1PP has less zoom in this build too as mentioned by others earlier in this thread.

 

Gews mentioned it first I think....

 

Zoom while driving is HUGE though, felt like I had a scope/binos.

 

I think zoom should be similar to what our eyes can do normally and you should definitely need an in game tool to extend any of your senses and abilities.... Just like people should find walkies and not use TS. :P

 

If the old zoom we had was closer to natural eye abilities by some standard we can verify then we should probably have it back.

 

If this is "normal" somehow, I feel it should stay.... I'm really doing fine with it.

 

I personally have nearly perfect eyesight and always have and would like to be able to approximate this if possible.

It has cost me two slots in my pack, because I now find it necessary to have a pair of binoculars, or failing that, a LRS, as I am no longer confident in my ability to identify objects at distance. I'm finding myself doing a lot more scouting and my movements are more deliberate. It has definitely slowed me down!

 

This will make it more likely to accidentally blunder into a "situation" and it will also cause us to re-think the gear that we carry. Once gear weight and the stamina mechanisms are introduced, we'll have to re-think all of this, all over again.

Anyone else experiencing silent zombie attacks? I'm not hearing them run up behind me. And, I know this probably happened a while ago, but leaning angle seems more restrained - of course, it may change with new character controls... but it makes leaning seem almost useless in 1pp.

Yeah, same for most people i think, seems the zeds heard we were getting stealth mechanics and thought they'd do the same.

Sure is quiet.  Looks like they have given all they plan to for the weekend.

Its a possibility they might be saving some stuff for Monday you know. And Monday is not very far off anyways lol.

I logged back in and found the truck I had rolled was righted after the server restart!

I drove it until the front wheels fell off and then I drove it some more.

Finally, after checking a cabin, the truck just wouldn't even start.

 

On foot again, I found an MP133 and ran with that until I found my 2nd Repeater, which I couldn't pass up.

 

For only maybe the 3rd time I ran into that military tent city in the far NW.

I had just enough time to get new shoes and grab a kvass before I heard a door slam a ways off.

 

Out of the corner of my eye I thought maybe I saw someone duck into one of those bunks with the wooden floors.

 

I was just inside the camp, so I ran out into the perimeter bushes and around to the far side to observe.

 

It didn't take long before a guy popped out from right where I thought I saw him and ducked back in.

 

I couldn't tell if he was armed and I didn't really care.

 

I'll just leave the rest of the base to him and not risk this current character in trying to confirm friendly or get shot in the back if he tries to betray me.

 

I want to see if I can keep this character alive until he next experimental wipe (he's my first) while racking up as many infected killed as possible....

 

Tonight there was a lack of zombies during my last play session, which might have just been dumb luck.

That was very gentlemanly of you.

I would have tried to hold him up and negotiate fair division of the camp's loot (if he was alone). :rolleyes: But then again, the current emphasis is the Infected AI, so..

There aren't any zeds at the tent base, but just over the hill in Myshkino, there are a couple who would definitely like to party with you!

Spent a few hours on this last night. Every zombie was silent so was really on edge making sure none got the drop on me. And when they inevitably did get the drop, they would always make me bleed on their first swipe. Was going through bandages like crazy!

1. Can someone explain me what's the deal with this 7.62x54 round? Is it a new one? If it is, then what am I supposed to load into Blaze Rifle? The ammo that was previously suited for Blaze does not fit anymore.
2. What's the point of the large round crosshair to begin with? Makes people dizzy.

7.62x54 is the correct ammunition for the Mosin. The Blaze is now chambered for the .308.

 

Initially, I think the devs believed that too many different calibers would confuse folks, who may not be very well acquainted with firearms. The Makarov being chambered in .380 ACP is another example of this simplification.

I personally haven't seen any .308, so I can't say with any confidence, whether it is spawning yet, or not.

I don't think it is. I've found every other ammo type in experimental, but no .308. Which kinda sucks since all I seem to find is Blazes these days :P

Two days ago I encountered three other players at the summper camp up north. They handcuffed me and wanted to try the landmine with my help...luckily (for me) it bugged into the ground.
They had no key or saw to open the handcuffs. The server restarts and I logged back. I was alive and the handcuffs were gone.

I thought you would die if you lost the connection to the server while restrained?

It's yet another simplification from the devs, but for the purposes of this game, 7.62x51 (7.62NATO) and .308 Winchester are one and the same, even though there are certain minor differences between the two IRL. Its rarity makes some sense, however, since Chernarus is an Eastern Europe / ex-Combloc country, so Western/NATO caliber ammo and weapons aren't as widespread as Combloc. Or, at least, they shouldn't be - I haven't seen the loot tables myself.

I believe the point is that people were getting a little too good at using the old 'dot' crosshair for snap shooting.

P.S. I'm wondering if we'll ever see different ammo types of the same caliber - for example, 7.62x54R could have your 1950's surplus spam can machine-gun-grade ammo, your newer 7N1 & 7N14 sniper-grade ammo from the 90's and 00's and, possibly, mega-rare supermatch-grade modern ammo, along with specialized rounds like incendiary, armor-piercing and tracer - all with different load consistencies, groupings and ballistic coefficients. This, of course, would require a rework of the current ballistic model, so that the trajectory, velocity and energy are determined by the sum of an individual round's characteristics (and condition) and barrel characteristics (and condition), not just simply per-caliber for all weapons and rounds of that caliber.  B)

Considering that WIP stands for "work in progress" I'm assuming they changed the calibers for the rifles before implementing the ammo.

 

Which is either an oversight or the nature of this particular 0.55 build which is stuck somewhere between the 2 stages of ammo evolution rendering those rifles useless here.

 

I would think that the new caliber ammo's will be ready for stable or the experimental patch prior.

I'd say that this big circle is just for testing. Just see how far from centre dot you can select item or ladders or doors.

Generally I feel the zoom is appropriate, I'm surprised I don't mind. Could have a slight more zoom in my opinion. Nice that I don't really get any LOD flickering as a result.

I get lots of hand errors, with this Exp.

Why would they want people pointing their weapons at each other all the time? All it will result in is a lot more people being shot.

If i see someone across a field aiming their gun at me, I'm going to assume they want to kill me but now everyone will have to do it whatever their intentions because you'll be able to see further.

The "old" servers seem to be on a separate shard of the hive.

 

So I started a new 1PP character as I was getting bored scouring that particular server.... for a magazine. :/

 

Starting fresh, this server runs well and I'm seeing what looks like mostly un-looted areas but I have not seen a single infected.

 

Hoping when I go back after eating I can start playing my Trumpet for the infected like I was Dizzy Gillespie. :P

If i see someone across a field aiming their gun at me, I'm going to assume they want to kill me but now everyone will have to do it whatever their intentions because you'll be able to see further.

You misunderstand.

 

Reducing player zoom OUTSIDE of ironsights and equalizing the 2 perspectives encourages the use of ironsights.
