How active is the vanilla DayZ mod community?

Player from 2012 here, The mod has died almost completely out. All that stands are roughly 5 servers that are completely vanilla with some people. The community has dropped to the point that normal dayz servers hover around 250. The game is on its last leg at the moment but it still has some life left to it. If you are interested in some DayZ I have a list of some servers still running vanilla.

    Love the New Sway

Sprint should be done like in ArmA. Running speed is 20 kph while sprinting gives you a 10% boost to that speed for a small distance.

DayZ is far more optimized than you think tbh...

What happaned to OP?EDIT: Just read the above post. Also the optimization while amazing definitely still needs some work. I gotta hand it to the Development team you guys have made some amazing strides so far!

Is this how I die after more than 50 hours surviving?

This reminds me of a story of mine from DayZ Epoch... While running about in Epoch I came across a group of guys who talked to me and hell even offered me a ride. We began talking on TS and from there we decided to work together. After doing amassive amount of looting and work we finally ended up building a base in the NE most town in Panthera. After a while tenstions begin to rise and eventualy they shoot me. I had been a pretty friendly guy on the server so another group of guys offered me a spot in their group. After awhile we began strategizing a raiding party and took off down to my old group's base. We destroyed everything they had worth about two briefcases in all. At the end of it all they never showed up on the server again.

Do you want moderation of the mods on DayZ?

Look what happened to the mod. Almost the entire population moved to easy mode servers because that's all that was available. It slowly killed the mod until finally three maybe two vanilla servers (I think there truly is only two left since 3480 died) that get populated. The problem is admins make the game easy and everyone sucks it up.

Do you want moderation of the mods on DayZ?

The unfourtaunate thing is that can not happen. It has been confirmed mods will be coming.
  7. This has been brought up many times in conversation from people saying mods destroyed dayz and that mods made the game great. Just a simple question here, do you want moderation of the mods coming to standalone to keep dayz to an extent what the developers want it to be, or do you want moderators to be able to run wild which will lead into how dayz mod turned out.

Why does hardly anyone report abusive servers?

Because its too much work for me to report them. You can say it only takes a minute to report a server but I'm trying to play DayZ not spend two minutes babysitting admins. If they add an in game report button I will report all day long.

    Great netcode/10

I think you are slightly over exaggerating that one, yes the mod players kill traded too easily in close quarters, but it didn't happen often and I always felt the the time from bullet impact to dead wasn't that bad. Now if you played on modded servers where all sorts of easy mode crap like missions, thousands of vehicles, and spawn with weapons then of course the net code was bad because it couldn't keep up. I'm not sure which version of the mod you played but I never felt the truly bad net code you are describing.
  10. Yep completely understand that this wil change. I pulled out these files to get a very small picture of what this gun will be for and how it can be used. I should have added that this is most likely to change in under that overview, now that I'm thinking of it I will add it now.
  11. Thanks for the model I can imagine flashbangs being found in police stations for riots. Kind of a cool introduction.

  13. I am currently going through the data for the CR527 and will be posting information I find below. In-game description: The CR527 carbine is a bolt-action, magazine-fed, light weight, intermediate range ‘brush gun' chambered for the popular 5.56x45mm cartridge."; Sound: Currently using sounds for the mosin Accuracy: Dispersion is .0025 compared to the mosins dispersion which is also at .0025 giving these guns pretty much the same accuracy Caliber: This gun will be using 5.56x45 bullets EDIT: Gun Caliber is changing from 5.56x45 to 7.62x39 Camos: This gun offers Default Camo (See in Texture), Black, Green, and Camo Magazine: This gun will hold Five rounds at maximum Attatchments: Currently in files, Bipod. Can not confirm which scopes yet. Damage: Same as M4 from what I can tell, but might be wrong. EDIT: Possible damage model replicate to SKS and AKM Recoil: Exactly the same as the Mosin from what I can tell. Texture: Thanks to gibonez for the picture, Overview: This sniper looks to be a copy and past of the Mosin with changes to its skin, damage, and caliber. I will update this thread when I find more information. Still digging through the files and if I can I will add a screenshot of the texture for the gun later. Please note this gun is still a work in progress and is no where finished yet many changes can be expected when it's released from the stats I have given.
  14. In this video we are transporting hostages when we begin taking heavy fire. I grabbed the hostages and began running for safety. Along the way we had shots fly over our heads, confrontation with some of the enemies, and a goal to reach the safety of Black Lake. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHbdx9QFTkk

Do you want the new version of NEAF?

As long as it forces players to head somewhat inland I will be happy.
