Cross between KoS and a Bandit

I kill geared / armed players both for their gear and for the sake of killing. But I don't kill bambies or unarmed players who do not attack me.

I waver between Neutral and Hero depending on the situation, I'm not like most Heroes though, I will not put my team or myself into a situation that would mean death for any one of us, some say that's being a coward, I say, you can't be a Hero if your dead...

I try my best to avoid people depending on what their wearing, mainly their gun, and if it's a crowded place or not, I don't mind talking to people because in this game, I find interacting with people to be one of this most fun experiences you can have, but like I said, if I even get a slight feeling like I'm going to get shot, I do my best to avoid people and only make contact when the odds are in my favor.

If I'm bored and need some excitement and there is an armed guy I can engage, I'll engage. Sometimes I'll shoot to kill, other times I'll shoot to miss to make things exciting. I enjoy the rush of PVP in this title more then anything else, so there is a clear reason for me to pop up shots at people who can pop shots back at me.

Mostly neutral. If I didn't shoot you it doesn't mean I want you to follow me around and be my friend. If you are attacked by zombies or w/e, I give a hand then we part ways.

Oh, on a sidenote or just as a small detail you don't really need to heed: Future polls and results of those will be published here in addition (and in the respective forum section there): http://vulturecorporation.com/studies

Of course, in this case there may also surely be a summary here in this thread once enough voted. While the results seem clear already, more votes should be better. So keep on voting.

So far it seems that almost two third of people are flexible, opportunistic or, as that's included in the description, trying to avoid people.

Even if we understand that about 119 or 120 people hardly make up all of the community, it can still serve as an average value. That is interesting if compared to personal experiences where it seems that most people are rather hostile. Because of yourself (or me, in that case) wearing full gear and a weapon? Trust? Risk / Reward calculation?

Thanks for all so far, further studies may be likely. Unless more vote within a short time (some days perhaps), we'll use the values we have so far.

Naw, I jump from town to town. If I do run into someone whose in trouble I assess the situation and attack accordingly.

None of this random hero run and gun ish. BE TACTICAL!

KOS. Mostly asshats with 35 slot backpacks. Because I know their inventory is filled with duct tapes, clippers, water purification tablets and weapon cleaning kits

Hm, extending a bit.

Keep voting. Aim is to reach at least 150, maybe 200.

If, for some reason, you voted before and can vote again, please refrain from voting again. Goal is to have 150 or 200 votes where 1 vote equals 1 actual person.

Bump. Come on, just a few more votes :P

(Try to refrain from voting if you did already, but somehow can vote again)

I won't KoS as a choice, but for the most part I start shooting if people startle me, and then either I get shot or they do. There's little or no skill involved in these encounters, and I take no pleasure in them. Either someone's wasted days or weeks of my playing life, or vice versa.

For the most part I avoid player interaction, unless it's in a structured way. Trading is a particularly nice way of doing this, and I also try to help people who are desperate for a particular piece of kit (usually M4s, or M4 attachments) that I have.

So I've evolved into a combination of lone wolfing, crash hunting, trading, and occasional camp building. Put my first tent up (with Grundlesmuggler's assistance) yesterday - it was nice to learn a new set of things in the game.

honestly i don't think in terms of good bad or neutral anymore i just react to each situation in a way where i can come out alive if that means killing someone or helping someone i will i'm not an asshole i don't grief and i don't troll and i don't play for the lols. if someones killing folks that i feel don't deserve it and i think i can come out the victor i will try and kill them but in the end it all comes down to me and my friend walking away alive.

If i encounter players in the wilderness I tend to be friendly, unless they have their rifle drawn, then I will tend to avoid them and shoot on sight if they follow me. I find that more often than not, they are out to get me.

If i encounter players in larger cities I will keep an eye on them. If i turn a corner and come face to face with someone and spot a gun, I will communicate over VOIP while taking cover. If I for example spot someone in Elektro with a gun, that I suspect of being a KoS kind of player, or is pacing between the police station and the 2 fire stations, I will kill them when I get the chance.

If I spot someone with full military gear in a larger city, I will assume they are there to kill people because there is nothing they want there.

If i spot ANYONE in the second floor apartment window overlooking the centermost firestation in Elektro I will kill them.

Make an actual poll

There is one, Zoddie :P

If you did not see it: First post. If you were referring to that: Using this external system gives me more flexibility, as I can embed this on my group site or any other place too. The potential downside would be that some people might be able to vote various times. Given the low number that took part in relation to the big community and actual player numbers, that should not matter though.

Your assumption is surely correct. In some cases. But I personally doubt in all. Of course, I do not want to argue against your or general experience and assumption here, no.

But as a player that is more oriented towards the hero playstyle I can tell that there's also people moving about in hotspots that are not primarily out to kill anyone, but help those who need help. It's just that most of the time we also encounter bandits / psycho KOSers. Since you cannot start communication well before in any situation, there could also be the possibility that random strangers or people that would otherwise be neutral shoot at us out of fear or assumption. And that's somewhat logical, not everyone has their motivation written on their arms and heads.

Thus, communication / gestures are key.

First I was like neutral, but then some people told me to kill or get killed. Not to mention that I died in the process. Now I shoot first, then I ask for their name. An empty grave stone is sad in my opinion.

I would probably consider myself a variation of Hero and Neutral. If someone asks for it, I will help them with food and bandages. I never KoS people, unless I have a solid suspicion that they are gonna do it to me. Examples could be camping rooftops or apartment windows overlooking high traffic areas. If i turn a corner and come face to face with someone else, I always start out friendly. I don't instantly present a weapon, although admittedly that get's me killed a lot.

I just don't find the bandit KoS pgame very interesting. The gunplay is not that great, there is no such thing as keeping score, and you have no idea who you just killed, or any way to talk to them. It's a very lonely playstyle. Most of their gear gets ruined after shooting them anyway. Running to an airfield, gear up, hop server, gear up, run to Berezino/Elektro/Cherno and shoot people until someone kills you, again and again just gets old quick.

edit: i just posted twice in this thread, silly me lol

Sometimes we're just in the mood to torment.  Others we want to play around and have some fun (As below).
Any way the wind blows is basically how we play.  every situation or mood is different.  Sometimes we completely want to avoid other people and practice and learn the new survival features and live off the land.
