Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Recommended Posts

So you only have the GPU that's attached to the processor itself. It is not a completely horrible GPU. Yes, you can run the game, especially on low settings. Luckily this game is pretty CPU-dependent. You won't get 60FPS in cities.

So, Bare minimum 30 or so frames? That's perfect for me.

You won't be getting 30fps with onboard graphics.

I'm rocking a 770 (with a FX-8320 though) and SA doesn't run very nicely in big cities (or in general).

I might get higher FPS but in the middle of buttfuck no where. Busy cherno is still a shitty experience.

EDIT: And while the 4440 would work for A2 or SA, it's a little on the lower end. From looking at general reviews and benchmarks, it actually seems to come out below the FX-8320 and 8350. So I'm more confident in saying the game wouldn't run very well.

I was running the game with a much shittier CPU than his until recently, plus a 5770 (only a hair's breadth better than any onboard 4600 GPU... possibly worse, actually) and I got minimum 30 FPS outside of cities. He should easily clear 30fps outside cities, and ~20 within.

Okay, looking at minimum specs, your PC does meet the minimum requirements, but it is grazing on the end of low of minimum specs.

So yes, like trtk said, your game should run, but on servers with higher pops, longer uptimes, big cities, and in new sections up north, you will experience quite large FPS issues.

Some lower-range AMD Phenom quad-core. Goes without saying that any Haswell chip outpaces that by miles.

I sometimes run DayZ on a laptop with every spec lower than yours.  With the right tweaks and depending on where you are, I average 20 but can get up to 35 but as low 5-10 as well.

It definitely isn't ideal, but at least for me, graphics and frames don't mean everything.  The game is still a blast if you are willing to put up with it.

edit:  if you were curious,

My Phenom quad clocked at 3.9 GHz runs it fine even though the game wont use more than 50% processor occupancy. Your lack of proper GPU would have been what was making you slow. 5770 like you say was probably about as good as onboard. I got Phenom quad and 7870 and it runs exactly the same if I have all the detail pushed up and 4x AA or if I have it looking like crap with near draw distances and no AA. All that changes is the game engine uses an even smaller fraction of my hardware.

Still, obv haswell will be better - it is a better chip goes without saying. My PC at work is an i7.

But this game is not in a state yet where a users' hardware is the be all and end all of performance.

As you said outside cities +30 fps easily(I get around 50-60) - inside cities it goes to pot. I know guys on new i5s that still get 20fps in cities same as the rest of us.

I feel it's the game that needs the upgrades not the users. If it actually used all 4 cores and 100% occupancy on GPU my old system would be well adequate for 1080 and 4x AA and settings of high or very high (post processing off cos it's complete shite).

Someone help this guy, I've no idea how this works...2ghz is low, Iris Pro, no idea what that translates to in HD Graphics...if at all.

2ghz is to low for DayZ.. that's for sure...I have 3.20ghz and my CPU is overtaxed in DayZ.

Ah no don't say that. In a link on this thread on page 41 I was able to plug in my specs to a generator and it said it would work. Everything said above recommended except one category was below 11%

Edit: heres more info on the processor.

2.0 GHz Processor Type: Core i7 (I7-4750HQ) Details: This model is powered by a 22 nm, 64-bit "Fourth Generation" Intel Mobile Core i7 "Haswell/Crystalwell" (I7-4750HQ) processor which includes four independent processor "cores" on a single silicon chip. Each core has a dedicated 256k level 2 cache, shares 6 MB of level 3 cache, and has an integrated memory controller (dual channel).

This system also supports "Turbo Boost 2.0" -- which "automatically increases the speed of the active cores" to improve performance when needed (up to 3.2 GHz for this model) -- and "Hyper Threading" -- which allows the system to recognize eight total "cores" or "threads" (four real and four virtual).
  • 2.0GHz
2.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache
Configurable to 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache or 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache

Heres more info on the graphics as well.

Yes. Turn off AA and PP, lower object detail and play with your shadow settings.
