Phrases might come handy when you encounter a non-English speaker.

Recommended Posts

Hello there survivors,  here I'm to post a topic which will also allow anyone to contribute here by simply translating their language in to readable / understandable and easily pronouncable phrases.

Here's the full list of the phrases which we require and  you're meant to translate. (Drop me a PM if you wish to contribute)

Few notes before you go ahead:

- Phrases must be the easiest and quickest way to give the intention.

- They must contain how it's written originally from the language aswell and the easiest way to be read in English. So first the original then the easiest way to say it in English.

How can I use this?

You may print this and keep near you and when you encounter someone you can read them through VOIP, or you can keep this page open when you're playing and paste the phrases to the chat.

At this game It's all about encounters and sometimes not everyone we encounter can speak English, but we possibly need something or immediate help. This can be useful when you encounter such situations.

The format:

I'm friendly - I'm hungry - I'm thirsty - I'm low on blood - I need a blood bag kit - I'm ill - I need bandages - I need charcoal tabs - I need (Tetracycline) antibiotics - My friend is hurt - Bandits are near - "Careful" or "watch out" - I need new clothes - I feel cold - I feel hot - My gear is ruined - I need light - For Thank you - Good bye - Hello -I need  (..item..) -

Don't forget an incredibly important line in any communication where you have armed people in a post-apocalyptic setting.

Might be an idea to post phonetic versions of the Russian. 99% of English speakers are not only totally unfamiliar with the Cyrillic alphabet, but also with the phonetics of translated Cyrillic...

Should I try to convert sounds using this?

If the non-English speaker is of southern European origin, you just attach an 'o' to the end of every other word. If the speaker is of Russian or other Slavic origin you do the same, except with 'off' and 'ski'. Bingo, instant understanding.

If the speaker is of American origin, just give up.

This is basically spanish in a nutshell.  Just don't say embarrasado instead of embarrased, because guys think you're pregnant...

My second language at collage is German, I can understand what those mean and I don't appreciate it.

You're funny though.

Lol, beside the fact that the 'translations' are fun, the phonetics, the orthography and grammar are rubbish... (most likely no difference for a non-native speaker :-P)

(and please don't say "sh" when it reads "ch")

I just do like the French do if people don't understand me. Repeat myself, but more loudly and slowly.
