Now that looting towns is so "risky" due to the Zed threat..

Recommended Posts

I gave it the ol college try at first, didn't take. I'm not playing to make buddies, or take on a side kick. It's scout out a location, get in, get what I need, get out. I'm letting up on that mentality. Once you go soft (giggity) it's hard to get that edge back. Your timing and reflexes slow, your charactor judgement plummets, and your wiggling on top of the electro church for beans. Not me man, not me,

Dont get me wrong i always have that mentality period it just depends on the type of situation really. Especially when you see a player with hardly anything on. The least i can do is give them a decent pair of clothing or a mag if they find the right gun. But i dont stay in the same area for to long after that in fact i get FARE away from areas that iv had previous encounters with ppl that i can. Staying in one place to long can press your luck no matter what the morality of the situation may be.

Also not everyone that has arms is out for blood sometimes and i mean sometimes its very rare but you can trade things with ppl without getting your damn head blown off.

Idk i always try to interact with ppl rather than shoo them. But again if its some one i dont know i try not to stay around to long just incase.

Same with me, if I see you and you don't see me, I'll just head off as fast as I can. No need to ruin my time getting killed or ruin someone else's for a can of beans I can get 10 minutes up the road. And 99% of the time now I'm just running around in the NE fully geared and healthy so no need to kill anyone for anything.

Oh don't get me wrong I'm not shooting an unarmed potato. However, if I say to keep a distance, and he doesent, he gets to meet my BOOMSTICK.

Logged on a bit today. KoS'd a town, got zombie aggro, axed em all down. Rinse and repeat. Sure respawning zombies made me miss a few shots, and that's all someone needs to kill me, but I still KoS'd just fine.

If they have 2 guns though they really cant put them down period lol. But like trading guns or ammo for things you need is always a plus in my book.

Do you think people will realize how much easier it is to KOS for gear?

See, you could loot a town for about 40 mins.. spend about 35 of that axing or shooting zeds. And end up with 2 sodas and some ammo for a weapon you do not have.. (yes, it may go much better or much worse than this example)

Or you could shoot that player over there.. run from the zed's that may or may not spawn off of your gunshots.. circle back and loot his body. All in about 5 mins tops.

So rather than people killing as an end game and due to boredom.. maybe BIS just gave us all a real reason to KOS..

Survival.

Gear or not, Nothing will keep someone from killing on sight if thats what they want to do. You can start tracking stats which.. maybe those who likes looking at stats wont want to see their stats showing friendly kills or what not.. But outside of that, you can have gear handed to you and you will still shoot the guy in the back if you wanted to.

See your original post waaay up there? 5 mins work is a waste of time? 5 mins to be fully geared vs. hours.. ???

Your saying NOW that the engagement itself takes 5 minutes, but in your ambiguous post way up there says 5 minutes to be geared up. How in the hell am I supposed to know your taking about the engagement itself. Didn't know I was a mind reader. You even contradict yourself in your first post. One second its 5 minutes, then its 15 minutes. Which is it, 5 or 15? The fact is it never took you 5 minutes, it took you 15 and considering how your connecting dots, it was probably more like 20-30.

Its a very low percentile chance you spawn close to an area thats populated enough for you to run into a fully geared player so your running at least 10-20 minutes to get a location thats populated. Then you have to find a geared player which adds more minutes. Then you engage, kill, loot which adds more minutes. Probablility wise this is a 20-30 minute venture 75%-80% of the time.

The thing is you never said until that mess of a reply that you were talking about the engagement time it takes to kill and player and loot his body. Not once you said that. What you said was it takes you "5 minutes to be fully geared" VERBATIM. Never been killed by another player, ok chief, whatever you say.

The way you connect the dots and write, I wouldn't be admitting to being 36.

If anyone used your backwards logic of telling a tale it would never take someone hours to get fully kitted, but more like 5 minutes because I'm not referring to the time traveled (because its relative right?), just the time it takes to engage the loot and put it in my inventory.

And to put the final nail in the coffin, I've got at least 300 kills (which is lowballing here) and never once was I killed by a player that wasn't fully geared. Never once killed by side-arms. Been shot by side-arms plenty of x, never killed.

You really need to use your head before posting man..

It isn't risky, not even slightly. The only danger in DayZ is other players and that's still the case now.

Just be a retard and run through Leroy Jenkins style grabbing everything you can find. Zombies run slower than you do and path stupidly.

The only thing the poorly implemented, retarded, xray vision, no clip mode zombies have changed is that it's now ineffective to attempt stealth and silently take out zombies around town. If anything, it has made the game less complicated.

But hey, that's what a lot of you want, right?

Do you think they know there's already a pretty good co-op anti-zombie shooter available on steam in the form of Left4dead(2), without all that pesky realism commitment?

Seems to be what people are pushing for, L4D: Open world edition.

Good thing that already exists! The nice folkes at Undead Labs made the game just for them! It's single player too so they don't have to worry about not having friends! They are even working on an MMO game based on this right now with some REALY big name developers from some of the best MMO companies around like one of the co-creators of Guild Wars.

This game is actually pretty awesome and I can't wait for the multiplayer one

I can't believe you consider these zombies "risky". I just looted NWAF by myself using a fireaxe, nothing i couldn't handle by myself.

They really need more Zombies!

I personally dont consider them risky. I often comment based on what's being posted in the forums.. and if/when you join the party late it looks like I personally have these feelings as the "joke"/point becomes a tad bit lost.

I feel the zombies are broken if anything. I wouldn't say risky.. you just run away from them if you feel its getting risky. I remember playing through several patches for zeds in the mods that were FAR more of an issue as far as risks are involved and I did just fine there too... always run away if all else fails. When it really comes down to my personal thoughts on this patch is that I remember watching very early pre-pre-pre alpha footage of the zed tracking and pathfinding having been fixed. It was not perfect, but it looked so good. What we have now is nowhere near what I saw back then.

I have to wonder why, in a game like Dayz, you would not immediately focus on the zombies in the early stages of development?

So much this

If the zombies weren't terribad and loot actually respawned I would never touch the mod or Arma 3 breaking point again.

is not "threatening"

it is annoying, now i have to carry extra bandages

WE'll stop by to collect your tears later.

It seems there are two camps right now. One that finds the zombies hard to deal with and the other that hasn't got a clue what the first camp is on about so it must be down to play style.

No, not really.

If you shoot that player, his gear is ruined.

Thus you have 0 protection from the elements, zombies, and other players.

All of his food and ammunition, and possibly even his gun is unusable.

If anything, this will lead players to band together is larger groups. It's an incentive to actually help each other to survive.

invalid. as the item damage System gets fixed.
