BCBasher 2465 Posted July 15, 2015 I didn't have any gear or wasn't at the place I was last at since the DDoS attacks on the servers. A hour ago it was said to be fixed and my friends got their gear but I did not. Does anyone know if I'm just out of luck or if there is a way I can fix this. SMoss 2101 Posted July 15, 2015 So here's one of those messages that you don't really want to hear: unfortunately, some of the resets occuring as a result of the recent ddos attacks are indeed permanent, and we won't be able to reinstate previous character data for these. However, seeing as we're still in development, the team is also in the process of developing counter measures as well as fail-safes so that even if similar attacks occur after full release, they will not interfere with character data. It is very unfortunate to have been hit by these attacks, and even more so to have been hit before counter measures were in place, but as with so many other parts of DayZ, this has been and is still a work in progress as well. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

It would also be nice if there was an "official" means of communicating news and announcements, such as these "official" forums. Reddit posts, tweets from a few Dev's are nice and fun, but for official notifications there should really only be one place we have to go to for news and information. A simple, "hey, theres an issue with the central hive, probably DDOS related, we do not suggest you play until we announce a fix and there is stability" would have been nice instead of having to refresh Eugen's (Thanks for the updates) Twitter account. Just Caused 423 Posted July 15, 2015 So, how do we get our characters wiped now? Does everyone get it ( even people who haven't played during DDOS attack )? When will wipe begin? eno 1049 Posted July 15, 2015 I'll be really patient if I can log in and have my guy back ;) Turns out I will be really patient since I logged back in last night to see what I was going to have to deal with and my old guy was back in action! When I logged in earlier today to check I noticed very high server ping times and a lot of rubber banding, which I hadn't noticed at all prior to the DDOS incident, which I'm assuming started on Monday based on the behavior that I saw? Luftpancake 94 Posted July 27, 2015 If I, and everyone in our community, am to be believed, it appears that anytime you log into a public hive server, your character is not preserved. That is presuming you can get into a server, they are acting pretty flaky when you try to log in at all. Is there any notices or something I missed. I guess I am just wondering how long it will go one before some sort of announcement or mention of it. Or perhaps I am going crazy.
