Wow, just wow.

Recommended Posts

After being fully geared up, got my guns and lots of ammo/food/drinks. I join a server, and it said at the left right corner something like this: ''This server has no connection with the central database and it may overwrite your character. By the time i finished reading it i spawned as a fresh spawn. I left the server and joined another one. Still a freshspawn. WOW. Again, hours and hours of gameplay wasted.

It's not only the gear im attached to, its the hours of boring walking, the intensity of getting in an millitary base on a 40 man server and getting rewarded and then losing it all for the 10th time ( no joke ) in 5 days.

But i know the game is alpha so i have to deal with it.

This may happen when your data from the Hive is not fetched.

I've had the message a few times and have always received my real character after a re-log (or 2).

My advice is to find a few good servers on which to play and stick with them.

This happened to me last week, once the servers were back up my character was fine. I wouldn't worry until maintenance is complete  :)

as above said, dont get attached to your gear.

i logged out 2 days ago in the highbuilding in berenzino. i was the 1st one of 4 who logged out. i was geared as hell, looted about 10 enemys.

so my friends disconnected after me at the same place.

yesterday we played again. everybody still got his gear, exept me, i was a freshspawn. so what... that happens

Yep happened to me a few times. As others have said, don't get too attached to your gear. My most recent loss was I got kicked from a server and when I tried to log back in I was a new spawn as well. Character reset has happened a few times, it's alpha is the new catch phrase.

I got killed by a glitchy zombie which repeatedly hit me from 20m away.

It's even more fun to get whacked by the invisible zombies. You are sitting there, the screen starts flashing black-white, and no one is around. It's hard to fight them.

:P  That happened to me too. I was looking at him, asking why.. why do you hurt me so?

And to the OP: it happens, if you learn the map over time you can get good at gearing up fully within about 2 hours max. Especially with the new spawns. Dont get attached to your gear as others have said, its easy enough to get more. But its fine to get frustrated when you die in a BS way. Just remember its in alpha so all sorts of randomness can happen to you.  :)

Run from bartending to balota= 20ish minutes, 20 mins to hit tent and airstrip, 20 to run back. So if you take hrs and hrs to get geared, you're doin in wrong

Definitely want to stick to a few servers that you KNOW are solid if you are worried about losing progress. Be wary of weekly maintenance periods as well.

Usually, if you're in a group, at least one of your group sees it. Another annoying thing is players disappearing. Annoying when you're playing with friends, really god damn frustrating in a firefight when you are just about to pull the trigger and he just goes invisible. Even more annoying when he uses his new found invisibility to sneak up on you and shoot you. But yeah, character wipes are annoying. Once I reverted from being practically a fresh spawn back to a character from months ago. That was pretty cool, especially as that character had a M4 with all the gear and ammo

Techinically it saved you some time. You would have lost it eventually anyways :p
But yeah it does suck when it happens.

Happens to all of us - real survivors shrug it off and keep on playing ;)

Specifically avoid servers that have a 30 man player limit. I have never had this problem except when I try to join those and except when the hive was actually down.

To all you people that say, "oh, don't get attached to yer gear bro" it's pretty obvious that he isn't "attached" to it at all, otherwise his char would still have his gear muahahahaha...

Get it? GET IT?

P.s. There are plenty of other things to do, other than spawn, airfield run, and die...
