Eugen is smart. He has obviously learned that if he is any more specific, he'll have a conga line of tweets complaining about how, "You promised a build and you didn't deliver and you're incompetent and I hate this game and it will never be finished and ..."

In all honesty, I'm stunned that he shares as much as he does!

This.

Actually, he gets a ton of shit even when he is careful about his wording. You literally can't win when you're in a position like his.

I believe people forget what they signed up for...Eugene is careful on what he says he did not implicate an exact date he gave an estimate/approximate on when he'd like to see the new build released. He personally can't help if other bugs and stuff appear. It seems like a lot these people want another broken patch by how their trying to rush them. Great things take time unless someone wants some kind of half a** build. I give props to the developers and Eugene keep up the great work; I know you guys are working hard at this(remember where ever you go there will always be haters).

I think I read somewhere that today was just a scheduled maintenance, but I'm hearing that trucks are not respawing fueled after resets. Anyone else know about this? I haven't played all week so I wouldn't know much if theres been a patch or not.

Where are you hearing about the trucks? For the record, there was no update of any kind. That doesn't seem like something the dev team would have independent control of from their end either, and it seems unlikely that they would make such a change and not announce it.

Don't get me wrong -- trucks being magically repaired and refueled after every restart is definitely something that will go away at some point, but doing it announced in the middle of weekly maintenance doesn't seem like appropriate timing.

Clanmates, so I can't confirm it myself. I did notice that a heli crash wasn't north of Stary Sobor like it always has been on a particular server. It made me wonder if something had changed, but later on after I made the post I realized the other crashes were there.

Just read the status report in steam, it's looking good, which only makes the wait worst :/

Stary Sobor tents! :)

Super excited about the inventory changes. Vehicle inventory is something I've been looking forward to ever since the V3S was first added.

So, .56 will get released.  As early as tomorrow, maybe, or later this week, possibly  as late as next week or the week after that.   If we are lucky, by the end of the month or maybe even not at all.

A new area to explore!

I also like the idea of dynamic random spawns. The old: go to house 1 and collect weapon B was too formulaic and pretty silly. There needs to be an element of randomness at play. Not completely random/chaos, mind, but just a touch to keep it interesting.

I was always petrified looting the tents at Stary.

I could FEEL the eyes on me as I moved around.

So many close calls and sticky situations but so many valuable spots to risk it for.

The car spawn there was a ballsy one to pursue and the small parking lot was worth looting as well.

A nearby Balota spawn can be gravy train North again now....

The times are few and far between when I don't feel this way. Then again, I expect that accounts for how I manage to stay alive for as long as I do.

It's not paranoia if "they" really are out to get you.

Concerning the new inventory system "engine side" (see status report) including (again from status report):

"It became clear that the existing tech behind the inventory wasn't going to be able to meet the needs of the project, and carried with it its own vulnerabilities. The redesign stripped large amounts of the system, and redesigned specifically to meet the needs of DayZ and upcoming changes to DayZ's core technology.

- Support for AI and Vehicle Inventory
- Removing limitation on "in hands" as a virtual slot (still occupying space in container)
- Dynamic changing of cargo capacity - eg: lowering when damaged, raising when repaired
- Manual item rotation
- Support for redesign of Inventory UI
- Support for EnScript (Enfusion Scripting Language)
- And much, much more.. "

The virtual slot is nice to hear, there is nothing more strange than currently using a gun from a backpack and it getting ruined while in a fight because the backpack got shot... . Also currently it is annoying for me that stuff randomly vanishes when logging, because the items are mixed and something did not fit in any more... .

What the changes will actually look like for us on clients is not clear to me, the first problem gone because of the virtual slot thing and maybe the second one also fixed would already help, even if nothing else changes from the current system ... ok, I'm hoping that "manual item rotation" means that I can now drag for example a backpack above the military boots... . But what exactly we will get, I don't know :)

Does the support for redesign of Inventory UI mean that they will be able to change the inventory UI in the future, or can we personalize something or ... well, as I said, don't really know what to expect, but I am surely excited. Also about the other points mentioned.

Manual item rotation refers to this:

"Support for redesign of inventory UI" means exactly what you think it means. Even though the Standalone already has an inventory UI that's totally different from the Mod, they've talked a lot about how they can make it better, but they need the new inventory system in place before they can make any user-visible changes to that screen.

That is the biggest reason why I haven't experimented with mines yet. I was sure I was gonna blow myself up. Time to get naked for science.

I've had two experiences with mines, so far. The first... I heard someone outside in Novid, so I set up a mine by some stairs and went further up in that tall tower building. Forgot about it, ran back down stairs and blew myself up.

The 2nd one... I was attempting to set up a mine, I "activated" it, and it and blew myself up.

I don't touch mines anymore :)

On another note... Did I read correctly that .56 stable will wipe tents? Will it also be a complete character wipe, or will the things we have on us remain?

EDIT: Looks like I found my answer. Will be a complete wipe, including characters:

If I am correct in the meaning, the reset will be "hive wide" which I take to mean all data will be reset, character, tents, all persistence.

Edit: you answered your own question....
