Irish. 4886 Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) So these past few days have been strange indeed.. First, Im one of 2 on a server at the NWAF. Ive been away from dayz for a while so lately Ive been jumping on low pops to try to get back in the swing of things. So Im in this super duper low pop.. lol, and low and behold I bump into the other guy. Now its the NWAF so I dont think its strange at all. I follow him around for a bit and eventually he does an about-face and runs right into me.. it scares me so I shoot him. Feel bad for a minute, but then I move on. Later that day, Im at the tent city in Myshkino. There are 3 or 4 people on the server. I had lost connection earlier on the server, so I stopped to do some real life stuff and when I logged back in I was about 20m next to the officer barracks. I start to run towards it, and to my surprise some guy exits right in front of me.. I hightailed it around the side, and hid near the truck crash just on the right of it. My heart is pounding, and I remember why I liked dayz to begin with. Im having fun now, finally. But then I see him, he decided to hunt me down I guess or something. He never said anything, and he turned and pointed his rifle at me so I shot him with my sks. I start to just leave his body there, and bolt to cover knowing he probably has a friend nearby when I notice he has an Aug rifle on him. So I am quickly filled with greed and start looting his body. I get done, and head towards some tents. Ive now forgotten about any friends of his and feel generally alone. And then I see him.. his buddy. He is aiming at me, but with this almost tangible look of, "wtf?" on his face. So I take cover. He runs inside a tent. I flank all the way around and shoot him with the Aug. I feel like Rambo. But again, its Myshkino so I dont feel like things are too weird.. even though thats two low pop contacts in a few hours. The next day, I log into yet another server (I know Im a server whore, hate me). There is just 2 of us on. I spawn in berezino as a freshie. I loot for about 10 mins, and then it happens... I bump into the only other guy on the server again! We exchanged friendly contact. He tells me over sidechat he is new to the game, and I offer to help him out. We part ways amicably and I realize.. I am some sort of genetic mutant capable of attracting other players like a human magnet. Anyone else have this "gift"? :P Edited September 13, 2015 by lrish
☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted September 14, 2015 I run into players maybe twice as often as my friend in as many hours and he has many more KoS experiences than I recently as well. I don't know exactly why this is but it's a sort of running joke between us at this point.
Dagwood 680 Posted September 14, 2015 You were server hopping high priority loot locations on low pop servers. You'll run into people doing the same. Welcome back.

BeaverProductions 441 Posted September 14, 2015 You were server hopping high priority loot locations on low pop servers. You'll run into people doing the same. Welcome back.Yup. Dont know how many times the only other player on the server has bumped into me in military areas. As a counterpoint, me and a friend were hanging around the NWAF tents on a 50/50, for around 1.5 hours yesterday, and not a single person was spotted. People will often stay away from high loot areas on busy servers.
stinkenheim 249 Posted September 14, 2015 Having a finite amount of items is kinda stupid when people can log out with them so if all of them are on people that are offline there would be nothing for the people who come after them. This could be countered by having bodies stay on the server when offline like Rust. Or, like, I don't know, having the items respawn when they fall below a certain number. Kind of like a game that I play at the moment called DayZ... Just because someone picked up an M4 (for example) doesn't mean that that M4 will never respawn on a server. It will, it just takes time. That's why server hopping is so prevalent, people would rather jump to a low/zero pop server until they find what they want than actually wait for it to respawn.Unless characters are bound to a server having them remain in game when you aren't logged in is beyond a terrible idea as the servers will just be filled with the immovable bodies of people who have logged out in random places. The game can't cope with large amounts of loot and zombies let alone having to remember everyone's position/gear when they aren't online.

I think they need to add more cooking ingredients into the game. Now Bananas are back I want to be able to make a banana fritter or banana split.

AdamantiuM 8 Posted September 14, 2015 I remember once like 8+ months ago, I was heli hunting on foot in a 2 man server, and I came across a heli just north of Green Mountain... looted it for a few min, and as I was running away through the field, the one other guy on the server runs by toward the heli, and didn't see me behind a tree. I let him get up to the heli and popped one in the back of his dome :) I also killed the one other guy on the server another time in the Novo clocktower when we were both freshies with shotguns lmao And there have been others as well, so no, you're not the only human magnet. Grimey Rick 3417 Posted September 14, 2015 (edited) Wait — you ran into someone at NWAF, tent city, and Berezino?! Yeah, that's unbeLIEVable. EDIT: for epicness Edited September 14, 2015 by Grimey Rick
Jex 1104 Posted September 14, 2015 It happens to me too. I can be the only other person on the server and I run passed him. My mate too. Trying to meet up he was leaving Electro and crossing along those walk-boards over the marsh when he sees the only other player on the server (except me) running on the boards towards him. They just run passed each other..... So after that I was talking to him and I asked him why he didn't stop and say hi. He said "I don't know!" Oddly, both of them just ran on by each other whereas at any other time you'd be wary of being attacked. DayZ is a weird game. Loot spawns just to troll you and people show up in places you'd never expect.
Irish. 4886 Posted September 14, 2015 Yesterday I wanted to see how many "encounters" I could have a full pop server.. I was as foolish as possible, running around in my underwear with a lit flare, etc. I was killed roughly 6 times in less than 10 minutes. :D
Mullraugh 1151 Posted September 14, 2015 I've been quite the opposite actually. I join these full 50 man servers, spawn in Cherno and head west all the way up through Zelenogorsk, the tent city, Green Mountain and all that area and I haven't even seen a single person yet. I tried it in .57 when everybody was on the coast and the only place where I found people was Elektro police station or guard houses. Now when people are around the map it probably is even harder to find people.

Girls get loads more shit than guys do and there was a recent study that was interesting. They found that in a game such a COD, the players who did worse in a round would often pick on any girls that were also playing but, they also found that the bottom players were nice to the top players, treating them like they were royalty. This indicates a rather pathetic trait unfortunately. Find a decent group of players and gaming becomes a lot more fun when you can talk to each other. I couldn't imagine playing DayZ without TeamSpeak :)
Weyland Yutani (DayZ) 1159 Posted September 15, 2015 I am some sort of genetic mutant capable of attracting other players like a human magnet. Anyone else have this "gift"? Not really imo. NWAF, Myshkino, and Berezino are very well traveled places. I know you mentioned the identification of NWAF and Myshkino being commonly traveled spots, but Berezino is pretty popular. Now if you would report that you were in out of the way places like Stary Yar, Berezhki, Sinistok, Tisy, Kamenka type zones...I would say that was a bit strange indeed.
