I'm digging up drum mags for AKMs out or wrecked UAZs in the middle of Cherno on high pop and loading the rounds into SKS rifles I find there. I love the new loot system. It isn't hard to find water with a canteen on you, and isn't hard to get food (you can go hunting and foraging too remember! Stop looking the same old places you always looked in. Vehicle wrecks are your best friend.

I realize the game has had a major change, but it's still fun, even when I get frustrated at times. It's exciting, scary and fulfilling. Exciting when you are finding something cool. Scary when a zombie hits you out of no where and screeches in your face. Fulfilling when you finish eating and drinking and see that healthy bar turn bright green again. I remember once I was running thru nw airfield before the patch when I had an AKM and no magazines and I stopped on the tarmac to eat a can of peaches and I dropped the rifle and ate and drank some and then picked up my akm and saw that there was a 75 round drum mag under me!!! Someone must have accidentally hit r with a fill mag while they were running and had no room for the mag coming off and it dropped and they didn't notice. What are the chances of me stopping right on top of it. We kinda need a floating ground search panel that is always there and goes ding when we run across an item. :-D

Seriously. I can live with no loot, but dying of starvation 6 characters in a row, in an environment as lush as this...no way. Under similar climate conditions it took my GF 2 hours to feed 5 guys with blueberries to their pancakes, on the fire, in the middle of the woods. There were blueberries to spare.

3 hours of gameplay time and the only thing I've done is pass vegetation that could have kept me alive while finding 2 hats. But no food. Please wake me from hibernation when next patch is out.

Worst patch to date.

Excuse my English, I used the google translator

people, one thing is to remove all the food, great staff want used without cans? perfect, but then have to have the means to survive in a forest. In addition to always go out on a shore now (most often) in places that already took everything I had, have to join ax, rope and find the right tree to make a bow to not hunt anything, it is already starving, and fishing? hook, correct tree, ax and rope? not counting the time for fishing itself. I'm villain, like survive, but one thing is having the means to survive this, another is to die for lack of opportunity to live, are two different mathematical. In real life could eat up grass, stirred the leaves with water, you know, the game still think limited to remove items so without leaving a means of survival. And face it, I will not get food in a latrine, it makes sense, however chaotic it is the world, some logic can be maintained, as medicines in hospitals, food in supermarkets and homes, as well as fish are fishing in lakes, in a little while will remove the fish ponds because it was an addict place, obvious is the most logical place, will not want to take the chickens now and put in the lake? does not make sense right?

I like survival of the item, but like I said, one thing is the game mechanics allow you to create the means to survive, another is to let you starve simply swapping items to places that do not make sense just because the other places were already known .

I do not think most real weapons in police stations or in barracks, but hours, which is more logical to have weapons then? are now where? within the zombies? hehe

They want to remove? trade places? great no problem, but ensure that I leave with enough equipment to survive in the forest then, or I can get in inner cities without starving may even motar a base, strategy and everything.

As chaotic as it is, is a game, you can not eat grass to live yet :)

Here is an example. I found water, but did not stop it futile to be hydrated is not food. This is my record, as I was born, I died, I found NOTHING and looked to each corner of said already. Guess where I'm going to cheer me playing again knowing that I will be born again in a place that will not have anything, I'll just waste my time?

Haven't had a single issue yet. Ran in land right off the bat and been able to find enough food, water and sometimes a decent weapon in towns like Msta, Rogovo, Vyshnoye, Shakhovka etc to get to the northern towns beyond the NWAF, gear up and then the fun times begin. It's all about ditching however you played before the patch and prioritizing certain towns.

My opinion only.. All of the "hardcore" dayz players who actually enjoy this type of gameplay, really man? How can you enjoy spending hours scavenging for a tin of food to continue trying to find something to open it with etc and when you finally got yourself a decent amount of survival stuff, you die to a bandit or an OP Zombie because you can't find any gun/meeee wep to protect yourself with. Goodbye hours you've just wasted running around numerous towns checking every house that normally you wouldn't check. Can guarantee you'll quit this game soon, or find something that's more worth your time. Meh, it's in alpha and it will most likely improve tons in the next few patches but for me, ill stick to arma 2/3 epoch where if I die, I don't care what I've lost as I can regear completely within an hour. Only my opinion though and for the record, I'm not the type of player that sits on the coast fully geared killing bambis, I don't shoot on sight either. I enjoy interaction but with the way SA is heading, not one person is going to be friendly.

Exactly. These "hardcore" players need to understand that most people cant play more than 2hours a day like they do. People have lifes you know ? Im not going to spend time running for hours without finding shit. If i spawn on cherno, it will take hours to get north in order to find loot. If the devs are really betting the game on this kind of gameplay prepare yourselfs to play without 80%+ of the comunity.

I played for two hours tonight.

From a fresh spawn I found: a tent, repeater+ammo, press vest, ttsko gear, plenty of canned food, canteens, enough burlap to start thinking about a ghillie suit, a P1 and a clip, cooking set, heat packs and more. All on a server with 45 people.

It's seriously not that bad. If you're not finding loot it's because you're heading straight for the old loot caches and ignoring everything else. Do you know how much good shit I've found in toilets? And those shitty little brown sheds?

If you're really having that much trouble here's my advice: Head straight for Novo and all the little towns around there.

Ah right, it makes sense, to shape the game the way casuals want it, which is basicly screwing someones day by being a jerk in those two hrs ?

To shape the game for people who will probably stop playing it after xx hrs anyway, no matter what and ignore the hardcore players. lel

And no, im not a hardcore player( i do have my moments), but if i wont find shit in those two hrs of gameplay i decided to play, than so be it.

Demanding something because you're casual, is just dumb. Noone said this is a 30min game and i really, really dont remember anyone ever saying they want to make it easy.

If the devs are really betting the game on this kind of gameplay prepare yourselfs to play without 80%+ of the comunity.

Nice analysis. The numbers seem legit.

Then you need to start playing the game differently and treat each hour gaming as an "episode" in your life. If on the other hand you just want to get a gun and go shoot people, you're going to need a new game ;)

In reply to my previous post, I don't mind running around north looting towns its actually what I done in this game previous .55 patch, I have managed to find gear in .55, food and killed a bandit who shot at me on sight with his fully stacked AKM and I got him with a sporter. Lol, dunno how I managed it but I did. What bothers me is if I want to play with a friend, that's 2 times the amount of loot we need to find to keep us both alive. I'm sure once everything is fixed it will be glorious. Random loot isn't a bad thing imo but I do think weapons should spawn in various different locations(certain buildings) all over the map. The reason this patch is draining everyone it's not because we are "casual" gamers who just like to pvp, it's a zombie apocalypse survival game, everyone understands it's not going to be easy to survive in one but with the difficulty of finding stuff to defend yourself with and even keep yourself alive, it's going to send a lot of players elsewhere for fun. Afterall, that's all we want is fun otherwise what's the point of playing games lol. Hopefully in the next few patches they tweak the loot to satisfy the majority of the player base cause atm, it's only you hard core zombie apocalypse pros who enjoy this patch. Which is very few.

Google Translator, Sorry

Excuse me the most professional, I am not a professional player, I do not want too easily, but if it is to bring items, so be meaningful. Now I found that I have to run to jeeps and police cars that have abundant farmagem. Time to put mind abundant farmagem in jeeps and police cars and leave an empty station, for example. As I said earlier, the difficulty has to exist for the survival of capacity rather fortunate to get to a point where no one went further, or wait for the server to loot respawn (???) then the game becomes patience to respawn and cannibalism? where is my style of play that is to survive hunting, fishing, making friends? before I come to talk to players, now I run up to a guy who was lucky enough to find a hoe.

The mathematics of the game does not offer sufficient opportunities so you do not live without food cans. Yesterday I played, I could seed s pumpkins but I lacked the water bottle and something to pierce the earth, to fertilizer had, and rolled the whole city of Svetlojarsk and nothing, found two cans of food that kept me (hungry but yellow) when a zombie gave me two shots, one broke a loss and the other broke the other, then was beating me and destroyed everything I had, I could sit beating mallet I found by chance early in the game, because no one had plundered the city. Ai died with all I got, imagine the next player to be born there? will starve, just do not die of thirst for that nature comes the water was no longer too. That's what I say, it will no longer have as food, or is this mess food cans in police car making me decorate which has a police car in every city and hoping no one has passed, then releases a form most abundant natural to survive, I adapt myself better being a man of the forest that a desperate player PVP that was entering empty server just to get items in police cars and keep changing server, which I hate to do, because it ends with the charm of the game, but in the name of survival is the only thing that's to do, unfortunately.

The game is very good, love it really, I still insist on playing every day, but only wanted it to be a more coherent thing, not by players decorated the obvious places that have farm that they no longer exist there, after all is not a game of "treasure hunt", and yet, have died of disease, hunger, cold, thirst, zombie, player, now we have to guess again which has the same items without making sense being there just because is a doomsday scenario? then a first reaches another 10 die from all other forms that have not come first? or try to run into and try your luck to get there and have something?

I hope they find a mathematical enabling not be so dependent on such food cans

There is no food. Me and my friend ran through the forest and found random places we never knew existed. Sure, we found loot, but we still ended up dying within an hour. One time, by some freak luck, we managed to find two cans of food and a cereal box. We shared it evenly among us, but since we were already on the brink of starving to death, all it did was add another 15 - 20  minutes, we found no food and ended up starving to death.

For me the whole beauty of DayZ was that you could play the game YOU wanted to play. But standalone is heading in the same direction the mod went. Eventually they patched all the fun out of that game and turned it into a PVE biased grind fest.

The current method of survival seems to be:

Spawn.

Search for stone and sharpen it.

Search for bushes/trees.

search for berries/apples.

Fight off zombies.

Bandage.

search for berries/apples.

Fight off zombies.

Bandage.

search for berries/apples.

Fight off zombies.

Bandage.

Head as far inland as you can to actually find some useful loot

Spend the next 5-10 evenings searching every building/vehicle you can find to get to a level of geared that means you could actually go and have some fun.

Have a glorious firefight that essentially will lead to nothing as any decent firefight will last longer than the dead bodies you just created take to de-spawn.

Get one hit killed by the zombie that although running for the last 50 metres made absolutely no sound as if it were gagged and floating on a light fluffy cloud of kitten fur and angel slippers.

Repeat until you finally decide to give ArmA III Wasteland that one last try to see if it's now less slow and clunky

Realise that ArmA III is still slow and clunky.

It will probably loaded once each server. Then, due to persistence, it will be empty forever. Nature of the beast. Police stations were gold when .55 dropped, now all they have are 75 pairs of cuffs and keys.

I was running out of bullets searching towns that looked like they had been vacuumed clean, I saw nothing but books. I didn't get to every house in the next town cause so many zombies wandering and I found 1 can of food. I got water from a pond and risked it and filled my belly, I am healthy so I hear that I have high resist while healthy to cholera, maybe so, I'm not sick yet.  Searching and searching and it's like everywhere has been vacuumed and only books left.  On the 3 different servers public that I run on, they all seem almost completely empty of loot. Tonight I will try some completely different servers, even though ping is higher and see what I can find. I can take a lot of hits now before my gear is ruined. I am running out of bandages. It's a drought in California and the same in DayZ. I had a dream I had an ammo box full of 7.62. Maybe I was just tired last night while I was playing, but I think a zombie knocked my rifle out of my hands. I climb up in every tower now and I even climbed up on a construction building roof and found stuff scattered around on the roof. I'll have to check more roofs. I right click on my compass and hit inspect to see my heading now, instead of putting it in my hand etc. I love my rock knife. I found 96 matches and have walked away from several boxes of matches, since I don't need anymore. Remember, if you pick it up and then put it down it will vanish soon. If you leave it there, it will stay until someone finds it and picks it up. So don't pick something up if you are not going to take it :-)

For me the whole beauty of DayZ was that you could play the game YOU wanted to play. [snip]

Who, me? No, I wanted to play a zombie survival game with harsh survival conditions and varied interactions with other players, ranging from banditry to cooperation under demanding circumstances. I got precisely zero of these elements before 0.55, even "banditry" just meant KOSing due to paranoia or boredom. So maybe would you like to retract your statement?

To people who say that "80% of the community" will be driven off - you have no idea how many people stopped playing dayz because it boiled down to "loot, fight, die". It was an FPS and a poor one to that. And when it started to deliver on the "zombie survival" element, some people act like they're being cheated... Guys, I'm sorry, but this must have happened sooner or later.

Yes, I agree that right now it is very hard to feed yourself, but not because the food is scarce, but only because fishing is broken, the bow doesn't work and farming is nerfed! Not one of you dying-of-starvation guys ever mentions finding a farming hoe. So take a clue. What were you even thinking? Both from the gameplay point of view ("dayz is supposed to be a zombie survival game") and let's call it, the 'realistic' point of view ("apocalypses are rather bad"), you can't expect what happens in Chernarus to be a Quake Tournament.
