Edit: Turns out I had the 600 meters wrong, it was more like 300, sorry about that! Still, as far as raw positioning of the Zed vs. my position up on the hill goes, I think it would still be fair to say it shouldn't have happened.

 

In the past I have read that zed aggro was set around 300 meters.

You may have simply crossed the sweet spot in the zeds vision unintentionally.

 

I however do agree that this seems like a bit much and I made mention of it earlier in this thread.

 

I'm hoping to see a range of levels of zed sensitivity across the board similar to how we see them moving or not moving etc.

 

A naturally more active/aggressively searching zed would be easier to aggro.

I just wanted to say that the game is starting to look really awesome. Took a tour through new cities in the north west - beautifully made. Good amount of interesting buildings and just the right amount of loot, too. Keep up the good work!

Sure why not, as long as they fix wells so we can get water. 

For now, i suggest you to take a long hard look at the chernarus map, note the ponds area and keep them in mind ;)

Yeah i know. When you glitch through the floor, which breaks your legs, ruins your pants and kills you eventually, that all happens server side with no change in position on the clients screen. The server doesn't update your position correctly for a fracture of a second, thinks you're flying in midair inside of the building and drops you to the ground on his side, but updates your actual position quick enough for nothing to change on your screen. It's the same bug that kills you on balconies, stairs and ladders.

Vanishing items. A buddy had his LRS vanish of his rifle, and the full yellow case I my drybag vanished.

First person character is doing alright after running semi randomly north and beginning to starve.

 

At the new military tent city it seemed people had been there long before me and stripped the place clean of the goodies.

 

A Longhorn and 6 more .357 rounds was all I found of use in the entire place really.

 

Only 2 zeds in all of Pavlovo, which seemed to have been picked clean of all the beverages, and weapons/ammo, but still had a fair amount of loot in general.

As stated many times... do NOT get attached to your gear haha !! Crap like that will still happen many times until we reach the final release or at least, the beta phase !

I think it should actually be the opposite. Now, I am just throwing around ideas here and it's purely my personal opinion, doesn't mean that I'm claiming that your perception is wrong. But let me explain.

If an infected in the lands of Chernarus serves no other purpose other than eating people's brains, than surely he's not quite up to speed with his brain anymore. This would mean that he's not really the smartest or even thinks anymore at all. The only thing that is left would be his instincts. These instincts dictate his behavior and thus he's out for a hunt. As soon as he sees movement (may that be a cow or a human, he doesn't care) he will run to see what's going on. If it's nothing, he will turn around again, but as he is approaching he can clearly make out that it's something he can eat, thus continues to engage.

You followed the same path of thought, though you may not realize - but this is exactly what has happened here and why it (in my personal opinion) shouldn't need much tweaking.

Agreed, if I can easily see movement at 300m, then there is no reason why a zed shouldn't have the same capability. Also, I find that I can get to within one, or two meters behind a zed, when crouched, before he alerts to me. Surely sound plays a part in this scenario, as opposed to vision. The thing that rubs me the wrong way is that the zeds can see me in buildings, when crouched. I'm not complaining about being seen through a low, first floor window, but their ability to see me through walls, when I am crouched on the upper floors of a building.

I was crawling on the ground because of the fractured leg and i kept receiving warnings that my leg was in pain etc etc. Then after 20 seconds i just died. If it was a glitch i should have fallen downstairs but i didn't.

 

It very well may be 2 things contribute to your death. Floor glitch as starter. You have got severe leg fracture.

Do you know: your pants were ruined or not? Your boots were ruined or not?

Assume as most likely worse case scenario, boots ruined.

You start crawling, you have got Foot Injury in addition to your Fracture  Injury.

Foot Injury Messages "My feet hurt","My feet are sore" means you are loosing 10 base health/sec, if you are moving, even very slow,

depending how rough terrain you are, you may trigger rough multiplier, and loose 100 health/sec, up to 500 (?). You are not loosing blood thou.

When you have both Fracture and Foot Injury, you don't see Foot Injury Messages "My feet hurt","My feet are sore",

you see only Fracture Injury Messages "My leg is in extreme pain","My leg is extremely painful","I think my leg is broken".

Its a priority thing, or overwrite, not clear yet.

So ~20 sec moving on average rough terrain you are, you loose ~250 health/sec without relevant messages, means you lost ~5000 health, means you dead, that may explain this whole situation.

 

The only way to treat Foot Injury is to get new foot wear pair of boots or any new shoes in any condition. To carry a spare pair is pure pain, I know.

To clear things, please provide as much details as you can.

I agree with a lot of this but I don't think there should be a single aggro rule set for all zeds.

 

i.e.: Hermit zed maybe more near sighted and hard of hearing, a standing zed less sensitive than a walking zed, a hopper maybe better hearing than eyesight, etc.

You appear to be in the new buildings at the Krasnostav Airstrip (NEAF).

Yes and I can't climb those stairs at normal speed, I have to walk, like in the days of yore.

It may have been just a misspelling on my part,I thought I was cold

but as you point out,I may have been serioislly over heated lol

Hyperthermic means you are overheated whereas hypothermic means your under-heated.  In other words the fire was adding to the problem  :P

Help ! survivor can't drink and refill bottles with a waterpump or on a lake...the message doesn't appear, i'ts embarassing.

Am I the only player in this case ?

 

I hope this bug can be resolved as soon as possible.

 

PS: Good work for the 0.50 !

Waterpump wells are dry, yes, it seems more as deliberately intentional, and not a bug, since infections and cholera are kicking in.

 

I positively was able fill bottle/canteen from pond/lake with dirty water. It is drinkable, its decrease your thirst, and increase water level.

However it is chance of infection/disease, so better purify it first, if possible, with purification tablets.  

 

Rain water cached in canteen seems give you clean water.

 

I think  we could expect to be able to boil water to clean it from infection, like it was in a mod, sometime later on down the Road.

The amount of loot and stuff spawning everywhere makes this game unplayable for me at the moment. I cant enjoy a suvival game where it takes me 2 minutes top after spawn to get healthy, lots of food/drink all clothes I need and high end weapons (hundreds of aks spawning in police stations)

I hope they turn it down ASAP

How about sticking to the truth and telling everyone how you were warned for calling the Moderators and Devs names as well as spreading lies without backing it up with evidence to make the development look bad?

You shouldn't really be surprised if you get a timeout for that.

It isn't below 0, so it's not that cold after all. And when sprinting for a long while you will get hot. Now, added to that, the characters in DayZ are wearing thick Jackets, Camo Pants with thick thermo-inlay, Backpacks, vests, etc, etc.

VERY reasonable if you ask me.

VERY reasonable if you ask me.

Well it's hot either, since you can get cold. 

I removed my thick jacket, wearing only the white t shirt. I would get hot but not ever heat. Other example : I was running in full on rain, without water proof clothes and still was dark orange hot.

Few simple tips how not to miss it:

Heavy Cholera stage 3 with transferability rate 70% to other player,

messages "I feel cold","I start to shiver","I feel shivery","I'm shivering","I feel exhausted","I feel extremely tired","I feel a rumble in my bowels","I just soiled myself", and no inventory notifier.

You loose 12 base water/sec, and 3 base blood/sec, with your current thirst multiplier, so it could be much more than 12/3.

There are no min blood loss limit, so you can die.

You can get generic bleeding, wound infection, cholera and foot injury at the same time.

 

I am not sure, that you can have Common Cold, Angina, Influenza, Brain Flu and Cholera at the same time.

 

(Angina as high temperature fever, not stenocardia)

Since the .50 rollout, they have supported Private servers on private shards.  Some folks have always claimed, illegally, "private" status.  There is much confusing terminology in the labeling of servers now - it seems that everybody who wants to, private shard or no, is now passwording his server.

 

What is the official word on that now?  Because, of course, a passworded server that doesn't have a private shard is just an A-hole server.  How do we tell which is legit, and which should be disabled?

Well technically all the non private server cannot have passwords. But they do.

 

We were told to report them to the server providers (all of them if server name does not say which one it is) and we have been doing so, and while some get removed and we are winning few battles, it seems we lost the war. The number of rule breaking server is very high which isn't surprising at all, you can't expect people to be willing to devote their time to write down (can't copy it) so many server IPs names etc and send them all to providers. I don't know if BI is doing anything with that but if they are they are failing.
