Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)

Zeds aren't finished. Expect them to be completely redone, in the meantime provide feedback about how you want them to behave in the future and provide backup as to why instead of ranting. Cheers.

Zed's are so confused and their pathing is so buggy it's amazing they ever hit anyone at all. I simply walk around an object and they go bonkers trying to find a new route to get to me. If someone has trouble with zeds now while they're so very simple and weak it's going to be a nightmare when the pathing and AI are updated to something more viable. As it stands right now zombies pose no threat to anyone, even getting hit by a zombie takes an act of god (unless you don't know how to strafe).

Expect everything to be redone for zombies. 

 

Also, that damn trial in GoT, tyrion killed it

agreed on tyrion, but the onion knight also did a good scene. he was one of my least favorite in the books, but they are starting to flesh him out some here on-screen. i think the writers and directors are starting to find their groove now. let's just hope GRRM picks up the pace or else they have to finish the story for him.

ive been reading through some of these posts and agree with some... but i'll share my experience/opinion on the current state of the zombies... they do run too fast, and gets old quick when they land hits on you 20ft behind, you can shoot them with one shot on their body and that kills them most of the time, yet you have to hit them with a melee weapon on the head? that makes sense! trying to aim with a melee is a bit of a challenge, think we should get rid of that whole "head only kill" because of that. if the aiming was accurate with melee, it may just work. also, of course zombies can walk through walls, that will always be lame... wish you could be safe from zombies in buildings with closed doors. so yeah, to sum... have more zombies (if possible), but slower, body damage is enough for guns/melee, and not re-spawn so darn fast! i'd even be for no re-spawn if there are a lot more zombies to begin with....seems like most servers restart so frequently anywaysbottom line, I just don't think the head only kill with melee is working, tired of whacking on a zombie a dozen times with him still clawing at me! merely my opinion im sure many would argue.

yeah, not sure why people say you can outrun zombies. they run just as fast as players, and they jump and swing and somehow hit you when you are running. it's crappy, but it's alpha. at some point, they will balance them. just fixing the clipping through walls and such will be a MAJOR improvement. this might make them too easy though, so they might have to make more zombies, or find a way to make them much harder. 

 

the melee vs gun debate seems backwards to me. a bullet to a zombie torso should have minimal effect, but a melee attack to an arm/shoulder/leg should really injure zombie, making him unable to walk or swing his arms.a zombie survival game should have the most realistic zombie fighting possible. too many people are worried about how 'real' the hunting is, or how accurate a rifle is. the key to the game should be how the zombies are. if they are glitchy, the overall satisfaction of the game will be diminished.

I was playing earlier today and encountered a zed that was running at such a fast speed I wasted a whole magazine trying to shoot him.  Missed him with every single shot.  He was running in a circle around me and I could barely spin fast enough to keep up with him.  Is this a bug?

Correction: I didn't waste a whole mag, I almost did.  He eventually stopped running in a circle and started to come right at me.  I shot at him and the hits registered immediately, so I don't know if it was desync or not.  Either way it was really freaky.

I get a laugh out of how far they will run to get to you. They run all that way just to get punched in the face or shot. They can't seem to actively acquire you either as they always go to the spot you were last in. When I run away I stop about ten feet apart three times, and by the time they stop and sniff at those three spots I am halfway to Berenzino where I'll die in a hail of bullets anyways.

NO. PISS OFF WITH ALL OF THAT. Not to sound like a boor, but none of that at all is necessary when you can simply have fewer, faster zombies. You could have 10,000 slow zombies, and 100 fast zombies would still be a bigger and better threat because it's a big, open map with lots of directions to run away and lots of guns. The Walking Dead argument has been brought up before, but this is a game where player sleep can't be implemented, so you're never forced to stop except during 30 seconds of logout time; and also, in The Walking Dead, may I remind you that the more constant threat is, in fact, "kos" issues with other humans such as the Governor, because they've worked out plenty of ways to deal with slow zombies. Slow zombies, no matter the numbers, are never a threat unless you're dumb enough to get cornered, which doesn't happen on a huge open world map.

Actually I've been playing BP lately an d they have walking dead style zombies. Not only can you get guns much faster but zombies are challenging and fun. Why? When you shoot that gun you get swarmed. I like BP zombies better than DayZ zombies right now. In all honesty, you think that slow zombies aren't challenging but they corner you when you least expect it your screwed. They don't have thousands of zombies but many more. And considering you can find in a gun in the first few minutes is saying something. It seems like every time you fire a shot, more spawn it and thats scary.

So Ive read that the zombies are extra hard this patch, but how are they supposed to be exactly? It feels like every zombie can sprint along with me and hits me the second I take a corner or anything. When I do try to fight them, they hit me as they run through me, jump in some random direction and still hit me from there. Rinse and repeat. It makes it very hard to target them when they seem to be everywhere at once. That, combined with the extra whatever they have now, pretty much makes it unplayable for me. I just bled to death during a fight with 2 zombies because it took so long.

Are the zombies that choppy for everyone? People on youtube seem to have this beautiful flowing game, but when I melee zombies, it's a fractured s***storm. Only zombie melee though. Hopefully it's just due to alpha and I'm not stuck with a game that my comp won't be able to run.

The aggro range is strange... I feel like by just walking around, I aggro Zombies in the next town...

So me and some members of my squad were doing a marathon tonight and all was going well until we decided to enter Cherno. We were all hydrated, energized and healthy so we weren't overly concerned about zombies being a threat, given they aren't much of one normally. On the way into the center of town a couple of them charge at us and we think no big deal, but something odd happens, one of them runs up to as I'm pulling my axe out, hits me and kills me in one hit. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if it's a WAD buff for the zeds.

happend to me to, 3 times, i think its just a glitch. i get mad when this happens.

I don't like that they can see for miles and through objects and then respawning instantly but I am in favor of them being faster than you. so 50/50 patch.

I don't mind the stronger/faster zeds, but does every one need to be the hulk. I was running full sprint out of a town and was passed by one and he was jumping over the shrubs on the side of the road. The other day I was outside of the tent area at the NW airfield being chased by 4 and did a turn back at the trees, they kept going so I ran back to loot only to have them spawn at the gates in front of me - I died. Was also killed while on the roof of the police station by a zed that was waving its arms down on the street.

Maybe the zombies should have different speeds/strengths/amounts of hits to kill/intelligence/eye sight/hearing. Hopefully the glitches will be taken care of soon, give the melee weapons a random chance of killing on first/second hit. Add more zeds but reduce the respawn time, 30 min to an hour would make it more realistic. In real life if you clear an area new ones would not magically appear but the chance of wanderers/ones attracted by noise from other areas is possible. After the wall problem is fixed possibly have random spawn points inside buildings for them as well, would get the heart going when you open doors, and could be a pleasant surprise for the KOS campers.

A zombie broke my friends fucking legs and destroyed literally every object on his entire body with less than 5 hits. The zombies are way to op for all the wrong reasons. Zombies are not supposed to fly through walls.

Is that such a hard concept to understand? And don't give me that "It's in alpher" bs. They where just as pathetic in the mod. I love this game. I love Dean. But for fucks sake people. Through us a bone.

You tell them! What did they think when they made zombies able to fly through walls?! They should totally fix that. ;)

 

On a more serious note, the wall glitch is well known by the devs and they have poured a lot of resources into fixing it, and are close to succeeding too. Check out the new dev blog.

Of course more zombies  but maybe Deference in modes. I think hitting one in the skull should kill it. other places slow it down but, With multiple zombies even that would be a challenge. :lol:

I can take on a group of 3 at a time, with or without a melee weapon and kill all 3 without getting hit MOST of the time. Just strafe left or right and don't stop moving and keep punching/hitting and they will go down. Takes a bit, but still.

They're supposed to be alive actually. They're living humans infected with a virus. Much like the "zombies" in 28 days later.

 

If they had been supposed to be dead I would have agreed with you.

It's awesome that they are finally fixing the zombie noclip, but they should not have tweaked zombies at all before doing this - (Just like they shouldn't have nerfed the kung fu run speed before adding vehicles, and they shouldn't have added a server hop penalty timer before adding loot respawn, or at least fixing the broken button for Play [rejoin last server] ... etc.) - and i hope they don't touch zombies any more at all until their noclip issue is fixed. Everything else involving zombies is trivial compared to that single noclip issue.
