dayz is buggy

Recommended Posts

So, I'm stuck underground, after multiple server hops.

I kind of wish there was a suicide button.

Family mode in steam is disabled, so I bought a new copy of the game and installed in on a new windows user for my brother.  His version over-wrote my character.  4 hours wasted.

His character is stuck underneathe a building once he logged back in (after being on the roof).  Another 2 hours wasted.

"It's alpha, it's alpha"

Whatever!

The game was released in Dec 2013.  If you defend this, then your time is clearly worth nothing. I just feel sorry for you.  If you think it's acceptable for 6 hours of your time to be wasted then go ahead and give me **** for feeling aggrieved.

If my thread/post is deleted I'll make it heard elsewhere. I make my living from the internet so go ahead, test me.

I've spent 50 hours on the game because the concept is awesome, every time you meet another player you have no idea what to expect. However the fact the bugs ruin characters and your only choice is to let them starve (for over an hour), it just sucks and ruins the game. I have no intention of even looking at this game for another 6 months.

I know this is not a very constructive thread, but where do I start? How about I sell you a car, it's an alpha stage.  I call it a car, but you have to pick it up and carry it. You have to put fuel in it, but the car won't use it.  You have to pay tax on the MOT and service, even though the wheels won't turn and the gears don't work. Yeah, walking would be easier, but then you wouldn't have that nice car you have to carry around like Fred Flintstone.

Inb4 "Alpha so stfu"

But, srs. That isn't even an excuse anymore. It's a fucking everything-proof shield. Sure, DayZ is a solid game. But, it has its faults. DayZ should just accept that not everything can be placed on its alpha status rather than just screaming "ALPHA!" Nether never did that. And it's already out of Beta, and Alpha.

But, hey. DayZ's fun if you get around the glitches and bugs up the ass. Certainly better than Destiny...

BIS games are buggy. You cannot attempt games on the scale that they do without having to tolerate some loose ends.

Also alpha, beta, bugs bugs bugs.

Sprint towards the wall and hop. Repeatedly.

When the car has a giant label on it that says "CAR IS NOT YET FINISHED" and you only want a finished car, then don't buy the car. You might try giving that warning label another read.

Cry me a river man, didn't you read all the Warnings before even purchasing the game!? Dec 2013? That was the early access release and that's where it still is at.
Plus if you think that a few hours is wasted time, then this is the wrong game for you, because there is no progress in this game, you enjoy while your alive, then its back to zero. Take this DayZ mod quote "Don't get attached to your Gear".

I tried the running and hopping, gave it about 10 minutes.  The engine seems to know I can't move freely because of the wall boundaries. How I ended up there after logging in is a mystery.

You're missing the point entirely. It shouldn't be called a "car" at all. I thought I was buying an unfinished car, and got a brick with tassles instead.

Like I said, I really like the game, but what's the point of spending time on it if it can be taken away through bugs so easily? Dying is part of the concept. Spending 2-4 hours building a character and the next time you log in it's just gone (not even version update or whatever) is just wasting your life away.

Like I said I've spent 50 hours on the game, and things like clipping through walls, random leg breaking, or items disappearing can be forgiven. Dying suddenly because you got sniped is one thing.  Getting stuck in a wall, and having to wait over an hour before you can play again is different. Also I bought 2 licenses, 2 steam accounts, 2 Windows users and I'm only getting the value of one license.  There's no defence for that.

Try all angles. Try sprinting at the wall and alt-F4ing the game. I've had it happen to me in multiple buildings. It's because you logged out upstairs. There's some mis-communication in the server about your character location when you log back in. It's best to log out on flat ground. Known bug.

I believe you are the one missing the point, sir. Again, read the disclaimer when you start the game.

The point of spending time on it is to HELP the devs FIND these bugs and report them.

Again, READ THE MESSAGE.

Also, the rule for DayZ has been the same since it's inception: never get attached to your gear.

I feel your pain dude.  But at the same time, I laughed my ass off when I saw your pic, cause that shit is like, what the cover of Day Z should look like when they sell it to people.  You just gotta take it in stride.

As far as advice though, just leave your game on and let him starve.

Well 50 hours in DayZ is not considered very much actually and still the amount of time spent in the game is worth the prize (in my opinion at least)

I don't even play that much because there is not much to do yet, but I always like to support and come in once in a while after patches, but I have never complained for any of the bad things in the game, I mean its shitty yes, but I am expecting that already.

And everything you said that has happened to you has happened probably 10 times worse to everyone. I have gotten out of situations like stuck under the floor, sometimes I was lucky or took me forever, but other times I would have to wait weeks to get a character wipe to be able to play again, but its ok. If the game is that broken I couldn't play, then that is what was meant.

I am not defending the game, but if the developer of a game himself tells you not to buy the game, what can you expect?

I would recommend you watch this video.

*snip*

The game was released in Dec 2013.

*snip*

Where did you get a finished version of the game?

I want one too!!!

The "game" is projected to release in 2016.

If you have a time machine, you're seriously holding out on the rest of us.

Ignore everyone above, don't kill yourself.

go to feedback.dayzgame.com and post a bug report, ask them to take you out.

Give your steam profile link at the post.

I have experienced this 3 times so far and at all of them they took me out.
