How was your Day(Z)?

I find myself in a bit of a pickle. I have a semi-geared character, Mosin with scope, lots of ammo, M65 jacket, pack, assault vest but no food or drink, he's currently dying of dehydration. I know there's a fountain about 400 metres from where i currently am but my screen is VERY gray so he might drop any second. Do I drop the gear and hope I get there with my newspawn or should I run for the fountain? I got the gear for free off a dead guy but its still sad to lose it.

 

There's a Medic thread in here, you should look for it. If you know your position you could ask them for help :)

after heading north a few days ago on the newest spawn through khelm and black lake. i started out tonight in olsha, starving. spoke with thewire and decided to meet up south of the neaf. headed west and cleared the neaf with no luck. met up south near some small housing plots while i was picking apples. he was nice enough to give me a water bottle and some blue berries. i had no problems after eating about 6 of them, so i'm pretty confident they don't make you sick. picked apples for a while chatting with thewire about where we should head to next. we decide to try out kranostav. we fill our bottles and our stomachs with water at the closest well then jog through the forest to krano. check a few sheds/houses after thewire downs a zed with his longhorn for shits and giggles (no horde came after the shot btw). nothing in our search so we decide to head to black mountain. check there and nothing. so we downed a few more apples atop of black mountain checking out the scenery. good apples and good conversation, that was my dayz today. sounds boring but it was the most fun i've had this patch. didn't find a damn thing (typical) ate apples and berries (typical) but got to hang out with a friendly which is usually pretty rare.

I managed to run to the fountain and drink my fill. Then I got starving but found a goat and ate it. Now I need to find more food so I can get my health back.

I played with two other characters today and had a stroke of luck. I found a plate carrier for my gun holster and a truck to drive around with. Then I had some rotten luck and on my way to prison island my character broke his legs and ended up on the ocean floor. Luckily I could climb into my truck down there and drive to a small island and get a splint. With the other character i found a high cap vest in an outhouse near the beach. Met two people who werent hostile too. Overall a good but not very eventful day.

Matches spawn now after the hotfix. Before it happened, I did eat several raw steaks without geting sick, but I still wouldn't recommend it without the medicine.

I played on a private HC server today. On HC I play in a way that I don't use any canned food and drink, everything must be hunted, farmed or gathered. I must say this kind of play has just become super challenging - there is no rain so you need bottles to water the plants, fish are broken and yield only guts, the bow doesn't work and the animal AI is way better now. I tried to stalk and kill a cow with a shotgun, but to no avail. I lost a boar in the woods and I only got down a deer because it was blocked with its antlers in a tree... :)

 

When I was stalking the cow S of Berezino, 2 guys held me up. They told me to put my stuff on the ground and I was complete sure this will end with a bullet in my face. But seeing I have nothing worthwhile, they became more friendly and it turned out they're Polish (like me). They had a RAK and MP5K, so I'd say they're nicely kitted. They let me go without a scratch and went their way, while I decided to loot Bere for some ammo to my repeater.

 

Found a bear trap, set it up and immediately got caught, lol. I tried to lure a zed into the trap, but it didn't work. Then I found a land mine... I activated it in a doorstep and played hide and seek with some zeds to trigger it. But it just wouldn't go off! So I figured the land mine is in the game but not implemented, you know like the wrench, vitamins, etc. And then I decided to run over it... I have no idea what I was thinking. Anyhow, it turns out the land mines work perfectly. Watch out there, guys!

 

One additional result of the latest update - I'm kinda less scared of other people now. Maybe I haven't met so many, but the first question I have now is - do you really want to shoot that gun and get 8 zeds on your ass? Or maybe could we talk it out and walk off unharmed? I don't know about you guys, but I still haven't figured a method of dealing with the new zeds without taking any damage.

Every time I've eaten raw meat i've gotten sick so i don't do it if I don't have to. Right now i have charcoal tabs though and you only need to eat one to get rid of the sickness.

Well i got sick of waking around with really no excitement other than whittling a stick and tried to fly off a school building.

 

Started again and ran like forest till i eventually found gear , shot me a cow , got me some supplies  :beans:  and now after 2 hrs im back to fully energised, hydrated , sitting back whittling a stick again. :rolleyes:

Im not going fishing ( i do that in rl) not gardening  ( do that too) <_<

 

So now what, ahh the stick whittle :D . Ive restarted three times now in .55 and ended bored in each one,,, ooooh there is a nice stick, WILSON !, WIlson . where are you?Look at the stick i found ^_^

Holy shit what a day :)

 

We have a nice little camp with three tents and a militent in the south. Today, we decided to put another tent in the respawn area near Svetlojarsk. Just some basic stuff in it, so we can have some basic equipment/food. (If anyone else finds it they will be happy it's there, too :) ) My friend found another tent in one of the hangars at the harbor.

 

We then looted a little bit around Novomitrovsk and Severograd. I got surprised by a server restart while I was running through one of the red containers. Dead on respawn. My friend managed to pick up all my stuff and I was lucky enough to respawn north of Severo. Lost my pants and boots and most that was in it, but I keep the good stuff in the vest or backpack anyway. We proceeded to the northern military base (the one with bunkers). I managed to crash the truck into the tree there and we lost the front tires and the tank leaked. So the rest of the way was on foot. I took 40 rounds for the SKS which wasn't quite enough; there are a lot of zombies up north and at that base they come swarming from the forest when you shoot one. I used up twenty shots, while my friend was running around trying not to get hit. We then went north to Krasnoe and Stary Yar, in order to look for another truck.  I found another tent at a car as we went through Kamensk and we decided to make a northern camp, too.

 

So we found a spot and logged off to eat in real life. I came back first and roamed around that area and north of Krasnoe is a street full of military gears. Found 2 Rak and an MP5 there. Took one Rak and the MP. Lots of clothes too. I build one tent, so I could stuff all my gear in it. Because I had respawned I was loosing health and found myself starving soon after. We didn't take food from our base, but I did take pumpkin seeds. My friend still didn't log on, so I decided to plant the seeds in a greenhouse in Stary Yar. One pumpkin got me back to energized and stuffed.

 

There are a lot of outhouses up there and also some deerstands that spawn loot. To my biggest surprise I found yet another tent and shortly after a military tent inside the piano house. It took a bit of running around to relocate my first tent to a bigger spot, where I could hide the military tent better. After setting everything up my friend connected again and we organised the northern camp together. After looting those two villages, we filled up the tents and made our way back to the truck. (lot of outhouses up there!) Soon the server restart followed and we were able to take our old truck again and go "home" - to the southern camp. However, I needed to get hydrated, so we went to Kamensk again. There are tons of zombies in that small town! I had run out of ammo and started chopping zombies down. Surprisingly I could evade some hits easily and stunned them with the fireaxe. 3-4 hits and they are down. Just when we were about to leave, I decided to take another quick look around for loot and found a CR75! I have been carrying a mag for it for at least a week now. Good thing patience pays out in Dayz! 

 

On the way south, I spotted something on the road and told my friend to stop. It was a fully equipped MP5 with silencer, buttstock and optics. All attachments are pristine, but the gun itself was damaged. I dropped my last pumpkin to make space and we hit the road again. No problem getting back to the camp. Back at camp I attached the scope to the M4 I had found at a chopper crash. I used the silencer on the CR75, as I don't need to carry two automatic weapons and I prefer a pistol over the MP5 for shooting zombies. I sneak around a lot, however my friend loves to run everywhere. But somehow we make a good team! 

 

Strangely enough we never met anyone, even though there were 10-15 people playing. Strange I say, because this whole tour took 6 hours, but we now have 3 camps, and I definitely love the one in the north already. It was a good day, despite my death by container. If I hadn't wrecked the truck at that tree/base, we would have probably never gone to those places and never found all the tens and weapons. You have to go with the flow sometimes and let the game decide where your mistakes take you: either to doom or to salvation :)

New day. Decided to check a server i've never played on. Higher ping, more people. Spawn outside cherno, run in, lots of people running around shooting. I see 2 people, one of whom i found dead a short time after spotting him. For some reason i couldn't loot him tho. I checked pulse and it said "no pulse and body feels warm" but i couldn't take any of his gear.... not that he had much, crowbar, gas mask, childrens backpack, 2 cans of food, stone knife, nothin major. obviously encountered one of the guys firing shots.

 

anyways. it didn't matter, because this server has loot!!!! after barely finding a damn thing all patch long on the other servers i play on. this one actually had some stuff. and that was on the coast of all places. found a jacket quick, and a can of tactical bacon. then went to the police station and found a rak with 2 mags, 2 mags of mp5, a pump shotgun and lots of clothes.

 

other servers i played on. 2 police stations i was in only had handcuffs and worn keys. 

 

im convinced that i'll have to just ditch my other chars and continue to search for servers that aren't broken like those others.

 

good luck to all of you guys struggling, just switch servers until you find one that works properly. then hope that the update fixes the currently broken ones.

You need to drop his gear on the ground perhaps and not pull it onto your character?! I had some problems picking up certain items from dead players, unless I put down e.g. my own gun first. It wouldn't just switch gear or let me pick up his backpack without putting my own away and dragging his onto the ground, first.

yeah because everyone like yourself kept saying "loot is easy, move inland" and so i did, and died, many times with many chars. i don't get to play for hours on end like some people. so it took me a while to find a server that works. it was only a few days ago that they admitted there was a problem with certain servers. and since then i didn't have much time to play except for what i posted.

 

so is that good enough for you, god among dayz forum posters? king of the game and all that it entails. i bow down to your supreme sense of righteousness. you sir, win the internet because you know exactly how everyone plays at all times.

Today I found a smersh vest in an ordinary house. My first. My jaw just dropped. Then I put my pants on the ground for some reason and they dissapeared. Now they call me Nopants-smersh-guy.

 

Found a landmine too. So If you see a V3s parked outside Myshkino military base. Go up to it. Its ok, I promise.
