Helicopter crash sites?

Are they worth the effort to find them?

I've joined a private white list server with 1 hours restart time specifically because I wanted to find a helicopter crash site which wasn't looted yet. After approximately six hours of running around West side of Chernarus I finally found it! Literally five minutes after server restart I spotted a smoking UH-60-somethingsomething outside zelenogorsk. I rushed there like a mad dog, finally my days of looting are over, now I can retire and live peacefully like a hermit.

 

Well, I found 1x60, 1x40, 1x30, 1x20 M4 mags, 2 identical butstocks for M4, Amphibia S, package of ammo, a hat and basic iron sights.

Meanwhile walking over to aircraft hangars we can find foot wear in five different collors.

What are your thoughts about Helicopter crash sites?

How would you like for loot to be distributed on the server?

LOL!!!!  I'm still in the running around part.  I've combed a good pat of western Cherno and have yet to spot a crash site.  I dont try to time server restarts though ... but frankly, at this point I don't even care if there's loot at the site, I just want to find a damn crash site LOL.

they are really not worth the effort, especially not for the M4, the M4 is rare, but not really that good it would pay off the effort finding it.

ive been crashsite hunting with a mate for the last few days and all we found were all parts for the m4 but not the weapon, also 2 amphibias, few makarovs and

maaaany m4 magazines, in 2 days we found 3 smokey crash sites and 4 normal mi-8's and so far it didnt pay off. the AK101 is a much better weapon than the M4 imo

and also easier to find which makes it more valuable imo.

 

the only positive part about crashsites would be people cant server hop that. youd expect anyone in a military base, but you can almost be sure you are alone at a crashsite, unless

theres many people on the same server looking for the same crashsites as you, and the odds are small for that.

I found my first helicopter crash this weekend, west of pavlovo. It might have been looted before, because all i found was 

two 20 mags with the 5.56×45mm.

I am of the opinion that every helicopter crash site should have 1 weapon with a mag and ammo for it, as well as other higher end military loot like ammo cases, high-cap vests, and maybe even the press vest. 

 

I cant stand that a heli crash site is so rare and when you get there on a fresh server first, you only find pants and unusable parts for a rifle. There should be a reward for anyone who finds one like an AKM with mag and ammo box, or AKM, scope, mag... etc. At least one weapon that would make you ask yourself, should I drop the one I have for this? 

 

Like take the M4.. if you do find one, 5/10 there wont be the parts you need to make it a viable weapon initially. So you have to decide to grab the M4 that is currently unusable besides a 1 round a time thing, if that.. and then you have to find other crash sites if you do keep it, eventually to make it a viable weapon... and in the end, other weapons compare just fine to it that are much easier to find and maintain.. so why? 

 

In the end, I hope they make it worth while. Right now its too early to get really worked up about it. But if it stays this way.. it will be maddening.

You are looking in the wrong place!!.....Do not look for heli crashes.....look for people that have visited heli crashes and request them to give out the M4 and its components....

If the AKS-74u continues to fit in a pack like it does, I don't see a point to even looking for crashsites any more. Once the platform is further updated we should be able to integrate furniture to equip scopes. Right now it is a great backup if you prefer to snipe with the Mosin and not want to worry about dual carrying too.

I never search for chopper sites....probaly because the forests areas in the west are so boring to travel around. The forest need more fluff...the graphics is just too boring atm. Some other parts of the map are beginning to look decent though. But really not worth spending time in the boring forests of the west if u already have some kind of AK weapon.

I've searched for crash sites for a while just for the kicks of finding an M4 after not using it since March 2013 (my first encounter with "h" bastards using infinite ammo M4) and not seeing one since the crash sites were implemented, and was lucky enough to find 2 x M4 with plenty of parts and ammo, found on 7 or 8 different crash sites.

 

I've tested it and messed around with the parts, and since they tweaked the weapons, an M4 with plastic parts is very accurate up to 250-300m. On my experiences using an ACOG. It's not as accurate as the AK101, but still, very good weapon.

 

But that said, too rare for what it's "worth". Searched and found one just for fun, cause I like setting myself some goals to keep me moving around the map. It's the only real reason to want one in my opinion, for personal taste and aesthetics, as it's not better than weapons easier to come by.

 

It's purely a matter of taste. A waste of time, unless you get some fun from it.

Edit: Something I don't like about 0.50, is that everything is pristine. I liked having to search for undamaged parts, even if it was pointless as it didn't affect the weapon's stats. Can't wait to see various state of items coming back and having the weapon attachments' condition matter, and how it will affect the weapon itself.

I never go looking for helicopter crash sites, but if you find one, MAKE SURE someone isn't just waiting for you to just go up to it so they can kill you, but ive found three grenades, a m4a1 with two full mags, and 60 extra ammo. with some pristine attachments, so they are DEFINITLEY worth the while!

Actually am only looking for crash sites so I can find smesh vest and combine it with smesh backpack.

I was simply disappointed by the loot when I first discovered 100% untouched helicopter.

I think HCS should be ultra rare. Like a 1% chance of spawning on each server restart and it lasts an hour only before disappearing but it always has some really good gear.

If there is a possibility of 50 players per server, nothing should be ultra rare.

 

Current HCS mechanics need to be reworked to be a live event, instead of a spawn object on server restart.

I agree with this 100%!!!  There are some of us that just prefer the M4 to the AK's, not because of performance but because it's what we have experience with in real life.  PLEASE give us a greater chance to find and actually use them if we're willing to go to the effort of trying to locate them!

I mean.. think about it.. Helicopter crashes.. there was an AR on board, but it was not loaded, and there was no ammo on board for it.

Probably in the police cars. Which I have not seen one of since .5 come to think of it.
