Bicycle Suggestions/Discussion [Official]

Heck even paragliders would be found more often in the fictional world.

 

Cost I am seeing online is anywhere from 500 dollars to 2700 dollars for a top of the line para glider.

 

More importantly any idiot could fly a para glider , a helicopter absolutely not.

 

An average person would go inside a helicopter and would spend days before he could even take off and would crash within minutes.

Cheaper =/= more common.

Also, this may be true for wherever you live (I'm assuming a western country), but eastern countries do not spend as much money on gliders and the cost of buying/importing them could be very expensive, something that an average farmer could not afford. It's not like anyone's ever sent hang gliders as economic aid, either.

 

 

 

I'm not really opposed to them, but hang gliders seem really silly to me.  DayZero (mod of the mod) had ultralights which seem more practical.

 

I just can't think of many locations where it would make sense to hang glide on chernarus.  You need a decent amount of space and elevation I'm pretty sure, for it to be practical.  Besides something like cap galova, there aren't actually a lot of tall mountains/hills that aren't almost completely wooded.

 

If you're talking about things fitting the setting, hang gliders would be pretty low on the list imo.

 

Ultralights wouldn't make that much sense either. Granted, they're more believable, but hardly so. What we tend to think of when we think of common helicopters/planes make the most sense (Mi-8s, UH-1s, Bell 206s, Cessnas, AN-2s, etc.)

Maybe they'll allow the server option like they did in the mod to decide which vehicles spawn, then everyone can be happy.

Come on now were not EVEN in the bicycle phases yet and you guys are freaking out lol.

 

Just everyone calm down and enjoy the walking. Besides bicycles for life yo! XD

 

Its going to be so low maintain and you will be able to go offroad just as fast as on it. Unless they do different types of bike and tires but thats going to be a whole other headache i hope they dont get into lol......

Agree with op to some extent. While i would love to see plenty of diversity and everything from rafts to tanks, there is something to be said for small scale simplicity. Having played the vanilla mod with a ver large clan and being force to take a ural convoy everywhere which offeres no element of stealth or suprise. The more dependant you become on increaingly large and difficult vehicles the more time and effort is diverted from your gooal into maintaining the means to get there.

What's your goal?

I think anything that prolongs the effort to reach your goal in this game is a good thing.  That's the whole problem with the mod and current state of the SA is the "end game" comes too quickly.

end game cap is too low imho.

 

personally? id like to see people group up into 10-15 man groups and making compounds the side of devils castle, weeks and weeks of work invested in that. i think there should be hig end mil gear. there should be some things that give an unfair advantage, and they should be an obscene pain to get hold of, let alone maintain or employ. this makes group play the ultimate OP thing. this promotes interaction and cooperation. the lone wolf would never be able to carry the means to build a massive compund able to stand up to a ural being rammed into it.

So you mean to tell me that the great King of Heroes deems a lowly BICYCLE a worthy steed?

 

Pah!

 

For me, nothing less then a fully armed, and fueled AH-1 Attack Cobra, presented to me at the moment of my spawning, will suffice!

They just need to add more colors and designs. There is like a whole plethora of different models and colors.

I think heli's and planes are fine in the mod as long as they aren't military ones. Normal commercial use or rescue choppers are fine, as long as it fits into the whole survival simulation, realistic feel.

So DayZ is getting bikes first.. this is a fact. We all know how amazing bikes can be, so lets discuss the types of bikes, mechanics of bikes and all the things that go along with it.


 


I think bikes should get flat tires easily when offroad. I think they should be more resilient than in the mod, they were fairly fragile in the mod imo. Most bikes IRL would toss you in a bad crash and be rideable afterword.. so I think things like broken wheels should work differently. We should have chains that fall of, if you are riding the bike rough and its say a 10-speed.. your downhilling from Devils Castle through the forest.. chain falls off, no power. Brakes could go bad over time, and degrade slowly.. faster when braking hard/downhill/etc..


 


There should be variations that fit roles, like road bikes, Mtn. Bikes, Flower Basket Womens bike, etc.. 


 


What do you think? What ideas do you have for bikes? Which ones would you like to see added in, how should they work, etc.? Discuss.

Yeah well we better have bike variety and maybe different types of chassis models and so on. A mountain bicycles which is what i have are the most versatile in my opinion both off road and on road. These kinds of bikes SHOULD NOT get flat tires off road unless your constantly hitting extremely rough and sharp terrain.

 

The only thing i think they should add that you must have is a portable air pump. After so long the bike looses the air in its tires. I often have to pump my tires back up ever so often.

Ok, so people have been talking about vehicles for awhile now, and the main thing that seems to come up is that vehicles will be rare. Now I don't know about you, but running everywhere is very irritating for me and other players who don't exactly have all day to play the game. At the same time, running is also sort of good as you encounter more stuff, so instead of having a lot of vehicles or having few vehicles and running everywhere, lets find a median. Bikes. Bikes should be very common, while requiring some repairs for some. The reason I say this is because most farming community families have a lot of bikes (1 per person) as they are cheap and effective. There should be different types of bikes, such as mountain bikes and road bikes, which would be effective for different things as per their name. Bikes should also be highly customizable, such as spray painting combinations which feature different designs. The land of Dayz I see is where a person's bike is part of their being, something that they spend a lot of time upgrading and customizing. Something that if you lose, simply finding another bike will not suffice. The same thing goes for people who manage to successfully repair cars, their car should be the most important to them. 

 

 

EDIT: I took out the car idea because apparently people do not know how to read and automatically associate it with "All I want is cars everywhere." Few people have the literary capacity to understand a short idea, so Ill post another topic later that goes into depth about it.

I'm sorry that you don't have a lot of time to play DayZ, but the game cannot be developed to cater to anybody's schedule.

Also, I would like to add that sprinting should, like the mod, slow down considerably the longer it is done. Right now I can sprint from Cherno to Elektro in Usain Bolt time

I think the sprint will be greatly nerfed once other means of transportations are in the game.

now for those of you who think they are not needed? fuck off

 

and for those of you wondering why they arent in? they will be in 2016... (lol)

 

consider how much rubberbanding is happening in the new EXP patch, for what?

 -some basic game elements

 

now imagine something as resource hoggin as a bicycle (or car, same resources)...the game would be unplayable at the level it is now.
