Roadmap? Just to keep ppl calm thinkin the ship is abandoned - wich is a pretty hilarious statement?

Sorted patchnotes is a "must have" to figure out what needs to be tested.

No, the excuse for their so called short comings is that making a game from scratch is pretty difficult, and shit happens. Bugs show up, and have to be dealt with. Your complaints are still not constructive. And never will be. It's in their nature.

Well, it's not really "from scratch", is it?

I don't want to be another person complaining about the quality of the game, because I like it and want it to succeed.  But quite frankly, if you don't want people to bitch and moan, don't release a half-built game.  Just because you call it an "alpha" and put a disclaimer splash screen doesn't stop people from bitching.

I work in software project management, and this kind of feels like an out of control project to me.  Missed deadlines.  Vague road map.  Project phases merging together (I.e. end user testing in an open "alpha" while still working on the underlying infrastructure while adding new content) Non-reducible errors (i.e. new updates break stuff that used to work in previous updates).  You know what I didn't see in the video above?  Anything on the few whiteboards in the room.  No lists of bugs or features.  No Kanban charts.  No Gantt charts.  No sketched out pseudo-code.  What it does feel like to me is what I see in startups where they just get a bunch of "really smart developers" in a room and have them cowboy code a bunch of stuff as they think of it.

Thank you for the link, I have bookmarked it.

I don't see anything in there about Brian Hick's twitter about this weekend's experimental DB actions though ...  If someone hadn't posted in here the twitter posts, I would be really confused as to what was going on .  Please understand, I don't do all the new "Social Media" things, have no use for it, and cant see trying to do it for one game I play, because the game's "officials" don't like to post in the game's "official forums".

I'm an old retired Leatherneck from VN era.  I don't do "social media" because what friends I have that are still alive, don't use it either ..  we go see each other in person. You can say, "Hell, we aint gonna post in forums for one old timer who's out of touch", but as you can see from all the comments in here, it isn't just me.

So I shall ask ...  Please ...Please ... Please ...  post in here the relevant informations.

Thanks

Hi,

the link I posted is to a website which is used to report issues that are present inside the game. We do not do any announcements there as it's not the purpose of that particular site and it is not really tailored for such a task. You certainly can use it to keep track of hot issues and issues that have been acknowledged by our team however.

I can see your point in regards to social media. I suggest using the Dev Tracker on this forum which tracks posts made by our team on Twitter for example.

You know what I didn't see in the video above?  Anything on the few whiteboards in the room.  No lists of bugs or features.  No Kanban charts.  No Gantt charts.  No sketched out pseudo-code.

Are you suggesting we should log bugs onto whiteboards? I seriously hope I read that wrong.

EDIT: Not to mention that most (if not all) of the whiteboards in the video in fact have stuff written on them. The camera focus is just atrocious.

It is though. The foundation is built from scratch, even if the content later imported will be mostly built.

Of course it won't, but a disclaimer is a disclaimer.

They're using a project method called "SCRUM". Do you know about it? It's a very unconventional way of project management, and mostly used to fasttrack projects or parts of larger projects.

I've noticed a decrease in the amount of exp servers running this build , for UK and EU. Just me?

[...]

You know, theres a differnce between constuctive posts like: "That feature doesn't work so well how about changing it like "that" so it will be more like "this". Or "I have severe problems with "x" on server "y" anyone else?

And Posts like: wheres ma carz! wheres ma choppa! more zombies! more weapons! tents! Because quite franly those are very obvious things.

When I got this early access I've jumped into the game and failed hard obviously. I died by zeds, players, geometry, clunky controls/movements, !ladders! , lags , desync, bugs  and because sometime I am very stupid. While playing this game I realised too: There aren't many Zombies, Jogging all around Chernarus ain't that much fun and so on. But what I did was check the forums get used to where the devs statements appear and read a lot. No need to post those things because most problems and features have already been talked about.

So why whine?

Edit:

I've noticed a decrease in the amount of exp servers running this build , for UK and EU. Just me?

No most exp servers have been taken down during weekend for database maintenance.

This project is not built from scratch at all. Mostly modified arma 2 + arma 3.

With that logica it would mean that all valves games are just modified HL2's

As I said before: you want it quickly, or you want it well done. You can't have both. Have some patience FFS.

Has anyone that complains about slow development in Dayz bought other early access games? DayZ has LIGHTNING FAST update cycles, compared to other games I've played, like Project Zomboid or Kerbal Space Program. And good for them, I'm not saying that's a bad thing.

You payed for a finished game that will be released in 2015/2016. At a discount for buying so early. The devs then let you play their buggy unplayable alpha and beta, and work hard so it is as bug-free as possible so it's fun to play. You didn't pay to get all the features you expect from the finished game in the 3 and a half months that have passed from the alpha release.

If by the end of the alpha you see that the announced core features haven't made it to the game, then start worrying. But not yet. They will come, at their due time.

Well said, people this days have no patience, or understanding of what a game in development phase means.

Wait a minute. Is it not built from scratch at all, or mostly not built from scratch? Make up your mind.

The comparison was with the mod. Yes, they used the engine from Arma 2, and probably a few other things that worked.

It's like saying to someone who is putting a car together that they didn't build it from scratch because they didn't mine the metal needed for the chassi.

What are the estimates of the return of experimental servers?  Monday?  Wednesday?  I feel like testing for some bugs and would rather be on the most up to date version to work from.

are you in any way saying that ArmA 2 engine WORKED?? the game that runs at 30FPS on the best of PC's (not mine)(...And yes i am slightly blowing it out of proportion)

ive got an idea, what if they added to the game a simple Exp lvlup system ?

every X amount of time you stay alive you gain Tiny bits of Xp,

every time u kill a player or a zombie u gain xp

and u lvl up,

every X amount of lvls gives u points to upgrade certain things such as  your Health, your chance to wake up from unconcious, your chance to not get bleeding when hit by zombies.

and with Xp you can use lvls to learn special skills such as Cutting down trees, hunting, gathering and crafting materials from your environment.

my thoughts about this is simply to add something to the game to keep the playerbase Active, tbh currently all we do is find guns to shoot ppl.

and if we had something else to focus on we would be much more friendly, and even give soloplay some meaning again.

Not only are you blowing it out of proportion. You're also splitting hairs. You know perfectly well what I meant and in that context it's irrelevant if the engine is optimal.

There is a suggestion section of the forums.  To get the best reception of your suggestion, posting there would be best.  There are plenty of people that are willing to discussion nothing but suggestions there.  This would be a great topic to discuss. :)

I'm expecting the next stable patch cmoing wednesday. But with the stuff that they are putting in currently it would be more realistic to say it will come 2. April or simply 'When it's done'

Greetings,

Mukade

Funny coz the game as of now has less features than the mod and since there dont seem to be big updates and barely anything has been added since release i dare say the free mod is going to still be better than this game half year later

That might be an accurate statement IF THIS WAS A GAME! It's not. It's still just a project in development. In fact the quicker people divest themselves of the idea that this is a game released for their enjoyment the better.

Did someone "promise" something? I don't recall ever seeing that.

They said there were coming down over the weekend. I imagine they'll be back up tomorrow.

Well maybe they could at least restart the four experimental servers that ARE still up. They haven't been restarted in 24 hours or even longer

They're either dealing eith a gamebreakong bug, or theyre over-reacting over a bunch of tiny bugs. If there was an eta, it would say in the original post.

The standalone is losing people's interest. No matter how "great" "Rocket's vision" is, if you've been bleeding customers constantly since launch you've done something wrong. Maybe BIS should have adopted a limited alpha with open play on the weekends, or maybe they should have allotted more manpower from the start. Either way, what's done is done and the fact stands that DayZ peaked today at only 27k CCU. CCU peaked within a week of launch at 45k players. That's 40% fewer players now than 4 months ago. Something isn't working, and if this continues and everyone loses interest, there won't be a standalone. People have every right to complain or be concerned if a product they paid for, warning or not, appears to be failing or not meeting their expectations.

We're paying customers, not cunts.

No you're cunts (nothing personal I'm just highly annoyed by the 25+ pages that are spawned by complaints and cunt is the best word to use) , lawl stop being one and go complain about politics or something .

Please we don't need anyone's opinion of how Bohemia or dean is "bleeding you" here or even how you don't like the patch here , but if you still feel the ridiculous need to complain anout a game that only cost 30 dollars then make a new thread in general discussion then title it "COMPLAINTS " no need to shit on the patch notes and ruin it for the people who actually are interested in reading the positive people's statements and questions.
