krazypenguin 174 Posted February 9, 2015 I'm dressed in a pinkish leather... I hope they'll add the painting option soon. The 10-slot vest is a nice surprise, the 2-slot pants not so. Then I decided to drop my gun and go full natural with the bow. Now I'm super well-fed, equipped and ready to explore all the new locations they added. Cool!Kudos, well beanz, to you! I'm not sure I'll ever bother with the bow and arrow and, whilst the crossbow is tempting, bolts can be hard to find - whereas .357 ammo for my Repeater is pretty much everywhere. Maybe if I find a shotgun to saw off and store in my backpack...Agreed re the colour - we need to be able to spray/dye it green and/or dark brown.
eno 1049 Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) Had an interesting day yesterday but one that didn't end up where I'd hoped. Hatz and I had crashed in the perimeter of the NWAF and it so happened that Schwab was there as well. I was still on the prowl for some gorka stuff for ZH as well as to replace some of my wrecked gear. We didn't see anyone around at first but with more than half a dozen additional folks in the server it was on our mind. We worked our way north to the tent camp and found a military tent. Schwab hid his backpack and took the tent. We'd never deployed one before so he set it up thinking he would be able to pack it back up again but was unable. It wouldn't respond to being collapsed. I branched off to look for some gear and they were fiddling with the tent when things went diagonal. "Standby! I've got contact over here-" I engaged direct chat. "Hello! Hello- in the bush. I can see you." I had my AKM cued up with 75 rounds in the carousel and was feeling good since I'd spotted him a couple seconds before he saw me and was better prepared for the encounter. He didn't respond. "We both know where we are right now- but it doesn't have to go down like that. Just need you to step out and put your hands up." No response. Instead he ended up making his way east behind the C-Cans. "He's heading over towards you guys! Gorka helmet with visor- camo... unknown weapons." "Where are you?" "West of the medical tent..." Snap... snap snap... "He's shooting at us- where is he!" "I'm hit! I'm hit... I don't know where he is." I rushed around the corner with my weapon up now looking for the target... green helmet... Someone was shooting. There was a lot of back and forth chatter as we tried to get ahead of what we were up against. I saw the guy with a green helmet shooting to the east- towards our guys... I pulled the trigger on him and after a couple 3 round bursts he fell. That's when my guy (who was already hit) says he's unconscious- I close the distance with the intruder and intend on sticking the barrel of my rifle in the side of his face and releasing the hounds. I got up beside him and took aim and realized the guy I was shooting at had a bike helmet on- not a Gorka. Uh oh... and he had a blue armband on. Crap. The guy disappeared... no idea where he went... he may have just ran off during the confusion. We got around the fact that it was me who had hit Hatz but now we had to get him back. Schwab had an IV starter kit and a saline bag and was able to get the kit crafted. I explained to him how to use it (since he hadn't before) and we were talking about it I got shot again. 5 minutes or so had passed so it really caught us by surprise. It was very rapid fire... but still sounded like quick semi auto. I fractured my arm and was bleeding. Schwab and I darted off through the tent camp and found a hiding place in one of the many tents. We told Hatz to stay put in the tent he was in (I think it was our military tent)... and waited for the intruder to show himself. "We've got to get Hatz out of here and into the woods- Schwab and I will run out of the tent in a disorganized fashion and try to distract. Hatz can then make his way to the woods." It didn't quite go as planned and I ended up separated but the other two bumped into one another and headed into the woods. I made my way over but didn't see them by the time the server crashed (again.) Less than 55 minutes had passed since it had restarted. We ended up dumping that and heading into the Musty Gamers server at which point we were all pretty much fresh spawns. We were all around Berezino- and I made my way down towards the mill once I'd grabbed a bikers jacket and drybag... along with enough food and water to last me for a bit. Hatz said he was by the large chimneys so I headed straight down there. I saw one zed launch at me and one launch in the opposite direction. I figured it was Hatz... Oops. I came around the corner and there were probably half a dozen people standing there. "Hey folks- I'm pretty fresh and no threat... but I do have a zed chasing me so I need to pull my weapon unless someone can help." "Hello there" I think a female voice said. "We'll help you with that zombie." I was trying to put my hands up but the stupid key wasn't taking so my hands were up and down like I was doing the wave at a hockey game played in a bathtub. I took a few hits from the zed but they did manage to drop it and a second one that dropped in on us. "Thank you I-" Snap- You are dead. Sigh. More to come... schwaBAM 200 Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) Eno: On the plus side of that NWAF tent "battle", when Hatz and I met up in the tree line, I was able to administer the iv and get his color back. The server crashed a minute later, so hopefully his color is back once he hops back in. The good thing is that we all escaped without dying! The last few minutes of that encounter was pretty exciting. I have to admit I was really confused when you saw the guy originally. I should have rushed out and met with you and maybe we could have avoided the rest of it. When I did decide to run towards you is when I saw you standing over Hatz. I admit, I thought it was you that shot him too, lol. Oh well! Edited February 9, 2015 by schwaBAM

I should have rushed out and met with you and maybe we could have avoided the rest of it. When I did decide to run towards you is when I saw you standing over Hatz. I admit, I thought it was you that shot him too, lol. Oh well! Yes it was very confusing. This next bit is as much for you since Hatz and I met back up in the crash server and have started the healing process. Nobody was there that we saw and I grabbed a few additional items before we headed east. Somehow, and I have no idea how, we ended up hitting Grishino for a drink and then I banked south instead of east... We found the high tension power line that I thought was the one that would take us to Berezino (generally east-west orientation) and ran along that for about 15 minutes- came over the last hill and saw a really, really tall spike- I was still under the impression I'd done like I've done so many times and ended up heading north by accident to the edge of the map- but instead we ended up in Nadezhideno... WAY south. I'm still shaking my head. Anyway- so my vest is ruined since we had a few run ins... I got hit by a zed a few times while I was checking the map and Hatz was in the middle of trying to make a splint. I'm so far away from Berezino I'll probably head back to the military base to get another vest. I think he ran it to the coast this morning so we'll all likely need to meet back at Ber. In between we also had another session in Musty- Schwab had to bail and Hatz stepped out after a couple unremarkable interactions. I was in on my own for awhile and made my way from Solnichniy over to the factory. On my way there (while pretty lightly loaded weapon wise but with loads of fruit / veg from a garden I was tending) I saw someone coming across the bridge to the north. I ducked out of sight to get some perspective on how heavy the guy was... I found a perimeter wall to hide behind and was looking for the guy in 3pp... Then I heard running footsteps approaching so I broke off looking for him and saw a fresh with black pants and shirt. He started punching me so I backed off and just kept my distance. "What are you doing?" He kept punching- and as he did suddenly another guy in a light blue raincoat and a bike helmet arrived. I think he had a sledge- and I had a fire axe that I had yet to pull out. "Seriously man- what are you doing?" "The guy in blue was trying to kill you..." I was wearing a blue sweater- so I wasn't sure who he was talking about. "Which guy in blue was trying to kill who..." "The guy with the red helmet and blue shirt (me) was trying to kill the guy in the blue raincoat." "Actually, that's not at all true so if you're just going to waste my time with this nonsense we can either finish this right here or carry on our way." "Dude- you were totally creeping that guy like a motherf%cker." Oh. Mylanta. "I don't want to be seen any more than the next person- if that's the story you're sticking with I'm going to head off. You're wasting my time." Strangely the guy in the motorcycle helmet didn't say anything. I just turned and cantered away to the factory to find my stuff. They didn't follow. I headed up to a barn / shed up the hill a bit and found a lightly geared guy laying on the ground dead... Looked like he may have fallen? The server crashed before I could find out. A little while later Hatz and I met back in the same server following a reset. Had to reel Hatz in a bit during one of them since there was me, him and ZH (who was home again at long last) who had encountered a relatively fresh spawn. Hatz got a bit punchy on him and told him to take his clothes off so he could check him out to make sure he wasn't carrying something smaller and still threatening. At least, that's what I thought he was up to so I pretty much stood back and mentioned we had good intentions and had a supply of food and liquids to give him if he needed them. I was putting food down on the ground for the guy at a bit of a distance so he didn't feel threatened when suddenly Hatz pulled out his splitting axe and plunged it into the guys head. "What are you doing!?" I said with my raised voice. I wasn't very happy with the answer. "Don't do that again while you're playing with us... If you want to do that go do it somewhere else." So to the fresh that did get killed during one of our interactions- If you're in here reading then I'm sorry about that...
Kirov (DayZ) 585 Posted February 10, 2015 So to the fresh that did get killed during one of our interactions- If you're in here reading then I'm sorry about that... I didn't follow for a couple of days - so now there's a gang of you, going as far as the NWAF? Expanding your operations, I see... ;) As for me, tonight I played on a night server, just what I like every now and then - a little bit spooky, not many people and tough to find your way around even with the map. Usually I play night for the mood and prefer not to run into other players, especially as they may be changing their gamma and I don't do that. However, this time I ran into a guy in a warehouse building at the NEAF. I imagine we both jumped a little. I ran out and tried to establish contact, but he was just standing there outside and not responding. Children, a free advice, for which once I had to pay with my life - if somebody is completely silent and holds still, he's either taking aim or contacting his squad. Don't you ever assume "it could be anything, like fumbling with the mic" (oh the younger me). You have just a couple of seconds to either engage or flee. Since the night was very dark, I decided to beat it and leave the guy to his own devices. Also a word about the new DYI attire - sadly, the jacket is not waterproof, as I expected. And don't try to put wet clothes in the fireplace, they get damaged before they even dry. Basically, leather garments come with a price. Then I decided to run to Berezhki and explore all the new locations they added in the North. Found and shot a flaregun, it looks so cool at night!
Kirov (DayZ) 585 Posted February 10, 2015 *sigh* I logged back and decided to take a nice picture of Berezhki, from those rocks yonder, I'll climb them no problem. Turned out there was a hole in the rocks and I got stuck within a small confinement 2-meter deep... Who designed that?! I had to commit a suicide with a Magnum. The gods of dayz are very whimsical, indeed.

eno 1049 Posted February 10, 2015 The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. I did manage to figure out a pretty easy way to get back to Berezino. I don't know about you guys but I tend to "line walk" a lot and as long as you know that whichever power line you're walking takes you to the destination it's a VERY easy way to navigate. It was doubly beneficial since ZH was back at Berezino waiting for us when we got lost a couple days earlier- so when I found the set of lines that heads straight back to Ber I was able to tell him to follow them the opposite direction and bump into me and Hatz. We ran into a few glitches in our travels- in particular the disappearing inventory item that reappears when you log in. In addition to that for some reason when you go to put a pack down in a bush it levitates 3 feet in the air. Kind of hard to stash supplies when you have red drybags sticking out of bushes like that. Met up with ZH and took him to the loot glitch area to stock up on some neat stuff... but the stuff I needed (camo / assault vest etc) wasn't to be found there. No big deal- we managed. Headed back to Ber just before the server reset (without a crash for once). That was a lot of running over the last couple days so ZH took a break and Hatz logged out. I stuck around to get some stuff together and also came across some Zucchini seeds. I forgot we could grow those now- so there are now tons laying around the ground near the garden. I'd also noticed my beer bear had been emptied so I stuffed some peaches in there instead in hopes that someone would get the message. There were quite a few people on the server so I decided I'd do a quick foot patrol down to Solnichniy and back... Just wandered the beach with a pack full of pumpkins and zucchini and a few canteens- ready to fend off an asshat but with good intentions. I left the gorka helmet on in the event I got plugged from a distance... but felt peaceful in a paradoxical way.
hekp 223 Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) My friend was just checking up the castle on skalisty when I met a random survivor down south at the water pump and our zucchini gardens. He was a bit nervous that im going to kill him, wearing a gas mask and a mosin, but after i told him im growing all-you-can-eat zucchinis, he was willing to risk it all!or was he?It takes time to grow, so I was just BSing about my awesome zucchinis and told him to check them out "Just look at 'em babies!"He steps on the garden, looks down, tottaly freaks out??? and starts running.... then i remembered ...I handcuffed my friend digging the garden.. He got a bit pissed and I promised to stop doing it, dropping the cuffs.oops. I didnt bother to catch up on him to explain, im sure he would outrun me lolWay to make friends, halp. krazypenguin 174 Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) Looking good Eno!! But....everytime I've seen someone look like that it's been closely followed by a black screen and the words "You are dead" so if I saw you coming down the coast road dressed and armed like that I would run a mile! ;-)Edit - a small update re cooking. I've seen a few posts about it but it's easy to miss so I just wanted to state here for anyone who might read this thread, that cooking in 0.53 has changed.create a fire as normal then add a tripod to it. Put a cooking pot on the flootfloor (in the vicinity window of your inventory) and add the meat to the pot. Then put the pot onto the tripod. Meat cooks much quicker than before, taking only a minute or so. Another big change is that the meat icon doesn't move or change like it used to so you need to watch the colour of the meat. As soon as it changes from the initial pinkish colour to the brown colour it's cooked - remove it straight away. It will stay in this condition for maybe 15 seconds or so and then go to an obviously burned colour.I'll try and add some screenshots tonight. My foot patrols are more about watching for hooligans committing atrocities along the coast with an added benefit of having some food and supplies for those who have been hurt or who are struggling. I've actually started thinking of setting up something more of an "escort" through Berezino and down the coast to Solnichniy- past the factory where people commonly branch off inland. Hatz and Scwab are both pretty good with the gun-play and I think it might be a bit more engaging for a larger group... while I can still tend to my crops in peace if I want to. mizzihood 12 Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) My DayZ sucked big ass. First I killed my super ultra hunter character by falling of the deck in a barn. Went down the stairs a bit on the deck's side then a bit towards the stairs. BLACK. dead. Respawned to a server notice "This server will restart in 2 minutes". Great, no way to get to my body to loot myself. So I continued and got my beloved bow and arrow stuff, a cooking pot but couldn't find matches for eternity. What I did find is a truck, or better two nice orange trucks. Took one of them for a drive to the edge of the map and beyond. If anyone wonders what happens when you drive of the map, let me tell you that you sink into the ground, the truck stops, but you're not killed instantly - only when I opened the doors and exited the truck. So don't drive over the map edge. Edited February 12, 2015 by mizzihood
Killawife 599 Posted February 12, 2015 I spawned near the balota airfield, went through cherno, where someone was shooting with a shotgun like crazy. then to elektro where I talked to a guy on a roof and a girl on the floor. i was inbetween and a bit nervous about it. they were friendly though. Someone was shooting an M4 in the town so i went around it. Shot a flare above for good measure. When i got to Kambiwobo there were some frenchmen running around. It was dark so they didn't see me so i just stayed hidden til they left. Lit a fire in the harbour and logged out.
schwaBAM 200 Posted February 13, 2015 (edited) Last night I logged in to Eno's favorite server ( H & B ) to get some supplies again seeing as the server seemed to wipe out the persistent items the other day. I logged in at the NWAF out in the open for some reason, yikes. Seeing that I was closer to the west side of the airfield, I decided to exit that way and then loop around before heading East to Berezino. As I cut through the forest I noticed that some nice young lad left a fully fueled truck in the middle of the woods! I just knew that he would appreciate me moving it for him, so I turned it on and booked it out of there at a whopping 5mph. I made it all the way to Novo before the server crashed (sorry whomever's truck that was!) Eno logged on and we decided to join a different private server to join up and go on a fun adventure. We met up at the factory just north of Solnichniy and headed south into town. I noticed a player heading south through the middle of town and I alerted Eno to his presence. We ran in his direction to find the corpse of a female bambi. I looked around and saw no sign of the man. After looting a few houses for food and an awesome red face bandana, we headed back north towards the factory to make our way towards Berezino. Unfortunately I had to call it quits due to a sick child. Hopefully tonight we can muster up some fun. Edited February 13, 2015 by schwaBAM
eno 1049 Posted February 13, 2015 Yes that was a bit hairy- before we got on comms... Schwab pointed towards the guy he saw so we made our way over there quickly but carefully. Seeing that bambie laying in the middle of the road was a little scary considering she didn't have anything on at all... maybe pants. Shirt was off so she'd either taken it off to make bandages or... well- actually that's probably the only option. There was a zed right around the corner from her so there's a chance she just got mauled by it or used it to commit suicide. Just prior to meeting up with Schwab I was able to make it into H+B to complete my patrol between the factory and Ber / Lumber Mill. I was keeping pretty close to some bushes as I did a visual scan immediately upon logging in and I saw a relative freshie running in my general direction along the highway from the north. I was exposed enough that there was a chance he caught me in the corner of his eye- or he just got bored of running and decided to log out. He was in the middle of the road, and I was off to the side towards the water... he stood there for about 10 seconds and sat down... then stood back up again (log out animation as far as I know.) I thought he'd sat down as a way of showing some submission- knowing that I was well capable of taking him out if I wanted to... but then I recognized the timing and realized he was logged. I just let it be, but I kept my eyes open behind me as I proceeded to Ber. The last few times i've seen someone log out in the open it happened when I was close by and on the same team... so there was some confidence that I would protect them in their departing few seconds. Was that a trap? Was someone else there? I did continue my walk to discover that everything we'd accumulated had again been wiped out as mentioned above. Starting to see why this isn't an enormously popular play style. lol.
doctorbadsign 645 Posted February 14, 2015 I creeped into the secret base at Pavlovo or whatever it is called. Noticed a zombie running into one of the barracks, so I waited on the hill behind. Sure enough a player comes running out. I'm not going to be the fool and act friendly in a military spawn zone so I open fire, a few shots, one shot hits. One more shot from my Mosin should do it. Click click click... Bang I'm dead. The moral of that story; Make sure your gun is fully loaded at all times.
eno 1049 Posted February 14, 2015 Had a short but interesting time at Chez Eno today... Not many folks in the server so I figured I'd take the chance to catch up on some gardening. Had a bag of lime from earlier and my field shovel (which I love btw) and started digging. Got one hole dug... two... While I was digging the third someone came jogging around the corner from the south east- from the road. He had a shotgun in hand and I was basically mid dig. Now- if you're looking around you can't cancel the action... but if you're looking more forward and use your scroll wheel you can. I found this out later. He saw me pretty quickly and stopped while I finished digging my hole. I put the shovel away and had my finger hovering over the 2 key to ready my AKM. Probably worth mentioning that I have since had my UN helmet disappear from my inventory (bug) and am still looking pretty rugged what with my garden gloves on, Gorka helmet, DPM assault vest et al. My other drawback as I've mentioned a few times before is I can't hear people talking to me over direct chat- and I can't talk... I can't see them type but from what I remember they can see me. He's just crouched there looking at me... his shotgun down but in his hands. I was pacing sideways back and forth about 30 feet away- still hovering on the AKM and ready to put some distance between us if he decides to shoulder the weapon. I know he has to be pretty close to hurt me severely and only has two rounds to make it count. I have 75 and I can reach out and touch him at about 100 times the distance he can. I know I have an advantage... the trick is in trying to prove to him that I'm not interested in capitalizing on it. Suddenly he takes a knee- and I'm thinking he's going to log out. Funny to have had that happen to me on two consecutive occasions, but alright? Wait... guns moving! Here we go- Just as I'm mashing down on my number 2 key to take the AKM of its chain, the guy sticks the barrel of the shotgun into his mouth and- after a few seconds - pulls the trigger with predictable results. His head wasn't all over the side of the house as it likely would have been in a more realistic scenario... my mind, however, was truly blown. WTF? Okay then, that didn't got the way I planned it. I'd have been less surprised if the guy pulled out a BFG9000 and used it to vaporize me to the upbeat Doom 2 jingles. Next- having harvested the peppers I'd planted and organized them in a way I liked another guy came running across the field slightly SW towards me. He cut to my right along the tracks before reaching me (I was behind the fence looking at him through 3pp). I saw he had a shottie in his hands so I drew my AKM from out of view just in case it came time to play "I'll show you mine if you show me yours." He was halfway to the first opening in the fence around the lumber mill when I saw a zed was in chase. Pretty sure he knew it but didn't want to use the shottie either because it was actually empty or because of the noise. Either way- time to help a guy out. I darted out from behind cover, drew my axe and grabbed the zed's attention. Waved it around a couple times and the zed was dead a la pulp fiction. The player kept running and I retreated back behind some cover before typing out that I was armed but not a threat... I doubt he got that message so I stayed tucked away for a few more minutes before venturing out again. It wasn't long after that ANOTHER guy dropped in- this guy had a paddle but not much else I could see. I had my AKM drawn at the time we made contact and he kept his distance about 30-40 feet away. I'm not sure if he was talking to me or not- but he waved so I shouldered my weapon and waved. For some reason I've been noticing that every time I go to wave or use an F key it assumes a fighting stance? Anyone else? I pointed to the garden and the large number of zucchini / peppers on the ground and he looked over there... hesitated... then went for it. I kept my eye open for others as he indulged then headed off on his way.over towards the lumber mill. I told him to be careful (in direct text) since I'd just seen the other guy go that same way a few minutes before. No response- and once again I may have missed him from the range. A few more minutes after that I heard a shotgun blast coming from that direction... Zombie? Player? I never did find out. I was keeping a pretty low profile as more people stacked on the server. Eventually I decided about 25 minutes from the server reset that I'd go for a walk since most I'd encountered were pretty fresh- figured maybe I could be more service further south for a bit. As I walked out onto the road there was a character spawning in. He immediately started jogging towards the south and I don't think he saw me since I made my way to his rear quarter pretty quickly upon spotting him. He ran south for a bit- then started running in place. Crap.... Tried switching weapons... nothing. A zed off to my left was also running in place at a quickened pace- clearly locked in train. Server crashed. 0456. "
Kirby12352 67 Posted February 14, 2015 Logged on in the apartment building area next to Cherno. Spent some time looting there. Picked up a mosin, various types of ammo, a sledgehammer, and food and other goodies. Didn't see any people, only a few zombies. Then I headed into Cherno, sticking close to the walls so I didn't get picked off by a sniper. So I was running alone the side of this stone fence, when I suddenly saw movement in a bush, and an orange drybag sticking out. A guy was sitting there with his gun out, looking all over the place. I assumed he was a bandit, so I stood there for about 20 seconds trying to find the best way to kill him. Suddenly he sits up, sticks his rifle under his chin, and kills himself. So I ran over, picked up an attachment for my mosin, food, bandages, a couple mags, ect ect. I also traded his drybag for my backpack. As I was finishing up looting his corpse, some newspawn runs over and starts punching me. Then he says "B**** you're the guy that killed me." I hadn't killed anyone, but the guy who I just looted must have been the bandit, and the newspawn probably saw his drybag on my back and assumed I was him. I swung a couple times but missed cause he was sprinting in zig-zags all over the area. Then he noticed the guys corpse, and ran over and started looting him. So I made use of that opportunity, and hit him in the head with my sledgehammer, killing him. I then made my way out of Cherno, looted a few houses, then walked into a shed and logged out. Fairly satisfying play session, although I would have liked to kill that bandit instead of him killing himself.
schwaBAM 200 Posted February 14, 2015 (edited) I logged onto my public character and noticed I was in the town of Balota. I looted a few houses and made my way to the airfield looking for some pvp action. I had a fully loaded repeater but aside from that not much else of any importance (a couple pistols and other random stuff) . There were 42/50 players in the server so I figured my chances of seeing someone would be pretty high. I made my way to the west side of the airfield and to the bushes to check my surroundings for a minute or two.. no movement. I then booked it for the prison (military building with cell) and shut the door behind me. Not much of any loot inside. I drank some water and ate some food upstairs and took a peak out of the window.. again no movement. I decide that I will make my way to Pavlovo military base and so I open the door and start running RIGHT AS I HEAR SOMEONE PANTING AND SEE A SHOULDER OF SOMEONE STOP AT THE DOORWAY TO MY RIGHT.. AHHH. I didn't have my headset on and had no time to react like I normally would.. as I start to turn (stupid idea), I get shot instantly in the legs and fall to the ground. I start rolling around firing a couple of shots at him as he hits me a few times. I think one of my shots from 3rd person hit him in the chest, but its hard to tell. I totally got the shit scared out of me and acted absolutely terrible. I didn't take the time to aim in first person at first so I kept rolling before I finally switched to first person mode and aimed at his head as he ran.. I missed. I took another shot and hit him in the chest before I start to roll as he shoots one more shot into me to finish me off. Needless to say, I lasted less than ten minutes in that server. Watch the pathetic clip below: The sad thing is, if I had waited just a few more seconds, he probably be the one who would have walked into my lap. If I had tried to finish drinking from my canteen (it wouldn't complete the action), I may have had better luck. Oh well! :P Edited February 14, 2015 by schwaBAM
eno 1049 Posted February 15, 2015 Weird thing happened to me last night- Schwab and I had been working together the night before and headed over to Novy Sobor to check things out. Nothing much happened and we broke for the night after about an hour. But last night when I went in on the same server I found that not only was I wearing TOTALLY different clothing- but also had a different bag (empty of everything), different weapon... even had different colour jeans on than my default character. I was also back at the car dump just SW of the hospital- right next to the fountain... so it wasn't a reset and it wasn't a rollback. I then tried to exit out and go back in- of course on some false hope that was going to do anything... but the server had subsequently crashed. Anyone ever have that happen? eno 1049 Posted February 16, 2015 (edited) Eh guys- well big day for us in Cheranus last night. Schwab and I met up in our Chez Eno server and it turned out that due to a navigational error (read: Compass bug) Schwab wound up way down south by Skalisty Island... and I was up at Ber after a crash from the other night. We decided we'd run over to Solnichniy to meet in the middle and head back up to Ber. The meet went without incident so we headed back up north. As we went through Niznoye Schwab branched off to scan the town and I posted a guard and kept my eyes open along the coast. I don't think 30 seconds passed when I spotted a fresh spawn next to the road... "Standby- contact. No threat... fresh spawn down the road a bit on the water side- not moving. I think he just spawned in." "Okay, I'm coming to you." Without Schwab I couldn't talk to or hear the freshie so I'd need him for the interaction. Our characters were pretty well kitted out and without someone to explain our intentions and actually go back and forth I figured the encounter would be a mess. We approached the freshie carefully- always aware that it might be a trap. Scwab recorded the encounter just in case things got exciting... but who am I kidding- I get excited every time I get a chance to help someone out! We split up as we approached and he made contact. Or at least tried to. There was no response. The fresh just stood there- completely motionless. I edged closer carefully but with some confidence- however if a hero stumbled onto us I know what it would look like so both of us were being careful. Just as I started putting some veg down at the guy's feet he suddenly sprang to life- first articulating his back as if he had an alien coming out of his stomach pulling him around at 50mph... then bent at the waist like I did over a toilet at my buddy's stag party a few years back- yes, that was lifting a did entirely with my back. I couldn't hear the conversation in direct chat because of my mic issue apparently affecting direct voice / text receiving... but Scwab described it later as a good interaction. "What's up? Nothing... just heading up the coast... want some food? Nice... here ya go. anything else? No? Okay- see ya." Meanwhile I left a bunch of zucchini and some opened cans of food for him. Schwab loaned him a water bottle to get him topped up and I think let him know about the well on the edge of the orchard just to the west a little ways. The guy was thankful and we went on our way. Later on he told me it sounded like the guy had logged into the game then went out to get a stream started... which would explain why he was static for so long. Now that I can actually hear it- I think he may have been saying "screen settings." Not sure. Here's a video recorded by Schwab: HB crashed again so we jumped onto Musty to check things out... my character had returned to normal (weird) and we proceeded to the military base south of the NWAF. We took some precautions as we approached but all of it turned out to be for next to nothing- there wasn't much there anyway. We met back up on the hill to the SW and started making a plan for our next leg of the journey. As we headed off Schwab said something to the tune of "Which way are you going?" followed immediately by "Wait a minute- that's not you!" I looked over my shoulder and saw two guys running around- one I recognized as Schwab and the other I knew almost immediately was not me. There were a few shots- I was in full underdose of seizure medication mode so I was all over the side of that slope trying to amaze and confuse our opponent. There were a few "where'd he go- there he is!" back and forth as we tried to coordinate our tactical withdrawal. Schwab did make contact- "Hey- hold up!" "Why?" "Uh..." Good question- we agreed later. "Well- this doesn't need to go down... we can go off in our own directions." I don't think the other guy responded- I could only hear our side of the conversation. "Is he answering?" "No." Okay- now what? "Think I should fire a couple rounds into the trees? I haven't seen him leave there..." I was scanning the location from behind Schwab with the Mosin / LRS and couldn't see anything. "Erm... yeah- might as well. He may have logged." Schwab fired a couple random shots and there was no response. We went down to check the area out and there was no sign of anything... so we started to head on our way. I was keeping an eye over my shoulder as we didi'd out of there- and caught movement at the top of the hill. "Two guys are coming over that hill!" "I see them! Can you get a shot?" "No- they just moved out of view..." I tried to move around to see around the trees between us- but as a result I think I exposed myself too much. "I've moved to get a better view but I can't see them on the hill." "They're over here! They're flanking to the right!" I thought I caught one of them moving behind some cover but then didn't see him again. There were a tense couple of minutes as I tried to stay still while focusing on the place where I last saw movement. Schwab didn't see them- and I couldn't see them... Snap- You are unconscious. "I'm coming over!" Schwab said as he headed over in hopes of getting a drop on whoever had obviously flanked me. Snap! "Whoa- crap... they got me." I came to briefly only to get shot down again. You are dead. Edited February 17, 2015 by ENO75
Ajustisiador 1 Posted February 16, 2015 Today I crossed paths in Kamishovo with a group of bandits that were killing bambis, some of us tried to do something (i was a fresh spawn too). It was funny because one guy tried to attack them with a broomstick. They killed us all but I could make one of them bleed a little, meanwhile he was shooting me with a shotgun and the others were trying to catch me with their firefighter axes, finally they did it. You are dead. After that I spawned in Elektro, there were bandits too with, at least, one Ak-47; but I got killed by another two fresh spawns that I engaged before. krazypenguin 174 Posted February 17, 2015 Did a LOAD of cooking tests today, using every combination of heat source and cooking utensil. The frying pan and gas burners don't work at all, via any method. Don't bother with either of them for the moment, they are just dead inventory space. You cannot put meat directly into any fire (it just becomes ruined without actually cooking at all) so a cooking pot is mandatory. The good news is that it can hold 8 pieces of steak but only takes 4 slots itself, so it's very efficient. The cooking pot can be used over a regular fireplace kit (i.e. an open fire) if you hang it from the cooking tripod. If you don't use a tripod, the pot just gets ruined. One thing to note is that you cannot add meat to the cooking pot (or frying pan) whilst it is in your inventory or on the fire. Instead you need to place it onto the ground and add the meat to it via the vicinity window. If you don't have a tripod you can search for stones until you find 8 small stones (they can be stacked in your inventory to save space) which you can add to the fireplace to craft a stone oven. The cooking pot can be added directly to the stone oven and will cook the steaks. Once the fire has gone out the 8 stones can be detached and returned to your inventory to be used again. Fireplaces need a full stack of 5 sticks for fuel or 3 firewood. Sticks take 2 slots, firewood take 4 and both burn for the same amount of time (around 7-8 minutes) so I see no point in using firewood. However, if you do want to use firewood note that you can stack 3 pieces into a single 2x2 slot but not in your inventory. Instead you need to combine them whilst they are in the vicinity window, then put them into your own inventory, carry them to the fireplace and then add them to the fire. You cannot add them to the fireplace kit separately, they must be stacked first. Food takes less than a minute to cook. There is no change to the icon or description, just the colour of the meat. There are only 3 colours so it's easy to tell what stage it is at. The first colour is a pinky colour and indicates the meat is raw. It then changes to a brown colour when it is cooked before turning black when it is burned. I could not find a way to extinguish a fire once it is lit. Prior to 0.53 you could simply remove the fuel, but now you cannot. I always have to let my fire burn out. However, a fireplace will not fit into a 5x5 backpack anyway so I have not yet managed to pick one up once placed, though you can drag it from the vicinity window to outside the vicinity window which will move it on the floor, if only a little and without much control. Fireplaces are persistant items so will remain in place on persistance enabled servers, though they will be wiped during the weekly maintenance on Wednesday. Take care to place them away from any stash you have in case they attract unwanted attention. I'm currently packing a full cooking kit consisting of cooking pot, frying pan, cooking tripod, a gas burner, 8 stones, a box of matches, sticks and rags to make the fireplace kit and lots of raw steaks so if anyone wants anything specifically tested\timed\whatever, or if you just have any queries about cooking, let me know and I'll be happy to try and help. eno 1049 Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) Nice work Krazy. One thing I'll emphasize (that you did mention- but that I'll repeat) is that you NEED to group your sticks / logs BEFORE putting them in the kit... otherwise it won't work. On a side note- that should almost be its own thread... and stickied lol. Edited February 17, 2015 by ENO75
