Patch is working completely fine. 

the problem is DDoS attacks mate, already have it fixed somehow so try to be gentle, it's Xmass FFS.

its not developers fault their servers got attacked by North Korea http://map.ipviking.com/ <<<<<--- that is also a reason why dayztv.com isn't working.

Well... i do have this shiny new Wii U upstairs for the grand daughters for xmas with Super Mario 3D World that's supposed to just rock!  I'm thinking I may need to go "test" it.  Ya know, just to make sure everything works ok.

i spawned in middle of nowhere without anything (nor even a shirt or torch) and there is no loot around

Ok guys, after a few server changes, i managed to found a server with loot. killed my self and re spawned, joined another server and my character saved.

Let's play folks, it's safe now i think :D

I have only joined private but it worked.
