Wookieenoob 191 Posted March 17, 2015 (edited) there's a lot of room in dayz for new items, and especially new rare items. i found a flanged mace for the first time yesterday and it got me thinking that the more random and unpredictable the game is, the more enjoyable it is. so i think that eventually there should be a rather large list of totally obscure items that are irresistible to pick up, while not exactly being useful. i'm talking anything from gamedude not-so-advanced's to air cannons and persian rugs, speakers, petrol generators, skis, scuba gear, medieval armor and cloaks, business suits, selection boxes of biscuits, new colours of laces for your shoes, bird cage/animal cage, watches and muh bling, gold bars so you can make a throne for yourself, civ quad copter drones, RC cars, trenchcoats, guitars, skateboarts, shopping trollies and bikes, composite bows, spices and herbs, salt and pepper, things to improve already cooked food, "spy" glasses that have a camera looking backwards (those silly mail-order ones), TV remotes and nokia phones for crafting improvised bombs, books that give access to improved passive skills IE ability to make a better ashwood bow by reading a random book, small bookshelves, small fridge and toasters (appliances for the generator), microphones and loudspeakers. all the random stuff that you can think of that you know people would want. this would be to balance out all of the rare military gear planned like SVDs etc. with rare civ gear. also, endgame should be barricading yourself into a remote house and filling it with treasure then shouting at people through your PA system to get off your land Edited March 17, 2015 by Wookieenoob
Max Planck 7174 Posted March 17, 2015 More irresistible clutter for the magpies amongst us, I agree.
tommy290 941 Posted March 17, 2015 so i think that eventually there should be a rather large list of totally obscure items that are irresistible to pick up, while not exactly being useful. This is the only part I don't agree with. I don't want just junk strewn about. I want items that have a purpose. I'd love to see the crafting aspect become one of the main features of the game. As you mentioned, cell phones that can be used for improvised bombs are a great idea. Stuff like that I can get behind. I don't mind a few rare things that are just for decoration, but I'd really like most things to be used in the creation of something else that impacts your survival. Things for a water collection system, traps, etc. Doesn't have to be anything monumental, just something that improves some portion of your "life" in DayZ. ☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted March 17, 2015 I'm for this long after most other things are done. I want ultra rare items. Like 6 flame throwers in the entire global economy....
Draco122 412 Posted March 17, 2015 I for one would want rarer variations of existing civilian weapons, for example they already made an Engraved 1911 which is rarer than the default weapon but only offers a cosmetic difference or the MP-133 Pistol Grip. More rarer variations of existing civilian weapons with engravings is always welcome, versions that have been adapted, for example a Blaze with a permanently attached Scope like the Longhorn. As for items I'd ultra rare but unique clothing items, for example a Circus Clowns Outfit or a Street Performer. Food items could exist such as collector brand items such as alcohol, a very rare bottle of expensive brandy (that before the apocalypse would've cost $1000). roguetrooper 201 Posted March 17, 2015 also, endgame should be barricading yourself into a remote house and filling it with treasure then shouting at people through your PA system to get off your land With a double barrel shotgun in your hands!

OnionOfShame 138 Posted March 17, 2015 I agree, endgame should not necessarily be military loot. I think we need some better civilian clothing, as the Gorka Jacket is pretty much objectively the best Jacket right now. More improvised things would be cool too like IEDs, molotov cocktails, and improvised grenades from spray paint cans. Something I would especially like to see is more civilian "vests". We could have belts worn normally or as bandoliers to hold items, police equipment belts, hunting vests, or even a modular/customizable chest belt harness to hold ammo pouches, holsters, canteens, equipment, etc.Something somewhat related, we should be able to hold our sawn-off weapons in a Chest Holster slot. The chest Holster is quantifiably pretty much the worst choice for a Vest right now, but if I could put my sawn-off IZH-43 in it I would take that just for the badassery.
FlimFlamm 509 Posted March 17, 2015 (edited) When bases are buildable and you have your own room, you are going to want to decorate it will all these sorts of knick knacks. You will feel the nesting instinct and you will truely feel safe and at home when you are snuggled up in your bed for comfort and warmth when you are sick. That way when you get invaded, murdered, and your base blown up or destroyed, you will feel that genuine sense of anguish and loss that DayZ delivers so well, which of course then turns to anger, and then to hatred, and then another incorigible bandit will have been born. This is the DayZ circle of life. Edited March 17, 2015 by FlimFlamm

Duck hunting and winter sports are big where I live, and I see guys walking home after shooting wearing harnesses that look exactly like SMERSH vests, bag and all. There's a mess of good hunting equipment that would be as good or better than military gear, being that it's produced at a premium instead of by the lowest bidder. Expensive snowboarding jackets, helmets, etc. need more love too. Also, the sawed-off shotgun seems like it would be too wide for the chest holster, but the B95 and IZH18 would fit alright.
