off into several different conversations just does my head in.  Then there's the whole downvoting thing, that just smacks of a popularity contest.  It's fun when your post gets up-voted, not so much fun when you say something constructive and it gets buried with downvotes because it goes against the grain.

Hold on a second.....when have you made a constructive post

My technical advice is second to none.

maybe lets see

So everytime I try to start up DayZ through Play withSIX is says,

"Addon 'dayz_anim' requires Addon 'CAMisc_fix' "

Then it allows me to start the game and join the sever, but right after that is when this happens,

"Files "C:\Users\****\Desktop\ARMA2\BohemiaInteractive\addons\a10.pbo" (then lists every single addon location) are not signed by a key accepted in this server. To play on this server, remove listed files or install additional accepted keys."

I have done everything to attempt to fix this, I've tried reinstalling the game, redownloading the game from my amazon account, I've tried updating everything 3x, but nothing seems to work. Any sort of idea what might be wrong?

Overheating?

erm nope

I first installed Day Z when it was in beta ages ago and it worked with Arma Ii and Arma II: Operation Arrowhead installed. But now it seems you have to have Arma II: Combined Op's installed to get the game working.

I just installed Play withSIX and i have Arma II and Arma II: Operation Arrowhead installed and it wont seem to work. I have updated everything i can find to 1.7.7 and whenever i try joining a server it says

"The following path seems to be invalid: Game Path Value: Please Configure In The Game Settings."

PLEASE HELP

Thanks Ethhen

No point in following when there is next to nothing with updates

Yeh, that's a good point.  Most people visit forums like this for news, when there is none for a period things dry up a bit.  It's happened before and then all of a sudden there's a flurry of activity when the devs become active and start updating us.

Become active? I sure hope they are active now :P

They are lol, very actually.  Just not in public domain for now  :P .  I personally prefer it like that but I know most don't.  If I'd have had my way, the moment they announced the SA they should have gone off the radar with maybe a once a month update on progress and respond to questions for a few hours then shut the door again, it'd lead to a lot less mis-information and less distractions for them.  Oh well.

Having been a MOD in another gaming forum as well as a GM, I can see your point. I guess you really are not looking forward until Beta release and then the upcoming patch days either. You are going to find yourself very busy on the forums, better start warming up that ban hammer. :)

Every time I read Rockets tweets he is talking about some game he got off the steam sale. I know he isn't the only person working on this but it does sound kinda discouraging when the production lead is worrying more about what game he is going to play till payday 2 comes out then getting the game he is being payed to make off the ground.

Rocket should start realizing that refusing to give at least some info because of fear of reactions from places such as reddit and twitter is probably not the smartest of ideas. Reddit and twitter should not be considered as a important feedback place. Too much retards that are too loud. He could get good feedback by simply allowing more people to play the closed alpha (or start ignoring the trolls, which he still doesn't do).

And his statement about focusing his time on game development and not writing a dev blog or some twitter comment.. wtf? So spending 15min writing a little text that would please a good chunk of the community is suddenly the end of time and will delay the game by weeks? No.. it will delay the game by 15 minutes. And as I stated above he could simply ignore the comments coming from trolls or ignorant people. A badly written statement from rocket might cause some people to lose interest but if the final product will be good that won't matter.

I'm with you man, Rocket decided he loved Reddit and Twitter and ignores this Forum, now he complains that he cops shit while he is on there. WELL Rocket post here it's one of the reasons a Forum exists. I dont like Reddit or Twitter as you can probably tell.

Also who was the person that chose who Beta tests and do they still have a Job ? How many of them then gave it to friends, created a torrent etc ? I could go and download a Beta Build right now......but I wont. I'm not jealous of not being selected as I'm shocking at beta testing, but clearly they picked many wrong people for the job

I disagree.  The Reddit DayZ community seems quite mature and constructive.  All those complaints are very very petty.

Who fucking cares if Rocket does update his twitter on a regular basis.  Good Lord there is always something to complain about isn't there!!!

Personally I find it quite encouraging to have a lead dev that's passionate about gaming in general.  He's a gamer so likes to discuss and play other games at times.  It's precisely because he's a passionate gamer that a game like DayZ is being made, he's talked a lot in the past about other games that have inspired some of the ideas for DayZ.

Agree, this is the way i see it too,

So what if he spends an hour or two playing a game to relax that doesn't mean he isn't taking dayz's development seriously, I'm pretty sure they are all putting in more than enough hours over at the dayz dev team right now.

I appreciate Rocket's love of video games and really hope he takes time after hours to get his gaming fix. He shouldn't be  working  20hrs a day on Dayz to satisfy those who probably don't work at all and are sick of CoDing 18hrs a day in their mom's basements.

How many Gaming companies are staffed by people that don't play the game they make, or any other games for that matter? probably the majority.

Count ourselves lucky. For once, the motto is actual truth, "For Gamers, by Gamers".

Some of you should turn the selfish down a little, its getting loud.
