Stable Branch: 0.44 Discussion

They need to just shut down the alpha and all the servers.

Take the next 3 months and everything they've learned from testing and really hunker down and get some actual work done on the Standalone.

Maybe have a closed Alpha testing where a few hundred people that actually care, and play the game with bug finding in mind instead of bambi ganking and wiping out the tents before anyone else does.

A new village!!  Sweet!  I was just thinking to myself "you know what DayZ needs?  More places to spawn books and rotten green pepper and are effectively non-existent to zombies!"

Ok, I haven't jumped on since the latest update yet, so I can't speak to any of the issues being reported here. What I CAN mention, however, is something that may have been around for a while, but I'm just now experiencing it.

Yesterday, I was approaching the NE airstrip, and, when I got up next to the western-most building (jailhouse), I noticed the front doors were open, so I decided to drop my backpack under a tree outside to hide it, so that, if I DID encounter someone, they wouldn't be able to KoS me and take all my stuff (unless they happened to run across the backpack, which was unlikely). I entered the building and found nobody, but I DID find a green mountain backpack (the one I dropped was blue), which I thought might be better to use as far as visibility goes (I later decided the green is so bright that the blue one was probably better). So I picked it up and ran back out to my backpack I had dropped in order to transfer everything over to the new backpack. I decided to leave a few items (a can of beans, a can of cola, some rags, etc.) just in case somebody DID manage to find the old backpack, it might be a bit rewarding for them to get some useful items (perhaps I'm still in "Easter Mode" :P). I'm actually glad I did this, and here's why: after transferring most of my items to the new backpack, I decided to drop THAT one under a DIFFERENT tree while I continued to scout out the rest of the airstrip, so that someone wouldn't find BOTH backpacks under the same tree; problem is, when I dropped the new backpack, instead of appearing on the ground as the old one did, it instead appeared in the tree, as though it were some over-sized Xmas ornament, and I could no longer interact with it, meaning I could not only NOT pick it up, but I couldn't get anything out of it either. So I essentially lost all of the items I had transferred to the new backpack, as well as the backpack itself, which is why I'm glad I left a few supplies in the old backpack, as I had to pick it up and continue using it instead.

Again, this may be an issue that's existed, but I encountered it for the first time last night. Not sure how the new update has affected it (if at all), but I think it's definitely something that should be added to the list of needed fixes and addressed (at some point); I don't like the idea of losing a backpack full of supplies simply because it's glitched into a tree. I think the ability to stash stuff where others will have a hard time finding it will be crucial in this game eventually, as well as a fun mechanic.

 

Dropping items and having them floating in front of you is an issue now for sure.  That said I would never drop my gear if I didn't expect it to be gone, I've dropped so many things before (trying to give them to people or such) that have just disappeared I can't imagine randomly dropping by backpack and expecting anything but it going away forever.

I've just been given a 600 second respawn timer because I joined another server after being kicked by a restart.

 

I was also then given a further 300 seconds for the same issue. 

 

 

Both were after a good 5 minutes of playing.

Got a massive problem with mouse controls so what you experience is being able to play perfectly but when u put a gun in your hand, you move your mouse and the gun follows like perfect but your characters head does not move until you have done a 90 degree turn so literally its not like just turning mouse and players eyes follow gun instead it is gun goes and eyes don't which you cant play so I'm waiting for a fix before i can play again. If you have any suggestions just reply to my post because i want this fixed ASAP :)

Ok so i am in game and i dont get the healing anymore or healthy on my screen, i cant hit or kill zombies with my axe and the mouse sensitivity sucks and i think respawn is crazy 500 seconds for same server

Why all the people still complaining about the zombies got tough i mean its a zombie game not a KOS game its supposed that the zombies are difficult to kill or at least theyre a thread, what are the guns for? only for people? maybe the people should get arma 3 instead of this game

I hadn't played DayZ for days, waiting for the new update. And now I discover that I need something like 15 axe shots on a military zombie to kill it? I think I will just wait for the next update.

Just another whiney person who won't play the game because of a bug where god forbid it makes a bit harder. lol, why am I even surprised?

Well that's either some lag or a right out lie

 

Im killing zeds easily with 3 hits to the face with a fire axe, no problem

 

Military ones take 5-6 hits to the face at the most

Also was expecting a little bit more...AKM for instance, but still its better than nothing! Where is the new town?

 

Server: New guaranteed messaging system for network traffic

Systems: 1:1 Mouse control / movement

Thats a huge improvement for the game.

LMAO. With an axe that isn't able to aim properly and a laggy game? No, I don't do that. I usually run around the zomb to avoid getting hit, as most people used to do.

Wow.... I uh- have to say I'm just a little let down with this update. Kinda of thought their would be just a bit more with all the time put into this update.

 

Oh well though... guess it's better then nothing. Nevertheless, gj devs.

i've had no problems taking down zombies with my fireaxe. they take a maximum of 3 hits to the head.
one of the new houses, however, has a horrible scale, so you feel like a child when you enter it.

3 hits with a fireaxe? Imagine how difficult they are to take down with a machete or a baseball bat.

Add 100 player servers to it and ouch, ill say the lighting effects are nice, all buildings accessible. But other than that, the fail is awfully strong in this team. Bring in the EPOCH boys, fire the losers. LOL.

I think it's safe to say that people like you Mr. , are te reason why these forums are so immature , but hey every guys got a right to an incredibly impatient , one sided opinion right ? Haha and for everyone complaining new stuff is broken : that's what introducing new stuff does , the new things are usually always broken , it's not like they have 500,000 different pc models booted up and ready to experience all the problems that could happen with a new feature ... So lets stop being impatient , and realize mistakes happen (karmanovka not being added ) and go do something with our lives besides put down people who have done much more than you guys could ever dream of doing while complaining at your computers .

Now look what we are getting here on dayz. As for "putting down other people who have done more than me and the so called others can ever dream of", you dont know me or anyone else. So what, your one of the "alpha patrol", well take a look at the other alpha games of the same genre with less revenue and supposedly less expirinced teams. It speaks for itself, the "alpha" excuse went out the window months ago and everyone is entitled to say what they think and how they feel. I barely bother posting nowadays, i do plenty with my life, i just have today due to this laughable patch.

You can shoot the zeds too ya know, one hit kill most of the time. Really adds a new level to the gameplay, I hope the zeds do keep a *lil* bit of 'armor' once they fix them up a bit.

Edit: Also it seems the update to stable borked my amphibia :(
