I alsways use " take chainsaw into hands". Don't know whay you guys can't. Perhaps its the same as with miltary tents, which I can't carry in hands but other people seem to be able to. The gasoline thing I fixed by having a pet bottle with gasoline in my pack. Just don't forget that its not water as theres no way to check before drinking.

That's true, I just happened to have picked up a gasoline can before going to the holiday camp (chainsaw spawn). Good idea to fill some gas into a pouch or bottle if you're gonna chainsaw! 

How do you put it into your hands and do you maybe play on experimental? I don't get the option to take it into my hands and I tried again with every chainsaw I find. If I try dragging it onto me nothing happens. Could it be if I put away my fireaxe, I can pick up the chainsaw? I'd just find it weird if it would "stick" to my back like the fireaxe ^^

 

Also, yeah bautschi, I played Epoch and Origins for the most part. I also hope the base-building system will be different. Modifying existing structures and putting up traps and barriers would be more interesting than building a heliport on top of Green Mountain's Radio tower and having a base in the sky. That was a pretty cool place for a base in Epoch though, just not realistic in any way ^^ I'd say it would be legit to be able to close your house from the inside (just bar it up), but when you go outside you'd have to put up traps in the area and hope you remember them when you come home ;) It would also be cool, if you could rig a shotgun with some rope to fire at someone entering the house in your absence. But I don't really want electronic locks like in the mod (or even padlocks - hell I can break a padlock with my iron beard). I do think the safes in Epoch are a feasible idea, though they should already be in the houses we'll use as base and we'd have to figure out the code by using our extreme skills... and maybe a stethoscope or the back of a cut up bottle. Same way these could be broken into (with patience), or later maybe with some home made explosive. Might also be that when you find an open safe you can set a code yourself.

I think we need a way to tell what liquid a container has inside — probably by Inspecting it, or maybe the container changing its name or appearance based on which liquid it's holding: I just drank a bottle of gasoline that I keep for shits and giggles ("Hey, man, do you have any water?" - "Suuuuure.... here. :3") by mistake.  <_<

My character was hot so I removed all of my clothing and went for a quick swim until I was soaked. Will I eventually dry after this or do I HAVE to sit by a fire? I think I am just wet right now. Oh, and has anyone else had the game freeze when trying to join a server? It has happened to me about five times now and I have to kill the game through the Command Prompt. Sometimes the new user interface doesn't show servers and I have to relaunch the game... anyone else having this problem? I have also noticed for myself that leather sewing kits and sewing kits now repair items to pristine condition. Is this a bug or is it intentional? I really like it! :-)

I picked up two today. i dont do anyhtign really, either point at it and the text will appear or pick it form the menu. Perhaps it only works if you dont have enough room in your pack? And you can only pick up things into hands when your hands are empty. You cannot carry the chainsaw on your back. it fits in a taloon backpack though.

 I got some noise from it today too. Apparently you need to cut trees for it to make the sound. After that the sound will not go away unless you put the saw away.

Ahh damn. I'm stupid. A heads up for you guys: when you assemble the plate carrier empty everything out of it. My CR75 just disappeared, I should have really taken it out of the carrier, but pouches were already attached, so I thought I could just drag the pistol holster on it. But that deleted the CR75 or made it spawn back from where I got it. Too tired to drive up there again and check if it's there. The fun thing is that the magazine I had loaded glitched back into my tent (Where it was before), so at least that didn't get deleted.

 

I am always so careful about these things, except when I play in the middle of the night and should better be sleeping...

You dry with time, well unless it rains :)

 

My game sometimes freezes after getting kicked of a server (server restart), there are plenty of ppl having game freezes on different game versions in one occurence or the others. If you can reproduce a freeze, look into the feedback tracker, if it is reported, if not, report it.

 

There are several posibilites concerning the empty server lists, one is that your isp or your router interpret all those servers answering you as an attack and don't forward the answers any more ... you can set the max server answers per second in the steam settings somewhere to prevent that ... I got the problem sometimes in Arma 3.

 

The repairing to pristine is known, most think it is not intended, I read somewhere that even though it shows as pristine, it is only worn ... whatever, it will be gone again pretty soon, I think.

Find a mountain ruck and store a gas can inside, then stash it someplace near a gas station.

Pretty sure the only tent carried in hand is the civilian tent. I can't pick up a military tent either.

just so you know drinking gasoline won't kill you. It can make you puke, at least right now. Can't tell you how many five gallon cans of gasoline I've survived so far. Stupid mouse wheel.

Why even work on the zombie ai (or decide to make them immune to certain melee weps) when the ai was fine? The problems we had was never from the ai, it was, and still is, from them walking through walls. From them hitting us from twenty foot away. From them just deciding not to get hit.

 

Here's a question, can we use an axe to chop off a zombie arm? That'd be my preferred weapon; more range than a gun, no need for ammo.

Call me a dreamer , but my incredibly high hopes say that eugen will come riding into my living room tomorrow morning on two fully grown arctic tigers (fully clad in spartan gear mind you , and that's eugen not the tigers), one tiger with blue eyes and one with jade green eyes, Eugen will be carrying a floppy disc labeled "dayz , V.56"

Upon which we will load it up in my famicom disc system , blaze pounds upon pounds , until he heroically states he has business elsewhere , in turn this takes him riding through my living room wall utop his tigers, and on his brazen face you can see it's clear of remorse for smashing my wall because like the kool aid man , only certain people can routinely smash through walls and be widely accepted for it . Eugen please crash through my house in your spartan gear to save my weekend !!! (Otherwise many innocents will die in dayz tonight ).

What a shit day on dayz.  I have been killed twice by zeds from good health to dead in 4 hits.  Swapped a server and went from bright green hyd and energy to starving and dehydrated = death.  Then put a rucksack down so to scout an area out so I don't loose all my kit to a zed death to loose it from a server reset. And I hate the way zeds ruin your kit from 2 hits I think I might have to give this version a miss and try the next one. just need to get to my stash so as not to loose that.

Hey, I was thinking of applying for a Digital Anthropology Grant to study KoS in DayZ and other survival genre games.  I know, it sounds pretty frigging ridiculous but you never know what the hell this particular government will pay for.  Just got to figure out the wording.....

It's kind of weird but it seems that zed is more likely to get a crit hit on you the better you are geared or even the better your health is.  I have been a freshie with not a damn thing, still hungry and thirsty and fought off groups of up to four and lived without so much as a scratch on my pretty green t-shirt.  I have also been fully geared, helmeted, fully healthy, fully energized, fully hydrated and killed in two hits.  Makes ya nuts ya know???  I feel your pain brother.
