  1. "Players who want to not waste hours to get some decent shit while putting themselves at a clear risk are scum! They ruin the game!" Hilarious. Hit me up when you realize that this is a video game and not everyone wants to spend all day on a video game.

    Faith reaffirmed...

I've met more friendly people at military bases then anywhere else in the game... Mostly because I either don't see anyone there or I find someone a bit new to the game, I think.

Can we agree this is feesable?

Very good post. However, the "is it worth it?" mentality doesn't work in video games. Is it worth it? No, not really, but if you have a base, a group, you already have 'infinite lives.' You have gear and 'load-outs', packs of shit to pick up when you bite the dust in a gunfight or a skirmish. By the time you reach base building, factions, groups and all that, death is no longer more then an inconveinance. Even with groups now you can easily die and get your shit back, as long as your friends got your back. And that's fine, its a video game, it can be presumed that they just pick up a 'new guy' or something for those people into stories and lore and all that. But what it means is that, why not fucking try and raid that base? Might lose a pack of gear and that's it, get into a gunfight, have some fun! Video games are about fun. Even survival games are about FUN. Attacking bases will be fun. Loot and gear is secondary. The experience is what all players currently strive for. The loot is just a way to get that experience, to have that rush as you're shot off, to have the ability to pull shit off.

Bases like the one in the OP's picture will shit all over this game. I want bases. I want camps, shelters, and all that, but not the same ugly, all wood, piece of shit square ass or rectangular visual scars you see all over H1Z1, Rust, and Ark. Bases that either don't make sense or all look the same, stand out no matter where they are, and wreck your immersion. I can't stand H1Z1 because on every road there is one of those eyesores, a huge wooden base that looks like shit next to some actual atmosphere. DayZ doesn't suffer from this, thank god, and I can actually feel like I'm in an apocalypse. We need bases to stick with the tent mentality. Small, hidden. Stashes - STALKER style. You got a little place far off from where anyone would look to stash what you need, rest, and meet. If they do add big bases, though, which some players may want, it needs to be hard. It needs to be tedious and realistic. Fences instead of layered wooden walls. Barbed wire, realistic fencing, not just that wood or scrap metal shit. Barricades for houses, tarps and tents and little tee-pee's and small non-ugly shacks. Maybe a log cabin. Not what we see in every other game. Shit that looks authentic and immersive. Where would you hole up in the apocalypse? A shitty rectangle of wood and metal in some obscure field off the road? Or in a secluded home you broke into, the windows boarded up and the perimeter surrounded by wire and wood fencing? Even though allowing barricading will make it a bit harder to loot, there's one simple solution. MAKE SHIT EASY TO BREAK. If I have an axe, I can chop through some boarded up windows. Boo hoo if you spent time on that, I can spend time to take it down. Not C4 and IED's and ridiculous shit. This would also reward hiding your base, finding places that are "off the grid."

Then why haven't they added appropriate buildings to those bases to spawn loot? Or is it "okay" if the glitching issues occur in the few special barrack buildings up in NWAF? Either turn off the spawning in that one roundish green barrack too, or turn the spawning back on, or put one down in the currently broken military bases. If not, the developers are wasting a lot of people's time - How does one who doesn't browse the forum know that this shit is not worth looking through? Seems like a load of ass to me.

Ok, so all that seems to happen in this patch...

Yeah, but stomping on what people like in a game is fucking stupid and you know that. Play how you want to play. There is PVP on the coast for those who want it. Not a bad thing, literally a good thing, the best thing in the game that keeps people playing because its crazy, unpredictable, and risky. There is the rest of the map for you guys to explore and survive and do all that boring shit. Yeah, I've done both, and the survival side you guys praise and want to see so much more of is boring as shit. And I want to see more of that boring as shit stuff because we're playing a survival game. But it doesn't matter how much is added to that side, it will still be mostly boring as shit for the game's general populace and PVP on the coast will be a neverending phenomenon. I want to play the game without waiting 3 hours to see someone. I want to play the game to run into crazy ass people and shoot and slash down crazy ass people, and get shot at and stabbed by crazy ass people. I want to get that one of a kind experience in the urban shitholes of Cherno and Elektro where you dash in only to pick up a gun and kill men who have wasted so much time gearing up, only to die a few minutes later to some other guy with a gun. It's inevitably 'pointless', but its fun, it gets your blood running and its interesting. The alternative is interesting too, but see, I like variety, and when you start cutting down on the PVP side, there is LESS variety. Much less interesting variety, really, as you start to get rid of the hot-spots, the places where you're guaranteed attention. I wouldn't play this game if it wasn't for the dreaded coastal deathmatch that you guys seem to have a problem with. The survival aspects are barebones, the looting tedious, all just a chore - but a rewarding one - to get a geared character to use where else but in PVP? I get that you want full-on survival. But that's you. When it comes to development, you shouldn't fit the niche, unless the niche bought your game. You should fit the majority of people playing your game, the masses that bought in.

Well, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. They should just remove them off of the map or fix it, the game is really trying to force long ass runs to NWAF now, isn't it?
  8. Yeah, and I know plenty of autistic people who understand this and have friends, but a few I know on the higher functioning side of things have trouble understanding the social aspect of games like this. I just want to know if that's the case, if the guy behind this stupid ass idea doesn't have a social understanding of how playing video games with friends work. Also, I don't care if you're offended. The idea of getting offended over stupid shit is eating away at communities across the world, and the faster you toughen up in this world and learn that not everyone should have a filter, the better. I can get your point and I know that it might seem rude or brash, but its the word that first came to mind and I'm going to use it.

    Loot overkill?

That's not good to know. Just means the game is gonna punish people for not playing the moment after a wipe. I didn't know I had to devote myself to this game to find shit like that, why even play if you only play with friends, randomly, to gear up? Why play if you don't have a camp to hoard shit? Why play if you're not the first one up looting? You and your double-rifle, shotgun armed crew is gonna have fun until someone who stacked every rare gun in existence swoops up and decimates you with his buddy. PVP is fun but what isn't fun is being rewarded for simply starting playing at the right time, or wasting hours of your life mindlessly hoarding shit. The loot run in DayZ is fun - Boring, but tense. NWAF is a scary thing, all military bases are. But what isn't fun is the idea that I'll be at an advantage for playing a week late, a month late. Do you think these players will be active enough to die and refill the loot economy? With the capability to hoard shit, the rarest guns such as the SVD, they will just stay in motherfucking tents all day. There's no reason to bring them out, grab a disposable Winchester or another rifle with a scope to snipe, why waste the SVD? This will give us the mentality where players set up their camps, PVP, die, regear, and repeat. All while fucking up the loot economy for everyone else? No thank you...

Ok, so all that seems to happen in this patch...

So far the experience for me has been... Garner enough guns to arm three men from two police stations. Die to geared out military twelvies that outnumbered us and seemed to eat up 9MM. Spend around 4 - 5 hours looting and meeting up with more friends, to head to Balota and then that Military Base nearby. Literally find nothing. Resort to server hopping a few times incase its just barren. Every other server is the same deal, no loot at all. Come on the forums - See a post of a lootplosion at the ONE barracks building you have to haul ass all the way up North for. I really hope everything was just looted already and we're not gonna see the absolutely huge advantage over someone who server-hopped up north and someone who looted a few of the smaller military bases, I didn't see one AK or mag, and some people already have 10, Aug's, AK101's, and other shit that seemed to just not spawn on these servers. I'm fine with going up North for the super good shit, but for now it seems like if I run into one of these guys on the coast, I'm gonna be having trouble - Platecarriers are extremely common now (the only thing we found) and my Blaze Doublerifle isn't going to hold against an automatic...

Last night lootplositions weren't a thing for my group. Balota was empty on nearly every server (We only server-hop if the place is cleared and I stopped after like 3 times when there was fucking nothing there) and the military base north of that one town west of Balota was also empty. However, that one guy's screenshot in the thread troubles me. The lack of mega-loot on the coast is good but the mega-loot up North is just gonna promote the same shit I stopped playing for, which is holding into shift and w to haul ass all the way up to one spot to hop four times to get more gear then anyone on the coast will ever have, except for other guys like you. My 6 hour session character won't stand a chance against a 3 - 4 hour insta-NWAF running serverhopper, just like previous updates, if these closer to the coast military bases are for some odd reason super bugged.
  12. No, anyone that wants to block out the ability to socialize while playing a video game is autistic, the idea is literally autistic. I can't fathom how this guy could have friends he plays games with while suggesting that we block out VOIP and that we play the game with our mouths zipped, shutting the fuck up for what can be 6 to 8 hour sessions. Talking and chatting is something you do with friends, why should it be paused to play a game like DayZ, just so a handful of salty lonewolfs can feel just a bit safer?
  13. hannibaldaplaya

I KOS'd and i felt horrible for it.

It's a fucking video game, there are no moral repercussions for getting some 'trigger time.'

Scour towns for a Winchester Model 70. Most likely visit tons of Deer Stands as well for a Hunting Scope. I'll settle for another bolt action need be. Then I'll creep into some of the cities and visit their Guardposts for some military gear.

For Alpha that's GOOD, as we can TEST all current items without investing huge amounts of time and dying to bugs and all that. Though by the time we hit BETA, the game should be going for balance, for now I don't give a fuck how they manage loot, it could be a level above .58 and I wouldn't care. We're all TESTING the game, not playing it.
